Chapter 88: Soaring to the Clouds

After leaving this area, the two planned to go home.

The two of them simultaneously filtered out the events of the day, leaving only some more pleasant fragments of memory.

Ji Meiqing spoke first, asking, "What do you like to eat?"

After hesitating for a moment, unsure of what he liked to eat, Lu Yu said, "I'll eat whatever you make."

"So easy to feed?" Ji Meiqing asked in surprise, a smile on her face. "Then I'll cook from now on, and we'll eat vegetarian noodles."

Lu Yu neither refused nor said anything.

The two slowly returned home, where she wrote down the accounts while Lu Yu cooked. They reached a harmonious and amicable agreement.

A few more days passed, and it was time to move. She hired a few people to help her move all her belongings back to her newly built home.

As she had requested, there was a small attic suspended in the air, and Ji Meiqing moved her belongings there. The attic was furnished exactly like her previous room, with a desk, wardrobe, bed, and window.

It was made of wood, unpainted, just coated with something else. After making the bed, Ji Meiqing happily rolled around on it.

Her room was her own little space. After Ji Meiqing rolled over, there were many more noises outside.

Ji Meiqing tried hard to ignore it, but it was no use. She eventually went down to check and found that almost the entire village had come. She quickly ran to Lu Yu's side and asked, "What's going on now? Why are there so many people?"

“They want to see the new houses we built here,” Lu Yu explained, his eyes also showing a questioning look.

Ji Meiqing frowned. "What if we can't see it? What will happen?"

"It won't be a big deal," he said, looking at the group. "They'll probably just think you're not giving them face."

Ji Meiqing immediately flew into a rage, "Is it disrespectful to them if I don't let them see my room? Why should they?!"

Lu Yu still smiled, his eyes filled with a touch of doting. "If you don't want to give it, then don't. Don't worry about what others think."

"I didn't want to give it to them in the first place. Please help me kick them all out so I can get a good night's sleep."

Finally, she let out a snort, the breath coming out through her nostrils. She left the mess to Lu Yu to clean up, then took off her shoes and socks and lay down on the bed for a comfortable nap.

She wasn't quite used to sleeping on a bed like a normal person's. Now that everything around the bed has been removed, leaving only two bedside tables, she feels a little more at ease sleeping like this.

Otherwise, I'd feel like I was filming a horror movie every time I woke up at night. Also, with that design, it's very difficult for light to get in.

It's better to just lie in bed and sleep until you naturally wake up every day.

The more she thought about it, the more tired she became, and finally drifted off to sleep. Lu Yu came to call her for lunch, only to find this scene. He was both amused and exasperated, but he let her sleep and went to take care of lunch himself.

Everyone outside had left, and the courtyard was quiet and peaceful. After waking up, Ji Meiqing went downstairs and lay down on the stone table in the courtyard for a while. Lu Yu came over from outside and saw her lying motionless on the stone table. He thought she was asleep, so he went to get a blanket to drape over her, but he didn't mean to disturb her.

"Brother Lu." She rubbed her eyes, her confused expression instantly clearing. "You're back."

"Why are you sleeping here?" Lu Yu frowned, not quite understanding her behavior. Seeing her bewildered expression, his tone softened considerably. "Aren't you afraid of catching a cold if you rest here?"

"Yes, I'm scared." She nodded, then said in a pitiful tone, "I just woke up and felt a little dizzy, so I lay here for a while. It's not as serious as you're making it out to be."

"Awake?" Lu Yu walked over, noticing the flush on her cheeks from oversleeping. She still looked a little dazed from just waking up.

Ji Meiqing adjusted her posture again, lazily rubbing her head. "I'm awake, but I didn't sleep well."

"How much longer do you want to sleep?" Lu Yu was both amused and exasperated by the answer. "If I keep sleeping, I won't be able to sleep at night."

"I feel dizzy..." Her lazy tone was very easy to touch people's hearts. Looking at her like this, Lu Yu felt a little itchy.

To avoid losing his composure, Lu Yu quickly changed the subject, "I just received a call from Xiaoyi saying that several restaurants want to cooperate with us, and we can decide on the price."

“For example, I think I can clean up tonight’s dinner right now,” she said directly.

Lu Yu had nothing to say and could only return to the kitchen.

Ji Meiqing watched his retreating figure and grinned. Silly, yet so happy—that's what family is all about.

Dinner was almost ready, but Ji Meiqing left. Lu Yu took off his apron and hurried out the door.

They found Ji Meiqing in the greenhouse, but she seemed quite busy.

Her strong and resonant voice came through the phone.

"Sales have been good lately, so many business owners want to cooperate with us. Therefore, I plan to hire more people, but in order to improve performance, all the people who were just loafing around here before will be let go."

As soon as she finished speaking, a murmur of disapproval rippled through the room. Ji Meiqing slammed her hand on the table, her face icy cold. “I don’t care how you got in here, but I absolutely cannot keep people like you who are just coasting along. If you think you’re just wasting your time, step forward, and I’ll settle your wages on the spot. If I find out, you’ll only get paid for what you’ve actually done.”

As soon as she finished speaking, panic erupted below. Everyone was racking their brains for a solution. Ji Meiqing glanced around, waited a moment, and then asked slowly, "Has anyone volunteered to come forward?"

She glanced around, but no one answered. Ji Meiqing asked again, but still no one stepped forward. After waiting a while, she got tired of looking and simply said they would discuss it later before leaving.

However, she was surprised to see Lu Yu here.

"Why are you here?"

Lu Yu's expression was calm. "I came to have dinner with you."
