Chapter 95 Don't Forget the Wine When the Big Fish Is Here
The people surrounding the Jade Capital Terrace have all received the Emperor's three edicts.
Some were happy, some were worried, some were doubtful, and they dispersed in twos and threes after discussing it among themselves.
Xu Ning had finally managed to see Gan Yu again and was racking his brains to find a topic to chat about when he suddenly realized that his mind seemed to be full of the dark history of the True Lord Gulu Descending the Mountain, the kind of thing that would end their friendship as soon as he opened his mouth.
Before I could decide, Uncle Tian walked up behind me.
Gan Yu was already feeling guilty for being late today, and when she saw Uncle Tian coming over, she hurriedly said, "I still have work to finish..."
He turned and ran away.
As Gan Yu talked about work, Xu Ning punched his palm with his fist. "I've got it! Next time, I'll talk to her about overtime and health!"
"What kind of wicked scheme are you up to now, kid?"
Uncle Tian looked at Xu Ning suspiciously, clearly sensing that this kid wanted to do something to Sister Gan Yu.
Xu Ning gave Uncle Tian a helpless wink, "The Big Dipper and the Ningguang are both here, so don't say anything out of line!"
Uncle Tian sneered, "You dare to daydream about your little sister when the leader of the Seven Stars invites you for tea? Are you afraid of these two girls?"
"The ritual to summon immortals is over. Would you be interested in accompanying this old man to the docks for some fishing?"
Look at you, you're calling yourself an old man, do you think I'd be interested in keeping you company?
"I have."
Xu Ning immediately took the two fishing rods and the fish basket from one of the guards behind Uncle Tian.
After all, Ningguang's seven-star position is still incomplete, so she should listen to what she is told.
When Beidou saw that Xu Ning was going fishing, he turned around and wanted to follow him, but Ningguang pulled him back.
Instead of exiting through the main gate of Yujingtai, Uncle Tian and Xu Ning walked down a secluded path along the back mountain.
"Don't give me that sour look. I'm not afraid to tell you, even if Ningguang becomes the Tianquan Star, she'll still be working under me. If you don't make me happy, I'll make things difficult for her later."
Xu Ning, swaying behind Uncle Tian with his fishing rod, nodded perfunctorily while drinking, saying, "Yes, yes, you're absolutely right!"
However, Xu Ning was inwardly ranting and raving.
You probably don't know Ningguang's title in the future. "The most powerful star of Liyue" is not a title given for nothing.
Are you going to make things difficult for her? You'll probably have to listen to her then. I'm starting to get a little afraid of her glaring at me.
Since they had already accomplished the most important task of the day, the two of them walked slowly, leisurely passing by Chihu Rock, and arrived at the place where Uncle Tian often fished.
But to their surprise, a young boy was already sitting there fishing.
"Heh, you're here pretty early today."
Uncle Tian seemed quite familiar with the boy. "Move over a bit. I brought another guy with me today."
The young man turned his head, looked at Xu Ning seriously, and smiled, "Uncle Tian, are you done with your business?"
Uncle Tian nodded, "Yes, I'm done with work. I've got some free time, so I'm here to fish for a bit."
"Come on, everyone, try the bait I made. Let me tell you, no fish from Liyue dislikes it."
Seeing Uncle Tian taking fish bait out of the fish basket, Xu Ning took out a jar of "nectar" and two porcelain bowls from the cave.
He handed a porcelain bowl to the boy sitting on the other side of Uncle Tian and asked, "What kind of wine can you drink?"
The boy was taken aback, took the wine bowl, and said, "I've never drunk wine before."
Xu Ning nodded, "You can't drink the wine in that jar, it's too strong. Drink the wine from my gourd instead!"
Xu Ning poured him a full bowl of "sweet wine," and the boy quickly thanked him.
"Thank you. My name is Zhiyi. May I ask your name?"
Xu Ning was filling the wine jar to the brim when he heard the name "Zhiyi" and looked up at the little traitor with a deep gaze.
"Just call me Xu Ning."
Uncle Tian tore off two pieces of the prepared bait and gave them to Xu Ning and Zhi Yi. He then baited his own bait, steadily cast the rod into the water with one hand, and still managed to hold the wine bowl in the other hand and drink without swaying. It was clear that he was quite skilled.
Zhiyi also baited the hook properly and held the fishing rod level, quietly watching the water surface.
Xu Ning, however, found fishing the most troublesome. It would take him a long time to catch a single fish while squatting there, which was too inefficient.
Perhaps a small spark is what suits his heart best.
Xu Ning plunged the fishing rod into the soil with a "plop," hooked a mouthful of bait onto the hook, casually tossed the hook into the water, and then lay down at an angle.
Seeing this, Uncle Tian laughed and scolded, "I've been busy since yesterday and I've never acted as lazy as you. Get up! How can you catch fish like this?"
Xu Ning smiled but didn't move.
"Old man, do you know how I sell wine?"
"That day at the dock, I pushed a jar of Tianlu directly off the table, and the aroma of the wine flowing on the ground opened up the entire Liyue market. It was all because my wine was good."
"I've already thrown the bait into the water. If no fish come to bite, it's not my fault for not being good at it."
Uncle Tian burst into laughter, "So if you can't catch any fish, you'll blame my bait for not being good enough? Well, just wait and see, I'll show you how terrifying it is when mindset, technique, and bait are combined!"
Xu Ning removed the fish from the hook and put it into the fish basket. Then, just like before, he stuck the fishing rod back in place and said, "I'm waiting," as he lay down.
Uncle Tian shook the fish basket incredulously, seemingly muttering a curse under his breath, then drank the wine in his bowl and gestured for Xu Ning to pour some.
Xu Ning poured wine for Uncle Tian, but he was extremely bored and his eyes kept glancing at Zhi Yi.
The boy was quite good-looking, but his clothes, worn slightly faded at the joints, suggested that his family was not well-off.
However, the fact that he was chosen as a disciple by Uncle Tian in Liyue Harbor, a place bustling with millions of people, is enough to prove his extraordinary nature.
However, he seemed to have a strong competitive drive; ever since he caught the fish, he seemed to have become extremely nervous.
Suddenly, Zhiyi's fishing rod moved, and the fishing line was suddenly pulled straight.
Zhiyi was overjoyed and quickly lifted his rod, only to find that he had caught nothing.
Seeing his disappointed look, Uncle Tian shook his head slightly, just about to give him some pointers.
Unexpectedly, Xu Ning spoke first.
"You should have had a sip of wine first."
Zhiyi was taken aback, then turned to Xu Ning and asked, "What kind of wine do you want to drink?"
Xu Ning pointed to the wine bowl beside him, "I poured you this wine! You haven't even drunk it yet. If you had drunk a sip of my wine before setting the hook, I guarantee you would have caught a big fish."
Zhiyi smiled gently, "You mean I was too hasty in raising my rod, right? I was so competitive just now, I was only thinking about overtaking you, and I was indeed a bit impatient for a moment."
Uncle Tian nodded slightly when he heard Zhiyi's words. This child was actually quite perceptive.
Xu Ning shook his head instead, stared into Zhiyi's eyes, and laughed, "I'm not trying to teach you how to fish! You and Uncle Tian definitely know more about fishing than I do!"
"I mean, I've been pouring you a bowl of wine for ages, and you won't even take a sip. If you had taken a sip and said something positive before we started fishing, we would both be happy now."
Zhiyi readily accepted the suggestion, picked up the wine bowl, took a deep sip, and then said with emotion, "I've never tasted such delicious... wine before?"
Xu Ning laughed and refilled his glass, saying, "This isn't quite the real thing you're drinking. Take your time to get used to it."
"Whenever there's a big fish in front of us, don't forget my wine, or neither of us will be happy."
