"Am I dreaming?" Shi Yanxia murmured softly.

She quickly turned on the light and took a sip of the water beside her.

The door to the room was pushed open from the outside, and Zhan Jinglin, wearing a black silk nightgown, walked in. The man stood there and looked at her.

"Mr. Zhan?" Shi Yanxia looked at him in surprise.

She quickly put down the water glass, looking at him with some confusion, while her hand reached under the pillow, where a dagger was hidden.

To protect herself, even in her room at the Zhan residence, she kept a dagger under her pillow. In this world, she could not trust anyone except herself and her master.

"I just heard you scream and thought something had happened to you, so I came to check on you," Zhan Jinglin said in a hoarse voice.

She looked into his sleepy dark eyes; he had clearly just woken up.
