Rebirth: Illuminating a Brilliant Life
Chapter 4 A new beginning
Su Xuan stood in front of the imposing iron gate of the new primary school, her eyes fixed on the bustling crowd inside, her heart filled with nervousness and anticipation. Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice calling her name. Turning her head, she saw her parents walking towards her.
Her father's tall figure stood out in the crowd. He was all smiles, his eyes sparkling with excitement. As soon as he saw Su Xuan, he strode forward, picked her up, and gently pinched her little cheek with his large, calloused hands, saying, "My little princess, how are you feeling today?" Su Xuan felt the stubble on her father's chin prickling her slightly and giggled.
Her mother gently stroked Su Xuan's hair, her eyes filled with love, like a clear spring. She looked Su Xuan up and down, straightened Su Xuan's slightly crooked hair ribbon, and said softly, "Sweetie, be happy at your new school." Su Xuan snuggled against her mother's soft hand.
A family of three walked hand in hand into the school. Colorful flags fluttered in the breeze, and brightly colored balloons tied to trees along the roadside swayed gently, as if dancing to welcome the new students. The words "Welcome New Students" were written in large letters on the ground in colored chalk, surrounded by some cute cartoon figures.
They arrived at the teaching building where the classroom was located. The corridors were filled with the laughter of children and the words of advice from parents. Su Xuan looked around curiously. On the walls hung many works of outstanding students, including lifelike paintings and neat calligraphy.
Entering the classroom, there were already quite a few students and parents inside. Su Xuan's deskmate was a little boy with big eyes, who was helping his parents pack his schoolbag. Su Xuan's parents also helped her put her new schoolbag in her desk, and her father carefully arranged the books according to size. Her mother took out Su Xuan's favorite little bunny handkerchief from her schoolbag, put it in the small drawer of her desk, and said to Su Xuan with a smile, "If you accidentally get your hands dirty, use this handkerchief."
At this moment, the homeroom teacher walked in and began to talk with the parents. The teacher's voice was gentle, and she explained the school's schedule and curriculum in detail. Su Xuan's parents listened attentively, nodding from time to time, and glancing at Su Xuan every now and then, their eyes filled with anticipation for her future school life.
As her parents prepared to leave, Su Xuan felt a pang of reluctance, her eyes slightly reddening. Her mother knelt down, hugged Su Xuan tightly, kissed her forehead, and said, "We'll pick you up after school. Be brave!" Her father also patted Su Xuan's head, encouraging her, "Our little darling is the best." Watching her parents' departing figures, Su Xuan felt a little sad, but also filled with anticipation for her new school life. She knew this would be a new beginning for her.
During recess, Su Xuan urgently needed to urinate, but looking at the completely unfamiliar surroundings, she became extremely anxious, her face flushing red like a ripe cherry in spring. She paced back and forth at the classroom door, her eyes filled with anxiety and helplessness, like a little deer lost in the forest.
Just then, a little girl with a cute ponytail appeared like an elf. Her eyes, bright and clear like twinkling stars in the night sky, shone with kindness that instantly illuminated Su Xuan's panicked heart. A radiant smile bloomed on her face, her deep dimples as sweet as honey. The little girl seemed to read minds, immediately sensing Su Xuan's embarrassment. Without hesitation, she reached out her soft, white hand and grasped Su Xuan's tightly. Her voice, clear and melodious like a mountain stream, said, "You're looking for a toilet, right? I'll take you." Su Xuan, like a drowning person grasping a lifeline, nodded frantically, her eyes glistening with tears of gratitude.
The two walked briskly down the corridor hand in hand, the little girl leading the way with light steps. She would occasionally turn back, her radiant smile blooming like a delicate flower in the spring breeze, its intoxicating fragrance dispelling the tension and unease in Su Xuan's heart. The little girl's hand was warm and strong, tightly enveloping Su Xuan's small hand, as if conveying a silent comfort and strength, gradually calming Su Xuan's initially flustered heart.
Upon entering the restroom, Su Xuan was surprised to find it so interesting. The faucets at the sinks were shaped like adorable animals: a clever little monkey, a憨厚 (honest and simple) bear, and a cute little rabbit. Water flowed gently from their slightly open mouths, sparkling under the light like strings of shimmering pearls. Su Xuan was completely captivated by this wonderful sight and couldn't resist reaching out to touch the cool water, feeling the water droplets roll and dance on her fingertips. The novel sensation made her eyes widen in surprise. A little girl watching Su Xuan's expression laughed heartily, her clear laughter echoing in the restroom like a cheerful melody, every note brimming with childlike joy, filling the small space.
The little girl led Su Xuan to the edge of the playground, like an enthusiastic tour guide showing tourists around a wonderful sight. After the little girl introduced Su Xuan to her friends, the children quickly gathered around her like bees attracted by nectar.
Look, the girl with pigtails' eyes lit up instantly. Like a light, nimble swallow, she was the first to pounce. A radiant smile, like a spring flower in full bloom, blossomed on her face. Her mouth stretched wide, revealing a row of pearly white teeth, and her eyes sparkled with friendliness. She eagerly stretched out her little hand, waving it in the air as if to convey her overflowing enthusiasm. She tightly grasped Su Xuan's hand, shaking it and saying, "Welcome!" Beside her, the chubby-cheeked little boy, like a lively leopard, pushed off with his legs and arms, forcefully pushing through the crowd. His little face was flushed with excitement, like a ripe apple. He raised his chin high, pounded his chest with his little fist, and shouted, "I'm Dali! With me here, no one can bully you!" As he spoke, spittle flew everywhere. The other children, like a group of happy little fish, jostled and pushed around Su Xuan. Some stood on tiptoe, craning their necks to get a good look at their new classmate; others waved their toys, trying to get Su Xuan's attention. They chatted amongst themselves, and the scene was like a bustling market. Everyone's eyes were filled with curiosity and welcome for their new friend, as if Su Xuan was a shining star that had fallen into their innocent world.
