Rebirth of a Farmer's Dad
Chapter 34 Return
The next day, Luo Feng took his daughter on a bus to the county. He remained silent the entire way, seemingly lost in some kind of agonizing dilemma. He was probably worried about the shop.
Xinghua, not knowing what was wrong with her father, gently shook Luo Feng's leg. Startled by his daughter's movement, Luo Feng snapped out of his reverie and softly asked, "Xinghua, what's wrong?"
"Daddy, what are you doing online? I've called you several times, but you haven't answered me," Xinghua said angrily.
"Alright, alright, it's Father's fault. Father apologizes to you. Please forgive Father, okay?" Knowing he was in the wrong, Luo Feng could only apologize to his daughter.
"Yes, the teacher said it's good to realize your mistakes. I forgive Daddy." Xinghua patted her chest as she spoke, looking like a precocious child.
"You little rascal, I wonder who you take after?" Luo Feng patted the little girl's head and said with a smile.
"Don't pat my head, or I'll stunt my growth," Xinghua said with a displeased expression.
The little girl's nonsensical remark made Luo Feng burst into laughter.
The father and daughter then laughed and joked their way to Luo's Restaurant. When they arrived at the restaurant, it was already noon, so it was very crowded.
Without disturbing the guests, Luo Feng took Xinghua upstairs and brought up a few dishes from the kitchen. The father and daughter then enjoyed lunch upstairs.
After lunch, Luo Feng told Xinghua to take a nap.
Luo Feng didn't plan to send his daughter to kindergarten in the afternoon. Since they had already delayed for so many days, a little more wouldn't make a difference. The child had been traveling all morning and was a bit tired, so she needed to rest.
Perfect timing! I can talk to the teacher about it when I take my daughter to school tomorrow morning.
Children can sleep, but adults aren't so lucky. Luo Feng naturally doesn't have time for a nap; he's anxious to check on the shop's situation these past two days.
Fortunately, Tiger and his team were already very skilled at their jobs, and everything in the store was on track, so there were no major problems.
Luo Feng was secretly congratulating himself on his good judgment in choosing good men, which saved him a lot of effort. Unexpectedly, the second brother rushed in in a great hurry.
"What happened, Second Brother?" Luo Feng asked, looking puzzled.
"I'm doomed, Brother Feng, you have to help me," the second brother said nervously.
"No, what did you do wrong?" Luo Feng panicked.
"What are you talking about? What could I possibly have done wrong? I'm just an honest man." The second brother shook his head.
"Then why did you call me for help? What happened? Tell me quickly, I'm so worried." Luo Feng was clearly getting impatient.
"No, nothing happened. It's just that our grandfather wants to see you," the second son stammered.
"Oh, I see! You should have said so sooner! You scared me to death." Luo Feng said, patting his chest as if he had been frightened.
"No, what do we do now? Give me some advice!" the second brother said anxiously.
"Your dad is looking for me, not you, so why are you in such a hurry?" Luo Feng deliberately chuckled.
"Stop making fun of me, give me some advice! I'm so nervous and have absolutely no idea what to do." The second brother looked like he was about to cry.
"No, I mean, what are you so anxious about? It's just talking to your father, right? Just say whatever you want then." Luo Feng looked puzzled.
"Don't even mention it. I've been afraid of my dad since I was little, and I've never had a proper conversation with him," the second son said helplessly.
Hearing this, Luo Feng could only shake his head and give a wry smile. It seemed that his second son had also been terrified of his father since childhood.
"Let me ask you something, did your dad beat you when you were a kid?" Luo Feng asked this question as if he were possessed.
"Why wouldn't I get beaten? When I was little, my dad used to hang me up and whip me all the time, but as I grew up, it happened less and less," the second son replied.
"No, why are you asking these questions? Hurry up and help me think of a solution, I'm in a real crisis." The second brother suddenly realized that this was not the time for idle chatter, and said to Luo Feng with a worried look.
"Alright, alright, just keep quiet and do as I say." Seeing that he was really anxious, Luo Feng stopped teasing him.
"Are you really confident you can convince my dad?" the second son asked Luo Feng, somewhat skeptical.
"What? You don't trust me? Why don't you go yourself?" Luo Feng said, glancing at the second brother.
"No, no, no, let's go together. I'll be scared to see my dad alone," the second son hurriedly waved his hand.
"Hey, what's wrong with you?" Luo Feng said helplessly.
"Wait, you haven't told me the exact time we're meeting yet." Luo Feng suddenly realized that he didn't even know the meeting time.
"My dad said he's waiting for you at home tonight, so you can come with me," the second son said.
"Okay, then I need to go and get ready." Luo Feng said, waving his hand to let the second sister get to work. Meanwhile, she herself was thinking about what to buy for the county magistrate that evening.
After all, this was his first visit; the two were complete strangers and had no formal interaction before. Although he was visiting as a friend, bringing a gift was a thoughtful gesture.
After thinking it over, Luo Feng decided that bringing a fruit basket would suffice. Being too enthusiastic on a first meeting wouldn't be appropriate.
In the afternoon, Luo Feng was busy again. However, he was going to his second brother's house today, so he didn't worry about the late-night snack. Time flies when you're busy. It seemed like only yesterday that evening arrived.
Led by the second son, Luo Feng visited his home for the first time. It was a small courtyard, filled with flowers and plants. It was clear that these plants had been carefully tended. It seemed the county magistrate and his wife had quite a bit of leisure time!
Before he could have any more thoughts, Luo Feng followed Lao'er into the house.
They were greeted by a woman who appeared to be around 40 years old. She wore glasses, had long, flowing hair, and a slightly chubby face, exuding an intellectual beauty. Needless to say, this was the second son's mother.
"Hello, Auntie, I'm Xiaojun's friend, my name is Luo Feng." Luo Feng greeted her quickly without saying a word, and handed her a fruit basket.
"My son Xiaojun has mentioned you before. You just happened to come. What did you bring?" the second son's mother said.
"We should still observe some etiquette; wildflowers don't cost much," Luo Feng said with a smile.
"Alright, this is the last time. Let it go today. Please sit wherever you like, I'll go make you a pot of tea." With that, the second son's mother turned around to make tea.
Luo Feng wanted to say that there was no need to be so polite, but the other party obviously didn't give him the chance, so he had no choice but to give up.
"By the way, why haven't I seen Uncle?" Luo Feng couldn't help but ask as his second son's mother brought over the dish. He hadn't seen the county magistrate since he'd come in.
"Xiao Jun's father was just called away, so you'll have to wait a while." The second son's mother smiled, looking a little embarrassed.
"Since he hasn't come back yet, I'll go back to my room first." Before Luo Feng could speak, the second son said impatiently to his mother.
After saying that, he turned and went into his room without looking back.
"Oh, Xiao Jun has been spoiled by his family since he was little, please don't take it to heart," the second son's mother said to Luo Feng, blushing slightly as she spoke.
"It's alright, I've known Xiaojun for quite a while now, and he's just being genuine!" To ease the awkward atmosphere, Luo Feng couldn't help but laugh it off.
The two then chatted casually in the living room. Most of the time, it was the second son's mother asking about her son's performance at the store, while Luo Feng only passively answered.
The two had never met before, their only connection being their son, but this topic wasn't suitable to continue discussing. Therefore, Luo Feng silently thought to himself, "County Magistrate, how much longer until you arrive? You're not going to make me wait here all night, are you?"
