Rebirth of a Farmer's Dad

Chapter 67 Another storm arises

Luo Feng planned to spend a week on registration for the matchmaking event. After all, registration wasn't just a simple matter of signing up; there would be screening and sorting later on. This wasn't an easy task, and it would take a lot of time to complete.

Since registration for the matchmaking event began, Luo Feng had barely rested for three days straight, not even getting a full night's sleep. Naturally, he wasn't in a good mood. He even felt he had become much more irritable these past few days.

And so, Luo Feng got into trouble again because of a careless remark.

Here's what happened: On the third day after registration opened, a young couple who looked only seventeen or eighteen years old came to register. Luo Feng, of course, ignored these two kids. The registration rules clearly stated that applicants must be unmarried adults who had reached the legal marriage age. Judging by their age, they were probably only sixteen or seventeen; they weren't even of legal marriage age, let alone adults.

Perhaps because Luo Feng hadn't slept well these past two days, he repeatedly and clearly refused them, even casually saying, "What are you doing getting involved, you little brats? Go back to your studies and aren't you afraid your family will come after you?"

Luo Feng's words made the two people in front of him blush, and even the onlookers burst into laughter.

"Not bad, a young boy already knows he wants a wife. Does your father know about this?"

"You'd better hurry home. If your family finds out about this, they'll break your legs."

"Kids these days really don't know their place!"...

After hearing everyone's comments, the young man's face turned even redder. He wanted to pull the girl away, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. He took two steps away from the crowd, but perhaps feeling he couldn't lose face, he turned back.

Before Luo Feng could say anything, the young man started smashing things. Needless to say, the scene quickly spiraled out of control.

Luo Feng and his friends weren't afraid of a mere kid. Zhu Gan and his two companions quickly tackled him to the ground. Having worked non-stop for days, Zhu Gan and his friends were seething with anger; they weren't about to let someone cause trouble. They moved on to punch and kick him, clearly intending to use him as a punching bag.

"Alright, stop hitting him, let him go back." Seeing the young boy lying on the ground groaning after being beaten up by the three bamboo poles, Luo Feng couldn't bear it, perhaps considering his age.

"You lot better not run away, just you wait!" the kid said before running off.

"Where are you going? Wait for me!" a woman's voice shouted from behind him, and then she followed closely behind.

Luo Feng shook his head and sighed. Young people will be young, especially these seventeen or eighteen-year-old lads. They act entirely on impulse, never considering the consequences. Just like this kid today, when he gets angry, he doesn't even care about his girlfriend.

"Even if we really let them participate in the matchmaking event, it probably won't be a good thing," Luo Feng said softly.

The group then tidied up the messy scene, apologized to those around them, and said that the registration process could continue.

Luo Feng initially thought the young man's words were just empty talk. But to his surprise, he returned shortly after. This time, he wasn't alone; he was followed by seven or eight thugs with dragon and tiger tattoos. More importantly, each of them was carrying weapons like iron bars, and Luo Feng even saw a few carrying watermelon knives.

"Come out here, all of you! Don't just stand there like dead men. This needs an explanation!" The kid who had been beaten up earlier pointed a watermelon knife at Luo Feng and his group. Several thugs behind him also started shouting, making the scene even more chaotic.

"What kind of karma have I created? It's so difficult to get anything done," Luo Feng cried out in his heart.

Nobody was a fool. This time, the other side had come prepared, and they were outnumbered and outmatched. With no other option, Luo Feng and his companions had to flee for their lives. Luo Feng remembered hearing someone say: "Better to mess with an old rogue than a petty thug."

Looking back now, there's some truth to that statement. After all, seasoned thugs, having been around for a while, know what they should and shouldn't do, and when they act, they always leave some room for maneuver, not going too far. But young thugs are different, especially those just starting out. Kids in their rebellious teenage years are naturally fearless. They never consider the consequences of their actions, only seeking momentary pleasure and personal gratification.

Luo Feng swore that he had never run this fast, not even in his past life. He never imagined he had such great potential. To survive, Luo Feng and his companions sprinted forward as fast as they could, terrified of being overtaken by the group of kids behind them if they slowed down even a little. At their current speed, they could easily win a gold medal at the Olympics.

"No, no, let's stop." Bamboo Pole glanced behind him and, seeing that no one was chasing after him, stopped and stood catching his breath.

"Who exactly are those guys? They're all pretty ruthless," Da Zhuang said, panting.

"Who cares who he is, we absolutely can't let him get away with this," Shi Tou said. Da Zhuang nodded in agreement.

"You guys should just give up. We're busy right now, we don't have time to deal with them," Luo Feng said, giving them a disgruntled look.

"Brother Feng, if we just let this go like this, how are we supposed to get along in the county?"

"If we calculate it like that, we'll be laughed to death by everyone in the surrounding villages."

These past two days have been stressful at work, and with that incident just happening, Luo Feng was naturally in a bad mood. In a fit of rage, he kicked both Da Zhuang and Shi Tou.

"Are you all stupid? You can't even prioritize things. This matchmaking event is something we have to organize. No matter what happens, it can't be delayed. Otherwise, we'll be ruining our own reputation." Luo Feng explained to them with exasperation that the matchmaking event was the top priority at the moment, and everything else could wait.

"What should we do then?" Stone shouted at Luo Feng. It was clear he was also seething with anger.

"Go to the police station and look for them. That's their job," Luo Feng said with a sigh.

"So, we're just leaving it at that?" Shi Tou asked, staring into Luo Feng's eyes.

"If you're still not satisfied, you can settle the score with them when they're released. By then, we'll be free to deal with them however we want." Luo Feng's eyes darted around, preparing for a reckoning later.

Seeing the malicious smile on Luo Feng's face, the group immediately understood. They decided to finish their current tasks first, and deal with those kids later when they had some free time.

"You just wait and see, I'll get my hands free." At this moment, Luo Feng and the others all had the same thought in their minds.
