Chapter 193 The Mystery of Her
Lu Mingfei remained silent, but he began to ponder Xia Mi's words. The contradiction between her identity and her words puzzled him, yet also aroused his curiosity. He secretly speculated that what she said wasn't entirely without merit; the secrets of Kassel College might indeed be more complex than they knew.
"What do you want?" Tian finally asked, his voice low and calm. "If you're here to investigate us, you already have the answer. If you're here to cooperate, then please be clear about your purpose."
Xia Mi looked up at the sky, a slight smile playing on her lips: "I'm not in a hurry to make you believe me. You'll gradually understand that if one day our goals overlap, perhaps we can become partners."
She stood up, straightened her clothes, and said with her gentle gaze, "It was a pleasant chat today. We'll have many more opportunities to exchange ideas, after all, Kassel College is a place full of unknowns. I look forward to seeing you all again."
After saying that, she turned and left, her steps light, as if she didn't care at all about the questions and unsolved mysteries she left behind.
The four watched her retreating figure in silence until she completely disappeared through the cafeteria entrance. The air still lingered with her complex aura. Tian said softly, "Her identity is not simple; we must be careful."
Chu Zihang nodded, his gaze still fixed on the direction Xia Mi had left in: "Was she here to test us? Or did she have another purpose?"
Caesar helplessly spread his hands: "Whether she's friend or foe, we can't ignore her presence. It looks like our vacation is destined to be anything but peaceful."
Lu Mingfei took a deep breath, his gaze complex: "I always feel that our story with her has only just begun."
The four sat silently at the cafeteria table, the atmosphere becoming subtle and tense. Although Xia Mi had left, her presence had raised a sense of vigilance in each of them. Tian remained calm, his gaze never leaving the door, as if he were pondering something complex.
“She said she came to Kassel College just to get to know us,” Chu Zihang said in a low voice, his brows furrowing slightly. “But she clearly knows far more than we do.”
Caesar took a sip of his drink and said casually, "Something's not right. She seems like just an ordinary freshman, yet she was able to get close to us so easily and gather so much information. To be honest, she can't possibly be a simple character."
“Yes, her existence couldn’t just be for the purpose of understanding our past.” Tian’s voice was low, as if he was deep in thought. “She definitely has a purpose. Whether she is an enemy or a potential ally, Xia Mi cannot be underestimated.”
Lu Mingfei looked up, still puzzled. "What she said seemed pre-planned. But why is she only showing up now? Is it related to our previous mission?"
Tianwei nodded slightly: "I've been thinking about this too. We've just come into contact with the core of the dragon's remains, and the Camarilla's plan has only just begun. Xia Mi's appearance may be specifically aimed at our mission. Her purpose is probably not just simple intelligence gathering."
"Her Word of Power is also a problem," Chu Zihang suddenly interjected, his eyes flashing. "The Eye of the Wind King, or the Horn of Storms, controls the power of wind. Logically, her abilities should give her an advantage in group battles, so why has she never shown her true strength when she's been in contact with us?"
Caesar smiled dismissively: "If she really wanted to deal with us, she would have done it already. Right now, her goal is probably more of a test. She's like a hunter, trying to figure out if we're worth getting closer to."
Lu Mingfei stroked his chin, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes: "But she also said, 'If we cooperate,' is she implying that there's something we can do together? Otherwise, why would she bring that up?"
Tian frowned again: "Cooperation? Her proposal is just a pretense. Her real purpose is to draw us into her game and confuse our hostile relationship with the Camarilla. She doesn't completely trust us, and at least she won't easily reveal her hand."
The four remained silent for a moment, the air thick with suspicion about Xia Mi and contemplation of future plans. Whether she was friend or foe, she was clearly not a simple person.
The next day, the academy's activities and academic classes proceeded as usual, but the four remained vigilant. Xia Mi's image lingered in their minds; although she seemed to have easily integrated into the academy's daily routine, her true motives remained elusive.
Around noon, Xia Mi appeared before the four of them again. This time, she didn't approach them directly as before, but instead watched them from a distance, standing in a corner of the cafeteria. She didn't come over on her own; instead, she quietly observed their every move.
"She's here again," Lu Mingfei said in a low voice, glancing at Xia Mi.
Tian didn't look at her, his gaze still focused on the documents in his hands, but he already had a plan in mind: "She came to us because she must want to know something. We can't just sit here and wait to die."
Caesar picked up a meatball from his plate, chewed it, and said in a low voice, "We need to take the initiative. After all, she's already looking for opportunities to contact us. Instead of waiting here, we should go over and see what she's planning."
Chu Zihang glanced at Xia Mi, his eyes sharp: "Her gaze is always so sharp. The fact that she didn't just walk over means she's still observing us. She knows we don't easily trust her."
Xia Mi seemed to notice their gazes, raised an eyebrow slightly, slowly rose, and walked gracefully towards the four people. She didn't quicken her pace or appear rushed; her steps were light, as if she knew she had plenty of time.
When she reached their table, Xia Mi's smile remained warm, as if she didn't care about the four people's wariness and suspicion. She sat down and said without any politeness, "You're all so vigilant that I felt embarrassed to come over again. However, it seems you're quite interested in my 'true identity'."
Caesar scoffed dismissively: "Your 'true identity' is nothing to hide. Since you dared to come, you should be prepared to face our questions."
“Nothing is insurmountable.” Xia Mi smiled, her eyes still calm. “I know you have many questions, but don’t worry, I will answer them slowly. But do you know? Sometimes, the truth doesn’t necessarily bring the desired result.”
She paused, then continued, "I came to you not only to understand your mission and goals, but also to confirm one thing—whether you are strong enough to fight alongside me."
All four eyes instantly focused on her. Every word Xia Mi uttered was like a challenge, stirring up their doubts and curiosity.
"Fight side by side?" Lu Mingfei frowned. "What do you mean?"
“Your mission is becoming increasingly complex, and your enemies are growing stronger. The power of the dragons will not be easily suppressed, and the Camarilla’s plot is intensifying. Whether you four can meet the challenges ahead is the key to my decision on whether to help you.” Xia Mi’s eyes remained unwavering. “I don’t ask you to trust me, but I believe that as long as you can prove yourselves worthy, you will have the opportunity to become my partners.”
Tian stared at Xia Mi, his face expressionless: "We don't need your help. If you want to use us to solve your problems, you can try, but if your motives are impure, we don't mind becoming your enemy."
Xia Mi smiled slightly, seemingly having anticipated Tian's reaction. She gently put down her cutlery, stood up, and said elegantly, "I understand. In that case, I won't bother you any longer. I hope that one day in the future, we can become partners fighting side by side."
After speaking, Xia Mi slowly left the cafeteria, her graceful figure gradually disappearing into the crowd. The four watched her retreating figure in silence, their hearts filled with unease. Her appearance was no longer just the simple intervention of a new student; it brought countless suspicions and challenges.
"What exactly does she mean?" Lu Mingfei asked in a low voice.
“We still don’t know her true purpose.” Tian paused for a moment, his gaze still sharp. “But in any case, she has already left her mark on our world.”
Chu Zihang looked towards the entrance of the cafeteria, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes: "Xia Mi's relationship with us is probably far more complicated than we imagine."
The four sat in silence, the atmosphere heavy and somber. Xia Mi's departure hadn't taken away the oppressive feeling she left behind; instead, it had plunged each of them into deep thought. Her words weren't threatening, yet they carried an undeniable underlying danger. Clearly, her identity was far more complex than the ordinary freshman she had presented.
