This Life's Song: The Genius Rune Master

Chapter 108 still has some merit.

Seeing Leng Feng's confident demeanor, Ye Lianxue nodded, remaining silent and gazing into the formation.

Chirp quietly landed on a branch and preened its feathers.

Leng Feng glanced at Ye Lianxue, then turned his head and gazed into the distance.

Within their sight, the two were making all sorts of strange movements.

For example, you could squat on the air, with your hands empty, making a chopping motion with one hand and holding a bowl with the other.

It seems the two of them are deeply involved.

"They don't really believe that everything exists, do they?" Ye Lianxue asked the person next to her with a curious look.

"Hmm! The formation is a mental illusion, which makes them feel more real, so they are not afraid of seeing through it. However, there are flaws. I just don't know if they can find them." Leng Feng looked thoughtful.

"Is there a flaw? I can't see it," Ye Lianxue said hesitantly.

"Just wait and see, you'll find out." Leng Feng kept everyone in suspense.

Chirp also flew and landed on Leng Feng's shoulder, lying quietly. At this moment, its little head was bobbing up and down, dozing off, which was quite adorable.

Lianxue watched attentively.

Soon after they finished eating and drinking, they made a gesture as if they were going to pay.

After that, he got up and leisurely walked towards the next place.

They were asking around as they walked, but it was just a questioning motion directed at thin air.

"By the way, they just ate something, but haven't eaten since. What if they can't get out and starve to death?" Lianxue suddenly thought of this question and asked it naturally.

"Hehe, maybe, who knows?" A vague answer that left people puzzled.

"Alright, they deserve it this way. But if they manage to escape, they're lucky." Ye Lianxue said in a low voice, though she didn't actually hate the two of them that much.

"Do you know that sometimes kindness can be your fatal weakness?" Leng Feng looked at Ye Lianxue with a serious expression and said in a solemn tone.

"I know, but we still need to have some basic conscience. If they escape this time and come back to bother me next time, I won't show any mercy, provided I can beat them," Ye Lianxue murmured.

"Heh, that makes some sense, but I hope you won't let your kindness kill you." Leng Feng shifted his gaze to the unknown.

Ye Lianxue understood that the other party was speaking from the heart because they were thinking of her. "Yes, I will remember what you said."

"Let's go. Don't waste our time on these two. We still need to cultivate. Otherwise, we'll have come all this way for nothing," Ye Lianxue said to ease the tension.

Leng Feng looked at the formation and said in a serious tone, "Wait a minute, something's up."

Inside the formation, the two felt as if a day had passed, yet they appeared somewhat thinner and were now staggering forward, not knowing why they had started arguing.

The man attacked the woman, then waved his hand to take out a golden talisman, infused it with spiritual power, and squeezed it tightly before disappearing.

The remaining woman stomped her feet and flew into a rage.

"This... this isn't the flaw you were talking about, is it?" Ye Lianxue asked Leng Feng, her mouth agape in astonishment.

"Hmm, I didn't expect them to react so quickly. They really do have some skill with formations." Leng Feng's cold voice rang out.

"The weakness is that they can use teleportation-type talisman arrays. Of course, they are quite capable of seeing that they are in an array, since one day outside is equivalent to one year inside the array."

"Next time you meet, if you can't beat them, run away, understand?" Leng Feng praised, but also expressed some concern.

This person is probably quite powerful; being able to carry a gold-grade teleportation rune means they are no ordinary individual.

"Okay, I understand. I'll be careful. Running shouldn't be a problem." Ye Lianxue nodded vigorously.

She also agreed with Leng Feng's statement: if you can't beat someone, why not run away?

"Let's go now. We don't need to worry about this anymore. She'll be able to escape soon. She won't be trapped here for long." Leng Feng waved his hand, blocking the leaves, and landed in a flash.

“Mm.” Ye Lianxue followed suit.

Soon the rustling of branches filled the air, and they were nowhere to be seen.

"Where should we go next? Do you still want to train with me?" Ye Lianxue asked as she ran.

"Let's walk for a while, and we'll talk about what happens next." Leng Feng's figure remained on either side of Ye Lianxue, advancing at a distance that was neither too close nor too far.

Ye Lianxue was also trying her best to catch up with him. After running for nearly an hour, a mountain appeared in front of them. Behind the mountain was a white mist, and it was impossible to see what was inside. From a distance, it looked like a fairyland.

The two stopped in their tracks. As far as the eye could see, the mountains were very close, and in the hazy distance, there seemed to be a golden glint.

The two exchanged a glance and then ran together, determined to see clearly and figure out what it was—a treasure or an illusion. Whatever it was, they believed it represented a certain opportunity.

The saying "looking at a mountain makes a horse run itself to death" is true. The two of them ran for almost two more hours and still hadn't reached the bottom of the mountain.

"Let's rest for a bit, get some food to replenish our strength, and get to the bottom of the mountain before dark," Leng Feng said to Ye Lianxue as he stopped.

"Hmm, I don't know what's there, but even if it's dangerous, we still have to go and see," Ye Lianxue said to herself, as if she were encouraging herself.

“Yes, we should go and see. Since we have chosen the path of cultivation, we cannot be afraid of the unknown. We must have a spirit that is not afraid of death in order to go far,” Leng Feng echoed.

"Who says otherwise? It's such a pity, I'm all alone. If only all my friends were here," Ye Lianxue said sadly.

Leng Feng smirked, "What? After all this time, I've saved you and helped you ambush those two. Can't I be your friend?"

"Oh dear! I never said you weren't a friend. I was just expressing my feelings, nothing more. Don't mind it," Ye Lianxue said with a fawning expression, giving a dry laugh to show her embarrassment.

"Stop, halt! This isn't how you should be. Never mind, I'll go find something to eat. Wait for me a moment." Leng Feng finished speaking and walked away in the other direction.

Ye Lianxue responded and lazily lay down on the ground. She was really too tired. She had been running for so long and it was almost dark. Although she was a cultivator and could resist fatigue, she was still a minor and her small body couldn't take it.

Soon Ye Lianxue drifted off to sleep.

When Leng Feng returned, he saw a small figure lying on the ground, looking disheveled, curled up like a baby.

A pang of pity rose in his heart, and he took off his coat and covered her with it.

The people on the ground slept even more soundly.

"Sigh! I'm not afraid of any danger, but my vigilance is still too low. Oh well, I'll be your bodyguard for once," Leng Feng muttered to himself, softly comforting himself.

Afterwards, he walked a little further away from Ye Lianxue, lit a fire, and started roasting a rabbit. Only when the aroma filled the surroundings did Ye Lianxue sniff the air and stand up with a swift motion.
