Chapter 181 A Dinner of Confrontation

Diana stood with her arms crossed in front of the magnificent mansion, her toes tapping impatiently on the ground.

She had been waiting at the door for a long time, and if it weren't for Adolf's constant reassurances, she would have left long ago.

crunch--

The tightly closed doors slowly opened, and two rows of maids in uniform stood on either side of the doors. A maid wearing glasses walked up and looked down at Diana with a scrutinizing gaze.

"You're Diana?"

Diana met his gaze, and the inexplicable hostility left her bewildered; she was certain it was the first time she had met this person.

"That's me! So what?"

The maid did not respond to Diana, but looked at Adolf instead.

"His Highness has invited you to lunch; you should feel honored! Please follow me!"

Adolf knew this lunch was definitely not going to be simple, and to avoid unnecessary trouble, he leaned close to Diana's ear and whispered:

"Anna, just talk less and eat more later!"

Diana nodded, instantly forgetting the maid's earlier disdain.

"No problem! Leave it to me!"

Seeing Diana's confident demeanor only made Adolf more uneasy.

The two were taken to a luxurious restaurant, where an extravagantly long table in the middle was laden with all sorts of delicious food.

Diana involuntarily swallowed, her eyes gleaming with a light she had never seen before.

Adolf pulled Diana aside and coughed lightly, afraid that she would rush over and start eating.

Diana wiped her mouth and gave Adolf a reassuring look.

After waiting for a moment, the eldest prince entered, accompanied by a maid. He approached Adolf with a broad smile.

"Long time no see! Dean Adolf, you really do look younger and younger!"

"I've been so busy lately! As you know, there are just too many things to handle in a kingdom every day. I'm so sorry to have kept you waiting for so long."

Adolf keenly grasped the hidden meaning in the eldest prince's words, which further confirmed his suspicions.

"Your Highness is too kind. We didn't actually wait that long."

The Crown Prince was very satisfied with Adolf's attitude.

The eldest prince looked at Diana and saw that she was staring intently at the food on the table.

"Miss Diana, these delicacies were specially prepared for you by the best chef in the capital!"

-

Diana did not respond, nor did she move her head; she continued to stare at the various foods on the table.

This scene shocked the surrounding maids; they couldn't believe that someone would dare to ignore His Highness.

Surprisingly, the eldest prince did not get angry.

"It seems Miss Diana is eager to taste these delicacies."

The eldest prince waved his hand, and the maids led the group to their seats and prepared the tableware.

Diana, who was finally getting to eat, looked around excitedly, only to find that neither of them seemed ready to start eating.

Finally, her gaze settled on the eldest prince, her eyes seeming to ask, "Why aren't we eating yet?"

The eldest prince very gentlemanly extended his hand in a gesture of invitation.

"Enjoy your meal, Miss Diana. Please make yourself at home and don't stand on ceremony!"

Diana's eyes lit up, she made an OK sign, then leaned on the table, picked up the golden-brown roasted suckling pig in the middle, and started showing it off!

Diana has been eyeing this roast suckling pig for a long time.

Adolf's hand trembled as soon as he picked up his fork. He swore he would never take Diana out to eat again; it was just too embarrassing.

The eldest prince frowned as he watched Diana eat without any restraint, but considering his upcoming plans, he decided to tolerate it.

"Dean Adolf, I've heard that Oliver City has been promoting many new technologies? They're very convenient."

Adolf put down his fork.

"These are all minor matters, nothing remarkable in terms of technology."

The eldest prince waved his hand.

“This is no small matter! You have made the technology available to the common people, and many nobles have already expressed their dissatisfaction with this.”

"Now Oliver City has even implemented a new constitution, and someone has reported that you are plotting a rebellion! Is that true, Dean?"

Adolf's heart skipped a beat, but he outwardly feigned anger.

"This is utter slander!"

"Dean, there's no need to be angry. I know your loyalty to the kingdom!"

Before Adolf could even breathe a sigh of relief, the eldest prince continued:

"but--"

"Oliver City's actions are indeed suspicious! If this continues, even if I trust you, Dean, the other nobles won't let it go!"

"If the nobles unite, it will be very troublesome."

Adolf, sensing the unspoken meaning, narrowed his eyes slightly.

"Oh? What brilliant idea does Your Highness have?"

The eldest prince pondered for a moment.

"By having Diana marry into the royal family, there will naturally be no question of rebellion!"

"As for those nobles, it's simply a matter of interests; sharing all the academy's technology will settle things."

Adolf sneered inwardly, 'What a pipe dream!'

"What? Does the dean think there's a problem with my proposed solution?"

The eldest prince's tone was filled with an unquestionable attitude.

Adolf's gaze grew cold.

"Your Highness is so humorous!"

The two stared at each other intently, and the temperature around them seemed to drop several degrees.

A soft thud—the sound of a plate hitting the table rang out. Although the sound was not loud, it was unusually abrupt in the tense atmosphere.

Everyone's eyes turned in unison to the direction from which the sound came.

Diana wiped her mouth with her greasy hands.

Are you still going to eat?

The eldest prince and Adolf then realized that there was no food left on the table; all the plates were empty.

'Are you being impolite?! We haven't even eaten a single bite yet!'
