Transmigrated into a Farmhouse: The Stepmother Spoils Her Child to the Heavens

Chapter 3 The Poisonous Woman's Protective instincts

Ershi is shrewd and clever, unlike Dachui who is honest and simple, or Sanhu who is young and ignorant.

He secretly spied on what the original owner had hidden and what valuable things he had.

Inside the house, Lin Cai was unaware that Er Shi had inadvertently guessed her 'identity'.

He took a piece of chocolate from the refrigerator, broke off a piece, and put it in Chunhua's mouth.

Suddenly, Chunhua, stunned by the sweet smell of chocolate, stopped crying.

With wide eyes and an expression that seemed to have had her worldview completely shattered, Lin Cai couldn't help but chuckle to herself.

The mother and daughter were brought closer together by a piece of chocolate.

Ershi and the others didn't have the habit of eating breakfast, so Dachui took Sanhu to work in the fields.

After coaxing Chunhua, Lin Cai went to knead dough and make pancakes.

"Second Brother, candy, candy that Mother gave me!" The little girl was reluctant to eat it, and with a small piece of melted chocolate in her mouth, she took it out and stuffed it into Ershi's mouth.

When Ershi saw that it was dark, he thought it was poison and dared not take it out. He even patted Chunhua's hand to make her spit it out.

Chunhua was so angry that she ignored him and happily ran to the kitchen to cling to Lin Cai.

Ershi felt he had discovered the truth and, thinking he was being discreet, stared at Lin Cai in the kitchen, scrutinizing her.

A monster? Or a wandering ghost?

Thinking about the legends in the village, Ershi looked at the white dough and couldn't help but wonder, is this still a good 'ghost'?

The cabinet wasn't locked last night, and Ershi secretly went to rummage through it, but there was no flour at all.

As a result, the stepmother found flour as soon as she entered the kitchen.

Lin Cai was unaware that her true nature had been completely exposed in front of Er Shi.

She never expected that an eleven or twelve-year-old child in ancient feudal society would be so meticulous.

Chunhua lit a fire, and Lin Cai made several egg pancakes, giving one to her first.

"Mmm, it's delicious! Mom, you should eat some too!"

"Mom, eat later."

One pot is used to make pancakes, and another pot is used to cook millet porridge. Once the pancakes are cooked, the porridge is ready to eat.

"Ershi, take these cakes and porridge to your brother and the others in the fields."

Lin set aside a few portions for himself and Chunhua, then placed the basket in it and called out to Ershi in the yard.

She sensed that Ershi was looking at her strangely, but she didn't think much of it.

"Eat your food before you go," Lin Cai said, handing him the food and adding, "Be careful on the way, don't spill anything."

The pancake with eggs was cooked in a small amount of oil until it turned a tempting golden brown.

Ershi didn't even have time to think about how his stepmother was inhuman; he ate two or three pieces in one go before stopping.

Then, Lin Cai handed him the basket, and he went out in a daze to deliver food to his older brother.

As I walked along, I realized that I was usually too hungry to sleep, and my stomach would grow even hungrier as soon as it got light. But after a bowl of millet porridge and a few palm-sized egg pancakes, my stomach felt warm and cozy.

If the 'wild ghosts' continue to treat them this well, it's actually not bad.

"Hey Stone, what are you carrying? Why is it covered with a cloth? Let me see it."

Suddenly, Aunt Pang, who had just finished washing clothes and was returning home, blocked Ershi's way, peering furtively into the basket as if she could see through it.

"N-nothing..."

"Bring it to me, you!"

...

After finishing their meal, Gu Jia, Lin Cai, and Chunhua prepared to tidy up and go for a walk around the village later.

"Aunt Cai Niang, Er Shi was beaten by Aunt Pang..." a timid little girl whispered, peeking out from the courtyard gate.

Lin Cai was taken aback. Didn't Er Shi go to deliver the food?

He immediately realized what was happening and ran away.

"You little brat, you dare to bite me..."

From afar, Lin Cai ran over and saw Er Shi being pressed down on the knees of a large, plump woman. The small Er Shi's face was flushed red from being pressed down.

The plump aunt muttered curses under her breath as she used her own weight to press down two stones, while also eating the egg pancakes that Lin Cai had made for the children.

Upon seeing this, Lin Cai's eyes immediately turned red, and she rushed over and kicked the fat aunt.

The powerful impact sent Aunt Pang flying off Ershi and crashing heavily to the ground.

"Oh, that damned bastard—" Aunt Fatty sprawled on the ground and started cursing.

Lin Cai ignored her and looked at Er Shi. His originally dark skin was now swollen with several finger marks from being slapped, and blood was trickling from the corner of his mouth.

Ershi, lying on the ground, looked up and saw Lin Cai's angry yet distressed eyes. He felt inexplicably wronged and swallowed back the word "Mother" that was on the tip of his tongue.

"Pooh!"

He got up and spat at Aunt Pang like a little wolf cub, spitting a tooth along with blood and saliva onto her.

"You little brat..." Aunt Pang cursed angrily, pulling Ershi towards her, her face full of fat trembling.

Ershi was not intimidated at all; he gritted his teeth and was ready to go forward and fight Aunt Pang.

In remote, impoverished areas, if you don't stand up for yourself and fight back, you'll be bullied to death sooner or later.

Although Ershi was young, he understood these things early on and never expected to rely on anyone.

However, this time, a figure was faster than him.

"Clap!"

"You dared to bully my Ershi! I'll teach you to be ruthless!"

"Clap clap clap!"

Enraged, Lin Cai jumped on the fat aunt, grabbed her neck with one hand, and slapped her repeatedly with the other.

She had just overheard what the villagers watching the commotion were saying.

Not only did the fat aunt snatch the egg pancakes from Ershi's basket, but she also kicked Ershi.

Ershi, who had been kicked, got up and bit Aunt Pang, only to be grabbed by the collar and slapped repeatedly until one of his teeth was knocked out.

Aunt Pang, who rarely lost a fight due to her size, was now being choked by Lin Cai and was unable to exert any strength in her limbs, so she could only watch helplessly as Lin Cai choked her.

Ershi stared blankly at Lin Cai, who was riding on top of the fat aunt and venting his anger for him.

A mix of grievance and joy welled up inside him; his mother was protecting him.

"call!"

Lin Cai stopped slapping Aunt Pang's face until it was swollen. She was still furious at the thought that Er Shi had lost one of his teeth.

The villagers who were watching the commotion didn't step in to break up the fight, and even though Lin Cai was the one beating someone, they didn't interfere.

Fights often broke out in the village, so they were used to it; it was just a matter of who was stronger.

"Let me tell you, if anyone dares to bully my child again, don't blame me for calling my brother and the others to come over to your house for a chat!"

Lin Cai was just a woman after all, and she could only intimidate them by invoking her brother's reputation.

"Oh my, has the sun risen in the west? A stepmother has finally learned to care for her stepson?"

"Everyone knows she's the most ruthless when it comes to beating Ershi and his brothers."

Upon hearing this, the villagers whispered amongst themselves, looking at Lin Cai with disdain.

After all, the Lin family's bad reputation was well-known throughout the surrounding area.

Under normal circumstances, they would avoid provoking others if possible.

But this time, no one expected that Lin Cai would get into a fight with the equally shrewish fat aunt for the sake of a stepson.

Mentioning the original owner's older brothers made their faces look as if they had swallowed flies.

Just a couple of years ago, a man in the village had a sharp tongue and made a dirty joke at the original owner's place. The original owner and his brothers came to his door and almost caused his family to be ruined.

Lin Cai, this widow who supposedly caused the deaths of her husbands, was not someone to be trifled with; they avoided her like the plague.

After uttering a harsh remark, Lin Cai told Chunhua to call Da Chui and the others back for dinner, while she took Er Shi home.
