Wine-scented Beauty

Chapter 61: Alienation

Chapter 61: Alienation

"After all, I'm a guest." She smiled, but inside she almost burst out laughing. She had never been a good person; she had been bullied in her past life, and she would never allow herself to be bullied by these backward ancient people in this life.

This sentence was particularly theatrical and manipulative, and Ji Meiqing, still not satisfied, added, "After all, you've lived together for so many years. I just came in halfway through. It's alright."

She almost applauded her own shamelessness, but thankfully, she glanced at him furtively before looking away.

Lu Yu felt somewhat guilty, but didn't know how to express it. His face was full of contemplation.

“Your room.” She stopped and looked at the room in front of her. “It’s all decorated according to your preferences. I don’t know if you’re satisfied.”

Lu Yu went in and glanced at it a few times. "Thank you."

Ji Meiqing shook her head and said softly, "No need to thank me, it's what I should do."

Lu Yu gave her a grateful look, then walked inside. Ji Meiqing followed behind him.

After a while, she asked cautiously again, "How is it? Are you satisfied?"

Lu Yu nodded. "Very good."

"That's good then. I was worried you wouldn't be satisfied." She said cautiously, with anticipatory excitement. Lu Yu was taken aback, then smiled at her, feeling a strange warmth in his heart.

"By the way, are you having lunch here today?" Ji Meiqing thought of this question and then immediately asked, "Hasn't the matter been resolved yet?"

"Almost, it should be ready in a few days." He estimated for a moment before giving his answer, and Ji Meiqing nodded thoughtfully.

She walked back and went straight to the kitchen. She had moved in yesterday and hadn't used it much today. The kitchen was fairly clean, so she picked out some of the better ingredients and cooked a bowl of noodles.

It wasn't even noon yet. She stayed in the kitchen for a while, and then Lu Yu came over.

"Let me do it." He walked over and tried to take the things from her hands, but Ji Meiqing dodged him.

"You go ahead and do your work, I'll take care of things here. After all, you haven't been home in a long time." She smiled stubbornly, while continuing to stuff firewood into Lu Yu's hands.

Lu Yu stood there for a while, then finally left. After he left, Ji Meiqing glanced at the doorway, then looked away.

Once the noodles were cooked, she took them out. Lu Yu stood at the door, his back view suggesting a sense of melancholy.

"Brother Lu, the noodles are ready."

The table was covered in wax, which she wiped off before placing it back on the table. Lu Yu walked over and took the chopsticks that Ji Meiqing handed him.

"You eat first, I'm going to get busy." She said and left without giving Lu Yu a chance to speak. Her room contained many wine jars, and she quickly familiarized herself with them before borrowing a cart. She planned to transport them all to Li's place, as the room here was small and they might break if left there.

When Lu Yu looked up, he saw Ji Meiqing struggling to carry the wine jar outside. He wanted to go and help her, but Ji Meiqing dodged him.

"It's okay, I can manage on my own," she said, and then went back to fetching more wine.

There was already quite a bit of wine on the cart, but Ji Meiqing still felt it wasn't enough. However, just to be on the safe side, she decided to put out this much for now.

She tried, but it was impossible for her to safely deliver so much wine to the Li family on her own. Since that was the case, she could only wait and see how things went.

"Are you alright?" Someone had appeared beside her at some point. Ji Meiqing looked over and saw that he had thick eyebrows and big eyes, and his physique looked quite strong.

After taking a look, Ji Meiqing already had a result in mind. She immediately smiled and said, "I wonder if this brother could help me get this to the Li family. I will offer a reward."

"No need, no need." He waved his hand, but still helped Ji Meiqing pull up the cart that was full of jars.

Ji Meiqing, standing beside him, smiled and said, "Thank you so much."

"It's nothing, it's nothing," he said with a smile.

When Lu Yu came out of the house and saw Ji Meiqing smiling brightly, he felt inexplicably choked up.

Unaware of what was happening, Ji Meiqing continued walking with him. Perhaps the cart was too heavy, because the boy stopped after walking for a while, and Ji Meiqing quickly wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"Thank you." The boy's face flushed red, and sweat dripped directly onto the ground.

As she was wiping, Lu Yu walked over and grabbed her hand.

"Why didn't you come to me?" he said, seemingly in a fit of pique, then walked between the two of them and easily lifted the car forward. Ji Meiqing stared wide-eyed at this scene.

He was incredibly strong; once he found out the location, he simply dragged the boat there without even breaking a sweat.

Upon arriving at the Li family's house, Ji Meiqing finally couldn't help but run over and ask, "Aren't you tired?"

He let out a sigh of relief and said calmly, "Not tired."

There wasn't a drop of sweat on his forehead, nor did his face turn red. Ji Meiqing secretly admired him, then ran over to thank the boy who had come with him.

"Thank you so much for today. Here are some thank-you gifts. If it's not enough, I'll send you more."

"No need." He declined, and looking at Lu Yu's gloomy face, he chuckled dryly, "Besides, I didn't really contribute much. If it weren't for Brother Lu, we might have had to spend even more time."

Ji Meiqing wanted to say something more, but watched him leave. Her gaze remained fixed on him, which made Lu Yu feel even more aggrieved, and he didn't know what was wrong with him.

When Li came out of the house and saw this scene, she immediately understood.

"Miss Ji, you've arrived." She called out, and Ji Meiqing turned around and smiled. Lu Yu, on the other hand, was in a daze, and when he came to his senses, she almost saw his absent-mindedness.

Ji Meiqing walked up to her and said directly, "I've brought everything over. I'll leave it with you for now."

“Okay.” Li agreed without hesitation.

The two of them worked together to return all the jars. There were quite a few jars on the car, and they got quite a bit dusty from rubbing them against their bodies.

Ji Meiqing didn't mind. The two of them carried the wine jars inside, back and forth. Fortunately, there was still some space on Li's side. Otherwise, if they had come over so carelessly, they would have had to spend time cleaning up if there was no space available.

Seeing this, Lu Yu also came over to help them move the items.

The three of them finished moving the items in no time. No one knew where Lu Yu got such strength; he was practically flying.

Having done all this, Ji Meiqing should have left, but behind her was Lu Yu…

He seemed very troubled, his brows furrowed.
