Rebirth of a Farmer's Dad
Chapter 83: Promoting rice and grudges
Left with no other choice, Luo Shun had to follow his father's instructions and call Luo Feng upstairs. Of course, he was still quite perceptive and deliberately avoided the restaurant's busiest mealtime hours.
"What exactly do you mean by this? Give me an explanation."
Luo Feng was immediately stumped by his uncle's question and had no idea what he was up to.
"Uncle, what do you mean by that?" Luo Feng was a little unhappy. No one can tolerate being wronged again and again.
“I entrusted Shunzi to you so you could teach him a skill so he could find a wife in the future. But what have you done? You’re nowhere to be seen all day, and you’ve handed Shunzi over to a mediocre person. Tell me, how can you do this to me?” The uncle pointed at Luo Feng’s nose and said, seeing that Luo Feng showed no remorse.
This only made Luo Feng angrier.
"You old bastard, how have I wronged you? You were the one who insisted on shoving the straight into my hand. I wasn't even planning to accept it, but you cornered me and forced me to take it. Now look what you've done, turning around and blaming me. I really don't know if your conscience has been eaten by dogs." Luo Feng cursed the old man in his heart, but his face remained calm and composed, as if he wasn't the one being criticized.
"Uncle, what are you saying? Shunzi is a beginner, he has to learn from scratch. I handed him over to Hu Zi so he could learn some basic skills from Hu Zi. I really don't have time to teach him these things. It's not too late for me to teach him after he's learned enough from Hu Zi." Luo Feng still had to explain the matter to his uncle with a helpless expression to avoid the old man misunderstanding.
"What kind of talk is that? It sounds so grating to my ears! You're clearly shirking your responsibility. If you don't want to take on an apprentice, just say so. I'll take Shunzi back." At this point, the uncle was clearly not listening to anything and started arguing with Luo Feng unreasonably.
Hearing his words, Luo Feng was so angry he almost exploded.
"What kind of talk is that, old man? It's like I'd love for your son to stay here. To be honest, our shop doesn't really rely on him. I'd gladly give you my full support if you wanted to leave with your son. Anyway, we don't have much interaction between our two families. You'd better go as far away as possible in the future, so I don't want to see you and get annoyed," Luo Feng thought to himself.
Although he was not very satisfied with his uncle's words, he couldn't show it on his face. However, this time, Luo Feng didn't know what to say, and the atmosphere at the scene became very awkward.
"Dad! Say less. I'm doing fine here, and Fengzi is good to me too. Besides, my basic skills are still lacking. I haven't even mastered knife skills yet. It's a bit early to start learning to cook. It's not too late to learn later!" Shunzi tried to smooth things over and ease the awkward atmosphere.
"What do you know, you brat? When adults are talking, children shouldn't interrupt. You go stand over there," the uncle said, glaring at Shunzi.
Seeing this, Shunzi immediately fell silent. Luo Feng had heard him say that he had been beaten by his father since he was a child, so every time he saw his father, he would be like a mouse seeing a cat. Under normal circumstances, unless necessary, the two would never come into contact and would stay as far away as possible.
"Aren't you going to say anything to me? I told that brat to shut up, not to say anything," the uncle said, glaring at Luo Feng again.
"Uncle, tell me, what do you want me to do to satisfy you?" Luo Feng said bluntly. If his uncle's demands were too unreasonable, he would not budge. Even if it meant the two families had to fall out, there was nothing he could do about it.
"Get that guy named Tiger out of the way. You personally teach Shunzi his skills. Don't hold back. Teach him everything you know."
"Look at what you're saying. Shunzi is my brother, so of course I won't hold back. But right now, Shunzi hasn't even mastered the basics yet. Isn't it a bit too early to teach him these things?"
"Just leave me with one question: are you willing to teach him or not?" the uncle asked, staring at Luo Feng.
“Of course, he’s my brother,” Luo Feng replied without hesitation.
"At least you said something sensible, kid. Your uncle wasn't wrong about you after all." The uncle said, patting Luo Feng on the shoulder, looking very satisfied.
"Then let Brother Shunzi learn the basics from Hu Zi first?" Luo Feng asked tentatively.
"What are you saying? He's still your brother, why can't you just let him learn skills from you?" The uncle glared at Luo Feng, seemingly blaming him for not understanding his meaning.
"No, Uncle, have you ever heard of building a house without laying a foundation?"
“Of course I know that skills must be learned little by little, but can’t you teach him properly? As the old saying goes, one shouldn’t bother two masters for one thing. Since you’re going to teach him anyway, why not just teach him everything at once?” The uncle looked at him with an expression of confidence, believing that Luo Feng would definitely not refuse his request.
"No, Uncle, I'm really busy right now and don't have time to deal with these things. Even the shop is managed by Hu Zi!" Luo Feng emphasized again that he was too busy to handle this matter.
"What are you saying? How old are you? What's so great about being a young person?" The uncle was clearly not buying it, and he was determined to get his way.
"Uncle, what do you mean by that? I have a lot on my plate right now. Do you think I got my wealth from all of this? I earned it penny by penny." Luo Feng was clearly dissatisfied with his uncle's questioning.
That's true. The richer a person is, the less likely they are to be leisurely. Look at those big bosses who make a fortune every day; they're all busy as bees.
Of course, this state only applies to the early stages of your business. Once your company reaches a certain scale, you will have plenty of time to leisurely enjoy life.
Aren't all the business tycoons of later generations like that?
“Uncle, let me make this clear: Shunzi’s current skill level is not high enough to learn the craft from me. If he doesn’t master the basics, he will definitely suffer in the future.” Luo Feng said, ignoring his uncle’s reaction, glaring at him with an unyielding attitude.
"What I mean is to let Shunzi practice the basics with Huzi first. Once he's mastered them, I'll start teaching him the craft. If you're okay with that, then let Shunzi stay. Otherwise, I'll send you away. I can still afford two tickets back home."
Luo Feng left those words behind and went downstairs without looking back. Lunchtime had passed, but he needed to start preparing late-night snacks. There was still a lot to do at the shop, and he didn't have time to argue with this old man and young man. Anyway, they could come and go as they pleased; the door was right there, and he certainly wouldn't stop them. He might even happily see them off to their car.
