Reborn into a Farming Family: My 18 Virtuous Wife is a Hero

Chapter 8 Rebirth in Junior High 2 with Superpowers 8

She was about to ask her mother for the money she had saved for her haircut, but seeing her mother's increasingly poor skin from pushing a shopping cart to buy groceries, Su Mu felt a pang of heartache and couldn't bear to ask her mother for the five yuan again.

You have to understand that five yuan was equivalent to two days' income for her mother to buy groceries in the 1990s. The more Su Mu thought about it, the more upset she became and the more reluctant she was to do it.

After the mother and daughter finished washing the dishes, Yang Li noticed Su Mu's uneasy expression and asked in confusion, "Xiao Mu, didn't you go to get a haircut today? Why is your hair still like this?"

"I lost the money..." Su Mu chuckled and lied without batting an eye.

Actually, Su Mu was quite glad he didn't cut his hair. After all, he had two bright red five-finger marks on his face from being beaten today. If he had cut his hair and his parents saw it, they would have been worried sick.

Yang Li paused for a moment, then took out five more yuan from her pocket and handed them to Su Mu.

"Mom, I have some more here. Take it and get your hair cut."

Su Mu quickly pushed it back, saying, "Mom, forget it. I won't cut my hair. I'll cut it short when it gets warmer."

Yang Li couldn't argue with her, so she had no choice but to take the money back, adding, "If you ever need a haircut, just tell Mom. Don't be stingy with the money."

Su Mu nodded repeatedly, then went to the door to change into his slightly worn sneakers. "Mom, I'm going out for a bit, I'll be right back."

"Where are you going?" Yang Li asked as she walked to the door and saw Su Mu had already walked a few steps away.

Su Mu waved as he walked, "I'm going to play with my classmates, it won't be long..."

After saying that, he disappeared without a trace. Yang Li could only shake her head helplessly, and then wondered, "It seems like this is Xiao Mu's first time going out to visit his classmates."

As night fell, the streetlights gradually came on, their orange glow illuminating the entire alleyway and creating a slightly ambiguous atmosphere.

Su Mu's short and thin figure slowly fell to the ground, stretching out infinitely as he walked away.

I just want to find a quiet place to practice my martial arts when I go out now. I'm afraid of making too much noise at home and disturbing my parents. Besides, it would be hard to explain if they found out.

This alleyway is right in front of my house, but because of the poor conditions, very few people live here. It can basically be called a "slum" because the people living here are all poor or migrant workers from the countryside. Su Mu's family is like that. Su Mu came to the city from the countryside when he was five years old, and it has been nine years.

After walking for a while, the once quiet alley suddenly became noisy, and Su Mu's heart skipped a beat, with a bad feeling.

She turned and hid behind the nearest telephone pole, her gaze fixed on the direction from which the sound was coming. The walls gradually became transparent in her eyes, until finally she saw an incredibly bloody and chaotic scene.

Blood was everywhere on the ground, and several teenagers, around 18 or 20 years old, lay dead in the middle of the road. Not far away was the scene of a fight: a man of about 30 years old held a knife in one hand and grabbed a teenager's neck with the other, quickly stabbing him. When he pulled the knife out, there was no blood on the knife, only blood flowing continuously from the teenager's abdomen, which quickly pooled into a pool of blood within seconds.

As the last boy fell, the man swayed a few times and collapsed to the ground.

Having been terrified by the scene, Su Mu shuddered. His X-ray vision vanished instantly, replaced by an intense, sharp pain in his eyes. He cupped his eyes in his hands and rubbed them gently, thinking to himself, "It seems my X-ray vision can't go too far now. That scene was the furthest I could go."
