Chapter 101 Calm down
Diana led the last few dozen children to the inner city guards' camp. She had already marked each of the children she had rescued, and through her detection skills, she discovered that the children she had rescued at the beginning had all been gathered here.
The downpour stopped, and the sky gradually brightened.
The soldiers guarding the camp gate saw a group of children walking over and assumed that someone had brought them back. Just as they were about to go forward to help, they suddenly noticed Diana, who was dressed in white, at the front, and their bodies instantly froze.
They all knew about Diana's defeat of the Knights, and the terrified expressions on the faces of the soldiers returning from their patrol were still vivid in their minds.
The guards were sweating profusely and dared not make a sound, fearing that this god of death would kill them with a single sword stroke.
Diana stopped in front of the camp gate and coldly glanced at the military camp.
"Bring those children out, or die!"
One of the guards almost collapsed to his knees.
"No...it's none of our business! We're just gatekeepers! I'll go report it right away!"
After saying that, the man limped into the military camp, and soon a general and some soldiers arrived at the gate.
The general was all smiles. Capture Diana? No way! Even the Knights had suffered heavy casualties; how could these ordinary soldiers possibly stop them!
"Don't worry, Miss! I've already sent someone to bring the children over!"
Diana glanced at him, then flew straight into the sky. Before the general could even breathe a sigh of relief, Diana's voice echoed from the heavens!
"From this day forward! Anyone who dares to abduct children again, no matter who they are, will be killed!"
Many people in the inner city and outside came out of their houses, looked up at the sky, and tried to find the source of the sound.
Some curious people began to inquire about what had happened, while many more from the outer city scoffed at the arrogant voice. Wasn't this courting death? How could the authority of the nobility be violated!
Only those who have witnessed Diana's power in the inner city truly believe this statement!
Inside the academy, Little White's ears twitched, and it jumped to the window to look out, hoping to see Diana return.
At the same time, various rumors began to spread throughout the capital.
Adolf and his party, who were searching for Diana on horseback through the streets, heard the sound and immediately turned their horses around, heading towards the source of the noise.
Adolf hurried along the road with an anxious expression. Upon receiving the news, he immediately summoned several academicians to search for Diana.
'This is really worrying! They've only been gone for a day and they've already caused such a commotion!'
When Adolf and the others arrived, they saw Diana floating in the air from afar, with a dark mass of children gathered below her, their clothes tattered and their bodies thin.
Seeing that Diana was alright, Adolf breathed a sigh of relief. He had originally intended to give Diana a good scolding once he found her, but seeing this scene softened his heart.
"Anna!"
Diana turned around, and her cold, blood-red eyes startled Adolf. 'Is this still the same carefree Diana?'
Adolf's voice trembled slightly.
"Anna! Let's go back! Your friends are waiting for you!"
Images of her life with everyone flashed through Diana's mind, and the blood red in her pupils gradually faded, returning to a silver-gray.
Diana smiled and nodded.
Adolf breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Diana had recovered. 'He thought Diana had gone berserk; thankfully it was just a false alarm!'
Diana landed in front of Adolf and the others. Seeing how soaked and travel-worn they were, she was touched, knowing they were genuinely worried about her. She bowed to them.
"I'm sorry to have worried you masters!"
Adolf waved his hand.
"I'm glad you're alright! It's just a few shops, nothing serious!"
Phyllis burst into laughter.
"Anna! Well done! These nobles need to be taught a lesson! They're used to being arrogant and domineering!"
Diana nodded.
"Yes! Those nobles were indeed despicable! It's a pity they all escaped! We only managed to kill a few!"
The group shuddered. Only a few were killed? Do you think nobles are as common as cabbages?!
Adolf wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.
"No...it's alright! It's not a big problem. Your current status is very special, and the king won't turn against you for the sake of a few nobles!"
Diana looked completely indifferent.
"Turn against me? If he tries to stop me again, it won't just be a matter of a few knights dying!"
The group exchanged bewildered glances. This was a serious matter. Killing the knight meant this was no longer a simple dispute; it was a challenge to the king's authority!
Adolf grabbed Diana's arm.
"Anna! Let's go back to the academy first!"
Diana didn't move, but glanced behind her, where the children were all looking at her with longing eyes.
"We have to take them with us! I promised to take them away, and I won't let them go hungry anymore!"
Adolf glanced at the dense crowd of children, which numbered at least a thousand. He couldn't just leave them alone, but the sheer number of people entering the academy at once was also a bit stressful!
In the end, Adolf agreed. Fortunately, the academy wasn't too far away. He asked the academicians to go back and arrange for carriages to come and pick up the children, as some of them were still very weak!
After the academicians had all ridden away, Adolf gripped his staff tightly, looking anxiously toward the palace gates, ready to face the knights' attack at any moment!
Diana then stepped forward to the front of the crowd.
"It's almost time for breakfast! Everyone line up and come to me for your food!"
The calm crowd began to stir.
"No need to squeeze, just form two lines, everyone will get one, I promise!"
The crowd quickly quieted down; they were quite willing to listen to what Diana had to say.
Once the crowd had lined up in two orderly rows, Diana nodded in satisfaction. Then, as she reached for the food in her bracelet, she realized it had all been distributed the night before.
Diana felt a little embarrassed as she looked at the children lining up with expectant eyes. Although there was no main course, she could still give them some fruit.
Diana stomped on the bluestone and, amidst the puzzled looks of the crowd, threw a few seeds into the exposed soil.
A green magic circle appeared out of thin air.
Everyone watched in astonishment as green shoots sprouted from the ground, then rapidly grew into three large trees in the blink of an eye, quickly blossoming and bearing fruit!
The three fruit trees were laden with apples, pears, and oranges, respectively.
A whirlwind swept by, and all the fruits fell down, then were held up by an invisible force, suspending them in mid-air.
The children stared blankly at the scene before them. Was this a god? This power was something they never dared to dream of. If they possessed this power, they would truly have an endless supply of food!
The difference in magic power required to control and create plants using wood-attribute magic is enormous!
Adolf's lips twitched. He'd expended so much magic just to have breakfast! And now the world was fraught with danger!
"Don't just stand there! Come over and get some fruit! We'll eat when we get back to the college!"
The two girls in front of them stepped forward and held out their hands. Three different fruits fell into their hands. One of the girls squeezed the fruit in her hand tightly, as if trying to confirm whether it was real.
Diana smiled.
"Eat without worry, you can come back for more if you're still hungry!"
The girl clutched the fruit tightly in her hand, tears streaming down her face. She had never eaten such beautiful, fresh fruit before.
"Thank you!"
Diana went over and wiped away her tears.
"It's okay, you can eat as much as you want from now on!"
The girl nodded emphatically, her eyes filled with anticipation for the future.
