“It’s raining now, so it’s hard to push the car. We can only carry it back slowly. Take off your raincoats, carry it on your back, and then put them back on.”

The mountain road was all muddy, and the vehicle was going uphill, making it very difficult to travel. They would really have to work hard to transport this grain by hand. Originally, he planned to use the cave to store the grain, just placing a few large stones outside. But Xiao Ning said that wouldn't work; this large cave could house many people.

They cannot occupy public resources.

"Yes!"

With food, why worry about being tired? After a good meal, they have plenty of energy!

Jiang Yi saw that everyone had a bag, and with several hundred people, a corner of the cave was quickly cleared out, and the movement was not slow.

"Tell the strong men on the mountain to come down and move the grain," Xia Ning said immediately upon seeing them return after arranging the warehouse on the mountain. The people weren't starving; why should her men do all the hard work?

The elderly, children, and women are fine, but all the strong men must get involved.

On the mountain.

People lined up and down the mountain in long queues, all carrying grain.

The people were willing to go; they were happy because with so much food, at least they wouldn't starve.

A month later, the rain finally stopped.

Everyone looked at the still-overcast sky with lingering fear. They thought, "This rain will last forever!"

The mountainside was filled with refugees fleeing the disaster, and there were more not far from them. Seeing how well the refugees lived and ate, they were incredibly envious. However, because the refugees outnumbered them, they dared not rob them.

The water level slowly receded, and once it was low enough, the group immediately left. They couldn't linger; as soon as the roads were passable, the refugees would hurry on their way, given the prolonged rain and the likely food shortages they were facing.

Jiang Yi and his men traveled for nearly a month, heading straight for Sichuan.

"Phew, we've finally arrived."

"I never want to move again." She'd had enough of riding in the carriage for over a month. It's hard to go from luxury to frugality; they'd all gotten used to teleportation. "Finally, our son can come out. These past two months have been really tough on him."

Jiang Yi snorted coldly. What was so difficult about it? He was having a great time in the space.

Having decided on their settlement location, they went out to fetch a shipment of goods and began building houses. Upon arriving at their destination, although there was no one else around, everyone felt at ease, knowing that following the Marquis and his wife was the right thing to do.

Along the way, they encountered several civilians who had left alone earlier. These people had become disaster victims and said that the further south they went, the worse the disaster became. Cities were flooded, and people were either dead, injured, or scattered. Their wretched state made the civilians sigh with pity. If they hadn't been with the Marquis, they would have suffered the same fate as these disaster victims.

It might get even worse. Haven't you heard them say that many people have died? They're considered lucky.

Seeing that none of them were missing and they were all full of energy, I was extremely envious and extremely regretful. I wanted to rejoin the team, but I was refused.

He doesn't want indecisive people.

Constantly going hungry, unable to move, and falling behind the main group, they could only watch helplessly as the distance between them grew ever wider and wider...

This further strengthened their resolve to follow Jiang Yi. In their hearts, these two were gods, able to foresee the future, and had so much food, tents, and everything they could want. Only a fool would leave.

Two months later.

Jiang Yi and Xia Ning led the people to settle in the new location, and a new town gradually took shape. Although it was initially deserted, with everyone's joint efforts, infrastructure such as houses, warehouses, and farmland were gradually built. The people's lives began to get back on track, everyone had a place to shelter from the wind and rain, and food reserves gradually became sufficient.

Although the Sichuan region is located at a high altitude, making it suitable for refuge, its resources are limited. How to sustain the livelihood of so many people in the long term remains a problem that needs to be solved.

Xia Ning began organizing women and the elderly to grow vegetables and raise poultry to replenish food reserves. Jiang Yi led the strong men to continue reinforcing houses and building fortifications in case of an invasion. They also sent out several small teams to scout the surrounding area, looking for more resources and potential allies.

As time passed, the new town gradually prospered. With the court in turmoil and the people struggling, they heard of this secluded paradise and flocked there with their families. They believed that as long as they followed Jiang Yi and Xia Ning, their future would surely be brighter…

"Have the newcomers settled in yet?"

"Reporting to Your Majesty, everything is in order!"

"Are you done?"

"Why are you here? Are you resting with that big belly?"

"Move around more, so you can give birth more easily."

That seemed to make sense. "I'll walk with you," he said, taking her hand. The setting sun cast a warm glow on them. Jiang Yi carefully supported Xia Ning as they strolled slowly along the newly built path. In the distance, farmers were busy at work, and children were playing in the fields…
