Expelled from the Duke's mansion, the fake heiress is richer than a country.

Chapter 25 Second Sister Returns to Her Parents' Home

In her previous life, Yu Cuicui returned to her parents' home several times because of her, bringing gifts and favors. As a result, the Yu family indulged her and caused her trouble.

She also had a violent physical altercation with Yu Cuicui.

Yu Cuicui accused her of being selfish, and she slapped Yu Cuicui several times. Yu Cuicui's young son, Zhou Haoyang, staggered up and bit her, and she pushed the little guy, making him fall on his bottom.

From then on, Yu Cuicui's family became her enemy. Yu Wenrong later kicked her out of the Yu family, to which Yu Cuicui clapped her hands and feet in delight.

Thinking about all the foolish things she did in her previous life, Yu Wanran covered her face.

They've been bewitched!

It took more than twenty years of painful trials to correct her inherent flaw of having a "rich girl's mentality" despite not having the life of one. But the price she paid was far too high.

Around noon, probably because they had been talking about it so much, Yu Cuicui really did come back to her parents' home!

Yu Wanran quietly observed her second sister, who was walking towards her with a smile from the other end of the field path.

She was robust and full-figured, with a face that resembled her father's, appearing somewhat rugged. She carried a large basket on her back, held her son Zhou Haoyang's hand with her left hand, and slung a small blue cloth bundle over her right. Because of her pregnancy, her steps were somewhat unsteady and labored.

"Second sister!"

Yu Wenrong rushed over to greet her. He took off Yu Cuicui's large basket and handed it to his older brother Yu Wenbin, who had followed him. Then he bent down, picked up his little nephew, bounced him a few times in mid-air, and carried him on his own shoulder.

Zhou Haoyang was amused and giggled, grabbing his uncle's forehead tightly with his two little hands. It seemed he both loved to play and was afraid of falling.

"Second sister, why did you bring Yangyang alone?"

Yu Wenrong looked around but couldn't find his second brother-in-law, Zhou Can, and his expression immediately turned sour.

"My brother-in-law is really at ease, letting you come back alone with the baby while you're pregnant!"

Yu Cuicui looked a little uncomfortable, but explained with a smile, "No, your second brother-in-law escorted me all the way to the village entrance. It's just that, given his status during the New Year... he was afraid that my mother would dislike him if he went in, so he waited outside the village."

She hesitated to continue, in fact, she was afraid of being scolded by her mother when she went back to her parents' home. But having heard that something had happened at home, she insisted on coming back to visit during the New Year holiday, no matter what.

Yu Wenbin frowned.

“Since we’re already here, how can we let my second sister’s husband stand there in the cold wind at the village entrance? It’s so cold, it would be a real problem if he caught a cold… I’ll go get him!”

As he spoke, he carried his basket on his back and walked towards the village entrance.

Yu Cuicui hesitated for a moment, reaching out her hand but not saying anything to stop him. After all, she didn't want her husband to accompany her back to her parents' home for the New Year, only to be pitifully left outside because of his status, afraid of offending anyone.

"Second sister, don't worry!"

Yu Wenrong winked and tried to reassure her: "Since Mother was injured, her temper has improved a lot. There's a newly recognized third sister in the family..."

Because of their third sister's former status, their family, being peasants, unconsciously restrained many of their tempers and bad habits, trying their best to behave properly in front of their third sister.

Yu Cuicui looked at the person slowly following behind her younger brother. The woman had a graceful figure, and her plain-colored cloth dress was well-tailored. Her brows revealed a faint peace, like a secluded orchid blooming in a secluded valley, quiet and elegant.

Indeed, different kinds of rice nourish different kinds of people.

Despite sharing the same roots and being raised in a prestigious family with a tradition of poetry, literature, and etiquette, they took a completely different turn in life.

She was the third sister. But in reality, she was no longer the third sister in the true sense.

"Second sister..."

Yu Wanran walked up to the three of them, smiling serenely. Looking at Zhou Haoyang, who was tilting his head and staring at her with wide eyes, she reached out and patted his head, a hint of guilt from her past life in her eyes.

Zhou Haoyang quickly pulled his head back, his little face flushed red as he buried it in his uncle's hair, his awkwardness and shyness in front of strangers were clearly evident.

Upon seeing this, Yu Wenrong let out a hearty laugh. He mischievously plucked his little nephew and stuffed him into Yu Wanran's arms.

"This is your third aunt! Go, let her give you a hug!"

Zhou Haoyang twisted his body, his limbs tightly wrapped around his arm, like a little monkey hanging from a tree, impossible to pull off.

Yu Cuicui was afraid that their first meeting might make her unfamiliar third sister feel awkward. She quickly patted her son on the back and explained to Yu Wanran with a smile.

"Third Sister! You're the third sister, aren't you?"

Seeing Yu Wanran nod, she quickly added, "This child is shy and doesn't like to go out to play at home. He doesn't have many playmates, and he's stubborn and taciturn. Third Sister, please don't mind him."

After saying that, he urged his son, "Quickly call her, call her Third Aunt!"

However, Zhou Haoyang nestled in Yu Wenrong's arms, wiggling his bottom towards Yu Wanran, and refused to make a sound. This embarrassed Yu Cuicui, who was about to give her son a good slap on the bottom.

Yu Wanran smiled and stopped her, taking out something she had prepared and handing it to Zhou Haoyang.

"Look, your aunt gave you a little gift. Do you like it?"

It was a small slingshot she made by hand. Knowing that her second sister's family was likely to come back for the Chinese New Year, she used her spare time to make this little toy.

Penniless, I can only find ways to make money without spending any money.

Finding resilient hardwood took considerable effort, and hemp fiber was used instead of the sinew used for the bowstring. It was washed, dried, and repeatedly rubbed until it gained sufficient elasticity to be made into a thin yet strong bowstring.

Looking at the little slingshot, not only did Zhou Haoyang's eyes light up, but Yu Wenrong also immediately felt envious: "Third sister, when did you make this slingshot? You didn't even make one for me! Humph..."

It feels like all his deep love for his sister was wasted.

"How old are you? Why are you still playing this?"

Yu Wanran rolled her eyes at him, annoyed: "Didn't you want to learn martial arts? Once you've mastered the basics, I'll give you a wooden stick to use as a sword!"

When the topic of horse stance comes up, Yu Wenrong immediately wilted.

Zhou Haoyang took the slingshot and hugged it with both hands, rubbing and playing with it. Yu Cuicui glanced over and noticed that the wood used to make the slingshot was polished smooth, clearly to prevent hurting the child's delicate hands.

She felt a warm glow in her heart and was deeply moved.

"Third sister, you're so thoughtful!"

Turning her head, she patted her son with a little more force: "Aren't you going to thank your third auntie?"

Zhou Haoyang immediately looked up, gave Yu Wanran a big, bright smile, and said in a clear voice, "Thank you, Third Aunt!"

Yu Wanran smiled: "As long as Yangyang likes it."

The three siblings walked back to the courtyard. Feeling apprehensive as they approached home, Yu Cuicui led her son carefully into the house.

"Father, Mother, I'm back..."

Yu Man was talking to Ji Chunhua about something, and his face was not good. When he saw his second daughter returning to her parents' home, he barely managed to suppress his anger.

"Cui Cui, you brought the child back, but where is Zhou Can?"

Although she didn't like her second son-in-law, Ji Chunhua was even more unhappy that Zhou Can was so comfortable letting his daughter come back alone while she was heavily pregnant.

Yu Cuicui hurriedly said, "Isn't it because I was afraid he would bring bad luck to my parents? He saw us off at the village entrance, and then I asked him to wait there."

As she spoke, she nudged her son in her arms: "Yangyang, quickly wish your grandparents a Happy New Year!"
