Thanos's biological daughter in period fiction

Chapter 33 Exploring the Courtyard

After confirming that her mother had gone to the kitchen, Xia Yutang found a quilt and spread it on the kang (a heated brick bed). She planned to go back to her own courtyard, and to avoid her mother thinking that she had gone mad again, she decided to pretend to be asleep.

She had barely lain down when her mind returned to the courtyard; she hadn't finished the chores from before. She hadn't picked the cherry tomatoes and cherries yet, and the water she'd placed when she came in to explore hadn't been checked since. Now that she was back, she needed to check the water temperature first.

The hot water in the yard had already cooled down, so Xia Yutang poured it directly into the vegetable garden next door. Upon entering the living room, she found that the water there hadn't completely cooled down; the temperature was around 35 degrees Celsius.

The room temperature, as indicated by the thermometer on the wall, was 23 degrees Celsius, a very comfortable temperature. The water in the storage room was still quite hot, about the same temperature as when it was first poured in.

The bedroom was the same as the living room, and he put water on all kinds of storage shelves in the kitchen, including the dining table.

The water on the dining table and stove has cooled down, but the temperature on the shelves hasn't changed, and it's the same upstairs.

Upon arriving at the warehouse, the water temperature remained unchanged, meaning that the various shelves in the warehouse, storage room, and kitchen all had preservation functions. Time flows more slowly in the living room and bedrooms; things will still spoil if left out for a while, but at a slower pace.

This feature is very user-friendly; she doesn't have to worry about things breaking after she puts them in the warehouse. Her height limits her movements; picking eggplants, potatoes, and green beans was relatively easy for her. She could quickly pick more using the fruit-picking gadget she bought before, but trees are a different story.

She simply didn't have the strength to hold that fruit-picking tool for so long. Although she had drunk the water her mother gave her and was stronger than before, it was still quite difficult for a child who was not even 4 years old to hold that fruit-picking tool.

It took him most of the day to pick all the cherries from the fruit trees. Now his hands, neck, and whole body are sore, so he doesn't plan to plant another tree.

After using her mind to put two large baskets full of cherries into the storeroom, she went to the kitchen, took a plate, filled it with cherries, and returned to the living room.

While eating cherries, she suddenly realized that what she had just done seemed a bit silly. He could use his mind to move cherries to the barn in the backyard, so why couldn't he use his mind to pick the fruit from the tree? That would be very simple and convenient for his short legs.

She acted on her thought immediately, ignoring her aching neck, hands, and legs. She tried to use her mind to pick the cherry fruit from another cherry tree. She wanted to pick all the fruit from the tree with her mind, but it didn't seem to work. After trying for a long time, not a single cherry came down.

There was no other way but to narrow it down to a small area, about two branches' worth. She picked the cherries very easily.

They took 20 baskets out of the warehouse. They rested for half an hour every half hour. After wrapping the baskets for an unknown amount of time, she finally managed to put all the fruits and vegetables that could be picked from the yard into the baskets.

After picking all the fruit and transferring it all back to the warehouse, she started to have a throbbing headache, whether from overexertion or from working for too long.

She quickly drank the glass of milk she had saved up in the kitchen, made with water from her mother's space. The well water from her own space didn't have that effect; it was just a little sweeter than regular well water.

She hasn't figured out what specific functions it has yet. So, whenever he drinks water or milk, he accumulates a little bit in his personal storage space.

After a few days, I accumulated a glass of water and two glasses of milk.

There's a refrigerator in the kitchen; my uncle bought it along with the steam oven. The refrigerator is a four-door model with a capacity of over 4 liters, and the refrigerator compartment is full of her usual drinks, yogurt, mineral water, and concentrated coffee.

The freezer section below contained some whole-cut steaks, chicken cutlets, and some chilled chicken legs and wings. On the day we moved into our new house, my uncle somehow got hold of a box of about twenty or thirty small lobsters. One advantage of this refrigerator is that there's a drawer under the refrigerator compartment, which is used to keep seafood fresh.

Neither she nor her uncle liked pre-cooked meals, so the day before moving into their new house, they went to a wholesale warehouse supermarket and filled all her lockers and refrigerator.

She still has quite a few supplies in her space; drinks and water are in whole cases, and there's still plenty in the storage room inside the refrigerator.

She can grow her own fruits and vegetables; what's in the refrigerator and pantry is enough to last her as she eats more. He wondered what was in his parents' space? Goods far beyond this era. At the time, it seemed like just a planting space, but judging from his parents' excitement, it must be more than that.

She had heard her father mention once that the stone disappeared after her mother dripped blood, and she wondered if it could bring the three of them in with it.

However, that emergency mission came quite suddenly, so Dad must have forgotten about it. I wonder when Dad will get his leave again; I've heard that soldiers can't just take leave whenever they want.

Forget it, let it go. What we need to think about now is how to help their family get through the next difficult year or so.

Although the village has food now, the drought is still not over. So where will the next season's food come from? Her father can't possibly produce it every time; people will start to get suspicious after a while.

She gave her father this "golden finger" so that the family could survive, not so that her father would be dissected.

After resting, Xia Yutang decided to try climbing over the courtyard wall to see what it was like outside. She was really curious about how the small shop next door was doing now.

Our two houses are next to each other, so he might be related to the original owner. Therefore, both houses were built at the same time. However, the neighbor's yard wasn't a vegetable garden; it was developed into a small shop.

She buys everyday household necessities like oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar, cigarettes, alcohol, and beverages. She also carries dried goods that are generally available at small general stores.

When she first moved to her new house, she was missing a lot of things, and she had to go to her place to get many of them.

She was a middle-aged woman in her fifties, a very nice person, warm and hospitable, but she wouldn't keep you talking to her for too long; she was very perceptive. I've known her since I bought the house, and I would occasionally buy things from her when I was renovating.

The place where you buy chicks and farm tools was recommended by this woman.
