Chapter 10, Tool Table Unlocked
After praising the "Peashooter," Lin Yue turned her attention to the last item.
Suddenly, she noticed a yellow, sticky substance slowly flowing out from under the bird's nest, spreading along the grain of the wooden floor and seemingly continuing to spread.
She quickened her pace, approached the bird's nest, and lifted the lid to find several more eggs inside. There were originally three eggs, but two of them were completely cracked, with the egg white and yolk mixed together and slowly flowing along the edge of the nest. The last remaining egg also had obvious cracks on its shell.
Bird eggs are rich in protein and are an excellent source of nutrition. Lin Yue couldn't help but feel a little regretful. But since it was already broken, there was nothing she could do. She could only collect the last bird egg along with the entire nest for the time being.
As for the egg yolk on the ground, she couldn't handle it now and didn't want to waste precious mineral water to clean it, so she decided to leave it for the time being and clean it up later when she had the right tools.
After picking up the items, Lin Yue went back to the wooden crate and started adjusting the "Peashooter".
This time, however, even though she had positioned the Peashooter's gun so that it was pointing directly at the sky, the Peashooter remained completely unresponsive, as if it had fallen into a deep sleep, and its head no longer shook.
Huh? Why aren't the bullets firing anymore?
Lin Yue stared at the "Peashooter" with some doubt. The "Peashooter" showed that it had 44 pea bullets left.
After fiddling with it again in confusion, Lin Yue suddenly seemed to remember something and couldn't help but pat her head.
In the game Plants vs. Zombies, the Peashooter is the most basic weapon. After being planted, it will only start shooting peas when it sees a zombie.
It probably fired peas because a random airdrop target happened to appear in its field of vision. Now that there are no targets, the "Peashooter" has naturally quieted down.
However, this makes the situation somewhat awkward.
The Peashooter only fires when it sees a target, and the bullet disappears once it hits. This means that the remaining 44 peas can only be used as weapons, not as a food source. If Lin Yue wants to get more large peas, she will have to collect them manually, one by one, as before.
Lin Yue was slightly disappointed, but then she thought that it wouldn't be bad to use it as a weapon. Didn't she just draw up a blueprint for herself? One should be content.
She looked up at the sky and found that there was no airdrop crate in sight, so she readjusted the Peashooter's target, aiming the pea shooter at the thickest branch diagonally above.
With a clear target this time, the Peashooter reacted immediately.
"Plop—plop—plop—" After three sounds, a thick tree branch fell straight down and crashed onto the platform.
[If a branch is found, should it be collected?]
[Collection successful. Gained 3 pieces of wood and 1 experience point.]
Lin Yue followed suit, using the Peashooter's bullets to continuously attack the branches on the platform. Eventually, she used up all the bullets in the Peashooter, obtaining a total of 14 branches of various sizes, which she then harvested into 39 pieces of wood.
When the Peashooter disappeared in a flash of white light, Lin Yue felt that the branches above the platform seemed to have thinned out a bit because of her attack.
After acquiring the timber, Lin Yue continued with the expansion work.
She had just collected quite a few branches, and with the wooden crates she traded with other players, she had accumulated a total of 86 pieces of wood. While it wasn't enough for her to directly expand into a small yard like Han Weiyi's that could hold all the airdrops, it was at least much better than the platform she had now with a missing corner.
Lin Yue didn't collect all the wooden crates; she kept a few to use as storage. Once the platform had expanded to 20 square meters, she stopped.
Just as Lin Yue finished placing the last floor tile, the build button on her wristband screen suddenly flashed again.
Lin Yue quickly clicked on it and found a second icon on the screen—the toolbar.
Great! So the workbench was obtained by expanding the platform. Lin Yue's spirits lifted, and she immediately looked at the construction requirements for the workbench.
[Crafting Table: Allows you to process basic resources. After obtaining the corresponding blueprint, you can craft the corresponding item. Required materials: 10 Wood (currently 42), 10 Iron Nails (currently 25). Build?]
"Of course we have to build it!" Lin Yue didn't hesitate and immediately clicked "yes." She then placed the workbench in the upper left corner of the platform, right next to the wooden crate containing materials such as wood and nails.
Once placed, the workbench materializes.
It's roughly the size of a standard desk, with a simple design. On the left and right sides, there's a prominent interface labeled "Processing" and "Crafting," somewhat similar to the building interface on the wristband.
Lin Yue first clicked on the [Processing] interface, and a series of basic materials that could be processed came into view.
[Iron nails: A basic material, sturdy and durable, essential small parts for making many items. 1 iron block can make 10 iron nails. Craft them?]
[Stone: A primary material, widely used for reinforcing buildings or making specialized tools. Two stones can be made into one piece of stone. Produce it?]
Charcoal: A basic material, a byproduct of burning wood, used for heating, cooking, or crafting other items. One unit of wood can produce two charcoal units. Craft now?
[Silk Thread: A basic material, soft yet strong, used for weaving, pulling, hanging items, or crafting special tools. 10 feathers or 1 unit of vine can be made into 1 unit of silk thread. Crafting requirements are not currently met.]
Glass: A basic material, transparent or translucent, used to make windows, utensils, ornaments, or high-end architecture. Five parts sand can make one piece of glass (requires a furnace or other heating equipment); currently, the crafting requirements are not met.
