"Oh, they're here." Lu Mingfei quickly responded and hurried to catch up with the group. He forced himself to stop overthinking, but the feeling of unease lingered.

Just then, a faint tremor came from underground, as if something was slowly approaching in the distance. The group stopped instantly, all looking around warily.

"Can you feel it?" Chu Zihang asked in a low voice, his hand already gripping the Dragon Cutter tightly.

Caesar nodded, his smile fading and replaced by a cold, stern expression: "It seems we are not entirely out of danger yet."

"Is there something else here?" Tian frowned, his hand already reaching for the rune spear at his waist. "Are these dragons planning to line up and cause us trouble?"

Lu Mingfei gripped the dagger tightly, his back already soaked with cold sweat. He tried to ask something, but found his throat was blocked and he couldn't make a sound.

Xia Mi stood beside Lu Mingfei, her gaze calmly fixed on the distance. She didn't draw any weapons, nor did she make any defensive movements; she simply stood there, as if waiting for something. Her expression showed no panic, but rather a quiet certainty.

A moment later, the source of the tremor finally appeared. A dragon, smaller than the previous monster, slowly emerged from the depths of the forest. Its scales gleamed with a metallic sheen, its limbs were long and powerful, and its eyes flashed with a cruel light. A long, sharp tail trailed behind it.

"Prepare for battle." Chu Zihang calmly gave the order, and in a flash, he rushed forward, the Murasame blade slicing through the air, aimed directly at the dragon's side of the neck.

Caesar and Tian followed closely behind, their rune guns flashing incessantly, precisely suppressing the dragons' movements. The battle erupted again, the air thick with the smell of gunpowder and blood, mingled with the low growls and furious roars of the dragons.

Lu Mingfei stood rooted to the spot, at a loss. He gripped the dagger, wanting to rush forward to help, but his legs seemed nailed to the ground, unable to move. His breathing became rapid, and the scene before him left his mind blank.

"Lu Mingfei, don't move." Xia Mi's voice rang out softly, yet carried an undeniable force. She stood beside him, her gaze fixed on the center of the battle, but made no move.

“Xia Mi, you…” Lu Mingfei wanted to say something, but Xia Mi just smiled slightly and said softly, “Just trust them.”

Her voice was gentle yet firm, like an invisible force that gradually calmed Lu Mingfei's tension. He took a deep breath, gripped the short knife, and stood silently in place.

However, no one noticed a strange glint in Xia Mi's eyes. Her fingers twitched slightly, and a faint aura emanated from her, quickly merging into the air and spreading directly towards the direction where the dragons were.

The dragon's movements abruptly halted, as if sensing something, but it quickly let out an angry roar, becoming even more ferocious. However, this instantaneous change was enough for Chu Zihang and Caesar to find an opening. Murasame and the rune spear struck vital points simultaneously, and the dragon let out a final wail before crashing to the ground.

After the battle, everyone stood there panting, but Xia Mi remained calm with a faint smile on her face, as if everything that had just happened had nothing to do with her.

Caesar sheathed his rune gun, walked to the dragon's corpse, kicked its stiff claws, and said with a sneer, "This time it didn't take too long. Looks like it's nothing special." His tone was disdainful, but his eyes remained wary, clearly not completely relaxed.

Chu Zihang remained silent. He crouched down, used his dragon-cutting technique to slice open the dragon's chest, and extracted a dark red core. The core's surface was covered in tiny cracks, clearly indicating it had withstood a tremendous impact in the recent battle. Chu Zihang examined it carefully, placed the core in a specially made box, and turned to hand it to Tian.

"Take it and send it back to the Academy's research department," he said coldly.

"Okay." Tian wiped the sweat from his forehead as he took the box, muttering under his breath, "Another piece of junk like this. I really hope I can get something interesting someday."

Watching their practiced movements, Lu Mingfei finally breathed a sigh of relief. His hand, which was tightly gripping the short knife, was slightly numb; the tension from earlier hadn't completely subsided. He walked to a nearby rock, sat down, wiped the sweat from his face, and his gaze involuntarily fell on Xia Mi.

"Xia Mi, why didn't you intervene just now?" Lu Mingfei's voice trembled slightly, but he still mustered the courage to ask the question that had been bothering him. He wasn't questioning her, but genuinely curious. The scene had been so dangerous, yet Xia Mi had stood still the whole time, neither afraid nor making a move, as if she had remained uninvolved.

Xia Mi raised her head, a faint smile still on her face. She walked up to Lu Mingfei, patted his shoulder, and said softly, "You guys are already strong enough. I'm not a fighter, and if I rashly intervene, I'll only make things worse."

“But you don’t seem scared at all,” Lu Mingfei said subconsciously, his tone questioning.

"Really?" Xia Mi blinked, her smile deepening. "Maybe it's because I trust you. See, in the end, nothing went wrong, did it?"

Lu Mingfei was speechless after hearing her words, and could only scratch his head and laugh awkwardly. He felt that Xia Mi's explanation was too simplistic, but her calm and warm tone made it impossible for him to press further.

Chu Zihang stood up from beside the dragon carcass, walked to the front of the group, and scanned each person's face with his gaze. His tone remained calm: "There may be other dangers around us, so we cannot let our guard down for now. Xia Mi, you and Lu Mingfei stay in the middle of the group, while Caesar and Tian will be responsible for guarding the front and rear."

"Understood." Xia Mi nodded, her tone perfectly in tune. She turned to Lu Mingfei, giving him an encouraging smile. "Let's go, Lu, remember not to get distracted this time."

Lu Mingfei gave a soft reply and followed behind Xia Mi. He watched her slender back, the strange feeling from that moment still lingering in his mind. He couldn't understand it, nor dared to think about it too deeply, and could only suppress his questions for the time being.

The group set off again, traversing the dense forest and embarking on an old path overgrown with weeds. The path had clearly been deserted for a long time; the lush foliage of the trees on either side blocked most of the sunlight, making the entire environment dark and oppressive.

"What a horrible place," Tian muttered, his rune gun still fully charged. "Who would come to a place like this?"

"The Secret Society," Chu Zihang replied coldly.

Caesar, at the head of the procession, suddenly stopped. He crouched down, brushed aside the weeds, and revealed a stone slab covered in runes. His gaze sharpened slightly, and a meaningful smile appeared on his lips: "Looks like we've found something interesting."

Chu Zihang stepped forward and crouched down to examine the stone slab. His fingers traced the runes on the slab, his gaze gradually deepening. "This is a sealing technique... but part of it has been damaged. It seems someone tampered with this place before."

"Could this be an experiment by the Secret Society?" Tian asked as he stepped forward, his expression turning serious.

“Very likely.” Chu Zihang stood up and glanced around. “Be careful. This kind of place isn’t just a simple sealed ruin. There might be something else hidden there.”

As Lu Mingfei listened to their conversation, his anxiety grew. He instinctively moved closer to Xia Mi and whispered, "What do you think might be here?"

Xia Mi glanced down at the stone slab, a slight, enigmatic smile playing on her lips. "Who knows? But I doubt it's anything good."

Lu Mingfei shivered and involuntarily gripped the short knife in his hand tighter. He felt that Xia Mi's words sounded like a joke, yet they carried a strange certainty that made him uneasy.

Chu Zihang gestured for everyone to continue forward, while Xia Mi, as she walked past the stone slab, casually touched a tiny crack with her finger. A faint wisp of energy flowed from her fingertip, quickly merging into the runes on the stone slab, without attracting anyone's attention.

The crack in the stone slab seemed to flicker slightly before returning to stillness. Xia Mi raised her head and continued walking, a flawless smile on her face, but a dark light flashed deep within her eyes.
