Rebirth: Illuminating a Brilliant Life

That evening, Su Xuan finished her evening self-study session as usual and walked home alone with her schoolbag on her back. The dim yellow light of the streetlights cast her long shadow on the street, and the surrounding silence was somewhat unsettling.

At first, Su Xuan didn't notice anything unusual. But as she walked, she vaguely felt that there were light footsteps following her at a leisurely pace.

Just as she hesitated, the street grew increasingly dark because several of the streetlights in that section had broken for some reason.

Su Xuan's palms were sweaty, and she felt her breathing become rapid. She decided to turn into a nearby alley to see if the person would still follow her. If they did, then there was definitely something wrong.

Su Xuan quickly turned into the alley and ran forward as fast as she could in the dim light. But she hadn't run far when she heard hurried footsteps behind her. Clearly, the person in the black hoodie had also turned into the alley.

Su Xuan was both shocked and frightened. As she ran, she prayed in her heart that she could get out of the alley as soon as possible, or that she could meet someone she could ask for help.

She hid behind the door, barely daring to breathe, straining her ears to listen to the sounds outside. Soon, she heard the hurried footsteps of her pursuer echoing through the alley, growing ever closer.

Su Xuan covered her mouth tightly, afraid that making a sound would reveal her location.

The stalker stopped near the building entrance, seemingly looking around for her.

Su Xuan trembled with nervousness, silently praying that he would leave quickly. Just then, she noticed a string of wire balls hanging on the wall beside her, likely dropped by a resident of the building. A thought struck her; she gently picked up the wire balls and threw them forcefully upstairs.

The wire ball landed with a crisp sound, particularly jarring in the quiet stairwell. The stalker was clearly attracted by the sound; assuming Su Xuan had run upstairs, he immediately gave chase, his footsteps fading into the distance.

Su Xuan didn't dare to delay. After waiting a few seconds to confirm that the follower had gone upstairs, she gently opened the unit door, peeked out to observe, and seeing that there was no one in the alley for the time being, she quickly came out of the unit door and ran in the opposite direction from the follower.

After running for a while, she found a small courtyard ahead, filled with miscellaneous items. Su Xuan seized the opportunity, crouched down, and quickly slipped into the courtyard, hiding behind a tall pile of discarded cardboard boxes.

She had just hidden herself when she heard footsteps behind her again, and Su Xuan's heart jumped into her throat.

She peered through the gaps in the cardboard box and saw that the stalker had returned and was searching the alley.

Su Xuan tried to calm her breathing and make as little noise as possible. Suddenly, she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket; it was her mother calling.

Su Xuan was startled. She hurriedly and frantically put her phone on silent, afraid that the ringtone would give her away.

Just then, a stray cat suddenly darted out from a corner of the yard and meowed. The pursuer's attention was immediately drawn to it, and he walked towards the stray cat.

Su Xuan seized the opportunity and slipped out from behind the cardboard box the moment the stalker turned around. She then ran towards the exit of the alley as fast as she could.

Finally, she ran out of the alley and onto a bustling main street. People were coming and going, and Su Xuan mingled in the crowd, walking quickly while occasionally glancing back to make sure her pursuer wasn't following.

Only after confirming that she was completely out of danger did Su Xuan breathe a sigh of relief. Her legs went weak, and she almost collapsed to the ground. She quickly found a safe place to stop, called her parents to let them know she was safe, and then waited for her aunt to come and pick her up.

Not long after, my aunt arrived in a hurry.

Seeing that Su Xuan was safe and sound, her aunt finally breathed a sigh of relief. She rushed forward and hugged her tightly, her voice trembling as she said, "I was so worried about you. I'm so glad you're alright. I'm so glad you're alright."
