The Heavenly Dragon's Beginning in the Journey Through the Heavens
Chapter 41: Convincing the Women to Solve Qiao Feng's Problems
After exposing all of Kang Min's shameful deeds, Ling Feng, before they could even react, quickly took the three women and chased after Qiao Feng in the direction he had left.
No one dared to stop him now, since they didn't know if stopping Ling Feng would expose some other embarrassing secrets.
Moreover, they had clearly seen Quan Guanqing make his move; he had used almost all his strength, and even with Ling Feng's hasty response, he still managed to seriously injure him.
Those present asked themselves honestly, and realized that their strength was not much better than Quan Guanqing's. If they were to face Ling Feng, they would also find it difficult to gain the upper hand.
Under everyone's watchful eyes, Ling Feng and his companions walked out of the crowd's encirclement with an air of nonchalance.
After leaving the apricot grove, Ling Feng did not see Qiao Feng. He quickly asked the beggar on guard nearby, only to learn that Qiao Feng had already headed towards Wuxi City.
Now that they knew where Qiao Feng had gone, Ling Feng didn't delay any longer and quickly followed the direction he had gone, leading the three women to catch up.
After the group had walked some distance out of the apricot grove, Wang Yuyan finally spoke up and asked:
"Brother Feng, is everything you just said true? How do you know all this?"
This is also what the other two women are curious about. After all, such a secret matter is something that the parties involved would not say themselves, so how did Ling Feng find out about it?
Ling Feng naturally couldn't tell them that he had read it in a book, after all, it was rather shocking. But seeing the three of them looking at him like curious children, he couldn't just leave them without giving them an explanation. So, he had a sudden inspiration and started making things up:
"Actually, this is a long story."
"Then keep your story short."
Wang Yuyan wasn't going to be polite with him. When he was about to launch into a long, rambling speech, she immediately snapped at him.
Ling Feng, embarrassed by her retort, feigned a cough before continuing:
"Actually, it all started with my last trip. I happened to meet an old man with a white beard who told me that he was the leader of the Heavenly Mystery Sect."
"The main ability of their Heavenly Mystery Sect is to divine the secrets of heaven, and it is said that the Heavenly Mystery Sect has been passed down for nearly a thousand years to his generation."
"Their sect is all about passing down the knowledge to a single lineage. He hasn't taken on any disciples yet. He saw that I had extraordinary talent and was a martial arts prodigy that comes along only once in a century, so he insisted on taking me as his disciple."
"And he also told me that I should not easily reveal the affairs of our sect, because we have some powerful enemies, and if I did, my life would be in danger."
"After he taught me the method of divination, he left alone. He told me that he would come to see me again when I had mastered the skills, and then he would tell me about the Heavenly Secrets Sect."
"What I just told them was what I calculated using the Heavenly Calculation Method. Judging from their reaction at the time, it should be correct."
People these days wouldn't know about any legends about white-bearded old men, so the three of them were completely bewildered by Ling Feng's nonsense.
Seeing that he had temporarily intimidated them, Ling Feng urged them before they could react:
"Let's hurry up, I wonder where our brother is now!"
Distracted by Ling Feng's words, the girls stopped worrying about whether what Ling Feng had said was true or false, and quickened their pace to catch up with Qiao Feng, who had already disappeared from sight.
After a swift chase, the group finally caught up with Qiao Feng outside Wuxi City.
He was no longer the spirited man he once was; he appeared completely lost and helpless.
After all, anyone who suddenly learned such news would probably feel the same way as Qiao Feng.
When Qiao Feng saw Ling Feng and the others following him, he turned around and said to Ling Feng, looking dejected:
"Second brother, I'm sorry to have made you laugh."
"What are you saying, brother? Besides, these are not things you can choose for yourself."
Ling Feng didn't offer any further words of comfort, as that would seem too sentimental. Besides, Qiao Feng wasn't one to listen to consolation; he probably just wanted to get drunk right now. So Ling Feng laughed and said to Qiao Feng:
"Haha, brother, let's put those worries aside for now and find a place to have a good drink. Wouldn't that be great?"
Just as Ling Feng had guessed, Qiao Feng also had the idea of getting drunk. He laughed and said:
"Haha, alright, since my second brother has made this suggestion, then let's go and get drunk first."
The two then looked at each other and laughed, then turned and strode toward Wuxi City. The three women remained silent throughout, simply following them quietly.
The group of five arrived at Songhelou again. After entering, Qiao Feng loudly called out to the waiter:
"Waiter, bring us twenty catties of good wine, and be quick."
"Alright, please have a seat, sir. I'll get you some wine right away."
Qiao Feng came here intentionally to drown his sorrows, so he didn't order any snacks to go with his drinks.
As soon as they sat down, the waiter brought over two large jars of wine. Qiao Feng didn't stand on ceremony; he immediately broke the seal and started drinking the wine jars voraciously.
Ling Feng followed suit, picking up the wine jar and drinking heartily as if it were water, without worrying about getting drunk.
The two men downed ten catties of wine in one go, feeling much better afterward. They then called for more wine from the waiter before Ling Feng asked Qiao Feng:
"Brother, what are your plans next?"
"Sigh, I'm going to go home first and ask my parents to find out if things are really as they say."
After he finished speaking, he took the wine jar that the waiter brought over, filled the wine bowl, and then drank it all in one gulp.
Hearing his plans and thinking about what would happen to him later, Ling Feng thought for a moment and still offered a word of advice:
"Brother, you must already know in your heart that this matter cannot be faked. Moreover, I also know a little about the art of divination. If you want to go back and verify with your adoptive parents, you need to hurry. If I am not mistaken, someone will definitely try to stop you on this trip, and their lives will be in danger."
Ling Feng's sudden, seemingly mystical statement startled Qiao Feng, but knowing the matter was of great importance, he assumed Ling Feng wouldn't speak carelessly. He immediately pressed for an answer:
"Second brother, do you know something? Can you tell your elder brother?"
Seeing Qiao Feng's eagerness to know the answer, Ling Feng pondered for a moment and decided to tell him something, after all, he also had the right to know.
"Well, never mind. Since this art of divination is quite life-shortening, I'll just tell you what I can."
"Actually, your biological father did not die at Yanmen Pass. Of course, I don't know where he is now. If you go back to your adoptive parents to verify the truth of this matter, he will kill your adoptive parents first."
"Then I will lead you step by step down the path of becoming the public enemy of the martial arts world, making you directly hostile to the martial arts world of the Song Dynasty. Because of the incident at Yanmen Pass, he has now gone mad and all he thinks about is revenge."
"Moreover, your Beggars' Sect's trip south is also closely related to him."
Upon hearing that his biological father was not dead, Qiao Feng felt a complex mix of emotions; he didn't know whether to be happy or sad.
But then he remembered that Ling Feng's words about matters in the martial world were related to his biological father, and he quickly pressed for more information:
"What is the matter that my second brother mentioned concerning him?"
"Alas, the various masters who have recently died mysteriously are rumored in the martial arts world to have died from their own famous techniques, and they even used this to frame Murong Fu. In fact, it was all your father's doing."
"He wanted to use this to disrupt the entire martial arts world of the Song Dynasty, so that he could profit from the chaos and complete his revenge plan."
Although he found it hard to believe, Qiao Feng did not refute it, since he didn't know if it was true or not.
But he had already begun to believe it to some extent. If everything was as Ling Feng said, then his father must have a blood feud. Anyone with such a blood feud would probably become a ruthless demon.
Of course, this is just Ling Feng's opinion for now. He will investigate and verify everything later. Right now, the most urgent thing is to find his biological father and find out what happened back then.
