Watching the crowd walking around and discussing, Qin Qianluo temporarily put the people blocking the way outside out of her mind and relaxed her tense nerves.

As she watched, she noticed that some of the dozen or so women walked in a strange way, as if they couldn't stand steadily. Their long skirts covered their feet, and they didn't seem to have the habit of checking other people's feet.

She only noticed today that about ten people were walking strangely, which made her a little suspicious. She asked, "001, look at those dozen or so women. They're walking strangely. Do they have injuries on their feet? How come so many of them are injured at the same time?"

001 was also quite puzzled, as it didn't know their names yet. It had been busy these past few days and hadn't had time to ask them their names after they came in.

Firstly, they were afraid of Qin Qianluo, and secondly, they were too busy. Qin Qianluo wanted them to get used to things first, so she didn't pay much attention to them, since Ling Xue and the others were there anyway.

001 said, "Luo Bao, ask them their names. I'll check their information."

Qin Qianlu nodded and searched for Ling Xue's location. An Yue was a cold person and probably wouldn't recognize everyone, so it would be better to ask Ling Xue.

Ling Xue and the other two had already heard the thoughts. Ling Xue turned her head and saw Qin Qianlu waving at her. She put down the vegetables in her hand and flew to Qin Qianlu's side.

Qin Qianluo pulled her aside and asked, "Sister Lingxue, I've never asked them what their names are before. Does Sister Lingxue know?"

Ling Xue nodded and said, "They don't have their own names, only code names, numbered one to sixteen, which are their names."

Looking at Ling Xue with a face full of doubt, Qin Qianluo was speechless, not knowing what to say. She thought that the secret agents, like her own secret guards, all had names. For example, the royal secret guards' names started with the character "Xuan" and her own secret guards' names started with the character "Mo". How could they not have names?

She snapped out of her reverie and asked, "Then Qin Yuecheng, Lian'er, and the three of you all had your own names, right? Why don't they have names, only code names?"

Ling Xue smiled and said, "Those who come out to do missions will be given names, but most of them are just code names. Qin Yuecheng is the second young lady of the Qin family, and Ling Wei and I are the young ladies of the first and second branches of the Ling family. An Yue is a bit special. She is, by definition, a princess of the Xuanyuan Kingdom."

He glanced in the direction of Dark Moon and continued, "But her mother was tortured to death by Emperor Xuanyuan. She herself erased the surname of the Xuanyuan royal family and registered under the name of a minister. In order to survive, she entered the secret agent camp."

Qin Qianlu fell silent again. It was the first time she had learned that An Yue was a princess. However, in a country like Xuanyuan Kingdom, princesses were the most unfortunate. She didn't dwell on the issue of her identity and looked at the women.

Some people asked uncertainly, "If 001 is just a code name, can we access any data about it?"

001 tried it once, then looked somewhat dejected. "Luo Bao, I can't see them. How about Luo Bao gives them names, and we can try again?"

For the first time, Qin Qianlu felt that 001 seemed a bit useless, but she didn't show it. After all, if 001 knew, it would howl in her mind. For the sake of her peace and quiet, it was better not to let it know.

Although 001 had a hard time finding information, it was because of it that she had space and high-yield grain seeds. Even the information was only available because of 001, since she didn't know how to make those things. Qin Qianlu comforted herself.

After a moment of contemplation, she looked at Ling Xue and said, "If I were to name them, would they not like it? Or perhaps they once had their own names, but you just didn't know it?"

When Ling Xue heard 001's words, she was already envious of those women. How lucky they were to have their master personally bestow a name upon them! None of them had such a privilege.

Hearing her master's question, she smiled and said, "It is their good fortune to be given a name by Qianluo, and they will not refuse."

Qin Qianluo could only nod, instructing Ling Xue to bring the dozen or so women to the living room before leaving herself. She was still telling 001, "I'm terrible at naming things! Sixteen names, how am I supposed to come up with that?"

001 doesn't know either; it's just a string of data. It doesn't think there's anything wrong with numbers, but since humans use numbers as names, it can't find any information about them, which is a real problem for Luo Bao.

After a moment's hesitation, 001 said, "Just let them take whatever they want. If they don't like it, we can change it later. As long as it's not a number, anything should be fine."

Qin Qianlu remained silent. She decided it was better not to ask 001 for advice and to figure it out herself. She went into the living room, sat on the sofa, and pondered with her head down.

She thought of a line from Qu Yuan's "Li Sao": "In the morning I drink the dew that falls from the magnolia, in the evening I eat the fallen petals of the autumn chrysanthemum," which contained the meaning of nobility.

Since some characters were already repeated, and the character "落" (luò) couldn't be used, the remaining four characters, "乐安悠满" (lè ān yōu mǎn), were used as a way of expressing my best wishes for these dozen or so women.

May they forget their past pain and live a happy, carefree, and fulfilling life. May they become a group of noble and pure women who live a peaceful and smooth life.

Ling Xue led the group in. They bowed nervously, wondering why they had been summoned so suddenly. They were worried that they would be driven away. They did not want to leave their new master, nor did they want to return to their previous dark and hopeless lives.

Seeing everyone's nervous expressions, Qin Qianluo gently asked them to sit down and said softly, "I want to give you names. Would you like that? If you know your previous names, you can use those names as well."

The women's eyes lit up as they looked at their new master, knelt on the ground, and nodded in response, "Your Majesty, we are willing. Please bestow a name upon us."

Qin Qianluo asked everyone to stand up again and said softly, "Then let's take the character 'Qian' from my name as the first character. The sixteen characters are 'Chao,' 'Yin,' 'Mu,' 'Lan,' 'Zhi,' 'Zhui,' 'Lu,' 'Xi,' 'Can,' 'Qiu,' 'Ju,' 'An,' 'Ying,' 'Le,' 'You,' and 'Man.' You can choose the characters you like."

The group quickly chose their favorites and laughed even more heartily. It was wonderful; the bestowal of names meant that their master had accepted them and would not send them away in the future.

After they decided on their names, 001 would be able to see their information. It hesitated for a moment, then spoke up, "Luo Bao, of these sixteen, besides five, eleven have bound feet."

With a clang, the teacup fell to the ground. The women opposite were startled by the sound and nervously clutched the hem of their clothes, wondering what had happened. Ling Xue knew, though. She had been chosen as a spy since childhood, which was why she hadn't had her feet bound. The eleven women hadn't been chosen from childhood; they had been captured.

Ling Xue was somewhat puzzled by her master's reaction. In the mindset she had been instilled with since childhood, foot binding was something that women had to do, otherwise they would not be able to get married and would not be able to bring honor to the family. But she was actually somewhat relieved, because she had seen women in her family bind their feet, and the process was terrifying.

It took Qin Qianluo a while to react before she pressed on, "Foot binding? The Xuanyuan Kingdom still has women with bound feet? I swear, I thought opium was already enough to shatter my worldview, but they even have foot binding? The Xuanyuan Kingdom is truly something else, leaving women no way to survive."

001 was also somewhat incredulous at the information she had seen. She had carefully selected Tianxuan Kingdom to let Luo Bao reincarnate, and although she hadn't investigated the surrounding countries, this Xuanyuan Kingdom was simply too unimaginable.

It flipped through the documents and said, "Luo Bao, this place is like another late Qing Dynasty, only a bit luckier than the late Qing Dynasty, without the covetous eyes of foreign powers. But the darker aspects are no less than those of the late Qing Dynasty."

After calming herself down, Qin Qianluo asked, "Who didn't bind their feet?"

001 glanced at Qianying, Qianle, and Qianyou, who had been cooking for everyone these past few days. The three of them escaped this ordeal because they had to work from a young age. There were also Qianman and Qian'an; they were brought in as babies and were designated as spies from childhood, so they weren't caught either.

Looking at the eleven girls, the oldest being fifteen and the youngest only ten, Qin Qianluo thought, "This Xuanyuan Kingdom is truly wonderful, so wonderful." Qin Qianluo's eyes reddened.

She was angry at herself for not noticing it sooner. If she had noticed it earlier, she could have treated them sooner. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. She slapped her forehead hard, and her fair forehead instantly turned red.

Ling Xue was startled and quickly stepped forward to grab Qin Qianluo's hand, which was about to fall again, to stop her from slapping her forehead. Qin Qianluo looked up at Ling Xue with red eyes.

Her voice choked with emotion: "Sister Lingxue, it's all my fault for not being careful. If I had noticed earlier that they were walking incorrectly and that they had bound feet, they wouldn't have had to suffer for so long."

Ling Xue gently rubbed her forehead: "It's not Qianluo's fault. It's the fault of the Xuanyuan country. Qianluo has been so busy these past few days that she hasn't had much time to rest. It's normal that she didn't notice."

001 also comforted her, "Yes, Luo Bao, Ling Xue is right. How can you blame Luo Bao? This is a problem of the Xuanyuan Kingdom, not Luo Bao's."

Qin Qianlu sniffed and asked, "Let's do a 001 test to see if there's any chance of a complete cure with the current treatment, or if there's any way to ease their suffering."

001 obediently performed the examination and was somewhat pleasantly surprised. "Luo Bao, thankfully, their bones haven't fully developed yet. Now, let's remove the cloth strips, reposition the broken and misaligned bones, and with proper care, there's a possibility of recovery."

Qin Qianluo's eyes lit up, and she quickly asked Ling Xue to call Ling Weixuanmei and Mo Chen to the operating room. She herself led the eleven women to the operating room as well, preparing to take X-rays and determine the treatment plan.

The women then realized why their mistress had suddenly become angry. Was it because of their feet? Did their mistress not like bound feet? But her expression seemed more like heartache. It must be heartache, they thought.

They didn't understand, and followed Qin Qianluo to a bright and clean place, where they sat down nervously. The remaining five women were also somewhat uneasy, as they had no idea what was going on.

After speaking to the three women, Ling Xue went to find the rest of the group and explained the situation to them. The five women were touched. It turned out that their master hadn't taken the women away because she liked "bound feet," but because she felt sorry for their sisters' plight and wanted to treat them.

Only then did they realize that they were not different, and that foot binding was wrong and should not have been practiced on women. Some of them felt like crying; it turned out that everything they had heard since childhood was wrong.

After Ling Wei and the other two arrived at the operating room, they followed Qin Qianluo's instructions to cut the women's foot bindings. Because the foot bindings were sewn with needle and thread, the stitches were very close to ensure they were tight, so they had to be careful so that the women wouldn't feel pain while cutting them.

Mo Chen, being a man, worried that the women would feel uneasy, so he took the initiative to avoid them and help Qin Qianluo adjust the machines. Mo Chen and the others would often come here to try operating the instruments. Qin Qianluo was always generous, letting them look at all kinds of medical books, including teaching them how to use the various instruments.

(What I mentioned in these chapters might make you feel a little uncomfortable. Before writing this, I was very lucky to get tickets to Xin Zhilei's play "Preliminary Evidence". I watched it almost in tears. I have to say, Xin Zhilei is amazing. She did such a good job in a one-woman show.)

When I got home, I looked up information about the things mentioned in the play. I was deeply hurt. Among the many accounts of victims, I saw a term that should not exist in this era: foot binding.

I looked into this topic again and found that women still bind their feet, and I even saw that there are tools for doing so on shopping apps.

I don't understand it at all. After hesitating for a long time, I still decided to write something that shouldn't exist in the present in this novel. Anyway, this is a story about a fictional imperial dynasty, so it's not abrupt to have such things and it won't affect the overall story.

Please forgive the author's whims.
