After swapping bodies, I became a domineering CEO in a melodramatic novel.
Chapter 272 So you're not appreciating it?
Han Shuang sighed, "You child, are you that worried about him?" She gave Yu Yuetong a meaningful look, "Go ahead, be careful on the road."
Yu Yuetong didn't bother to explain; she grabbed her bag and rushed out. Now inside Qin Reng's body, she knew the company's situation all too well. Qin Yu was cunning and treacherous; he would never let go of any opportunity to strike at Qin Reng.
The car sped along the road, Yu Yuetong's hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. The image of Qin Reng's departing figure kept flashing through her mind; that usually tall and imposing figure now appeared so frail.
Suddenly, the phone rang. It was Qin Reng's assistant calling.
"Mr. Qin, something terrible has happened!" The assistant's voice was filled with panic. "Qin Yu, along with several shareholders, says they want to conduct a comprehensive review of the previous projects. They... they say someone reported that Madam tampered with the projects!"
Yu Yuetong's heart sank. Was this Qin Yu's plan? To use the opportunity of her and Qin Reng switching bodies to frame her?
“Madam isn’t feeling well right now,” the assistant continued in a low voice. “She seems… seems to be frightened by the questions from several shareholders.”
Yu Yuetong slammed on the gas. She knew Qin Reng too well; although that man was usually cold and hard, he possessed an arrogance that rivaled anyone else's. Now, trapped in her frail body, facing the relentless pressure from those old foxes, he must be on the verge of collapse, right?
“Tell him,” Yu Yuetong said through gritted teeth, “to let him hold on a little longer.”
She jerked the steering wheel, and the car turned onto a side road. This was a shortcut she had discovered earlier, which would get her to the company faster.
Qin Yu, you better pray I arrive in time. Otherwise, I'll show you what true ruthlessness is.
Yu Yuetong sped all the way and finally arrived at the Qin's Building. She practically rushed into the elevator, watching the numbers jump up and down, her heart pounding faster and faster.
The meeting room door was tightly closed, but the sounds of a heated argument could be faintly heard coming from inside. Yu Yuetong took a deep breath and pushed the door open.
What came into view was a suffocating scene: Qin Reng—now in her body—was surrounded by several directors who were over fifty years old. Her delicate face had lost all color, and her slender fingers were tightly gripping the documents, her knuckles white.
Qin Yu leaned against the conference table, a confident smile on his face: "Madam, can you explain clearly where the funds for these projects go?"
"I told you, these are all normal expenses," Qin Reng said through gritted teeth, her voice weak and feeble due to her female vocal cords.
“Normal expenses?” A white-haired director sneered. “Is transferring company money into a personal account considered normal expenses?”
Upon hearing this, Yu Yuetong's lips curled into a cold smile. She strode into the conference room, the sound of her high heels clicking crisply on the floor.
"Gentlemen, why didn't you invite me to join the fun?"
All eyes turned to her—or rather, to Qin Reng's body. Qin Yu's smile froze on his face: "Cousin, what brings you here?"
Yu Yuetong walked to Qin Reng's side and gently patted his shoulder. His frail body trembled slightly, clearly having reached his limit.
“I said, Qin Yu,” Yu Yuetong spoke in Qin Reng’s usual cold and hard tone, “Are you sure you want to play this game?”
She took the document from Qin Reng and flipped through it casually. "Private account? You mean this?" She pointed to a page. "Interesting, but haven't you forgotten something?"
Yu Yuetong turned and walked towards the projector, her slender fingers rapidly typing on the keyboard. Soon, a document was projected onto the screen.
"This is a board resolution from three months ago, a proposal to establish offshore accounts in Southeast Asia. It passed unanimously at the time." She looked at Qin Yu meaningfully. "What, have you forgotten your signature so quickly?"
There was dead silence in the conference room.
"As for the flow of funds," Yu Yuetong continued, "every project my wife is in charge of has a complete record of fund tracking. Qin Yu, if you really care about the company, why don't you explain that unfinished resort project you're handling first?"
Qin Yu's face instantly turned ashen.
Yu Yuetong turned to the board members: "Gentlemen, if you have any questions about the accounts, I welcome an audit at any time. But before that," her voice suddenly turned cold, "you'd better think carefully about the cost of choosing the wrong side."
The board members exchanged glances and quietly took a few steps back.
"The meeting is adjourned," Yu Yuetong announced.
After everyone left, Qin Reng finally collapsed into a chair, unable to hold on any longer. Yu Yuetong looked at his pale face and felt a pang of pain in her heart.
"I'm sorry," Qin Reng said softly, "I almost... I almost..."
“It’s alright,” Yu Yuetong comforted softly. “I’m here.”
She looked at the sunlight outside the window, her eyes sharpening. "Qin Yu, I've noted this debt."
Qin Reng looked up at Yu Yuetong's back as she stood in the sunlight, speechless for a moment. That tall, upright figure, a body he knew all too well, now exuded an aura he had never seen in the mirror before.
"Those data you just mentioned..." Qin Reng hesitated for a moment, "When did you memorize them?"
Yu Yuetong turned around, a smug smile playing on her lips: "What, surprised?" She walked up to Qin Reng, rested one hand on the table, and leaned closer, "I've been secretly studying every night."
Qin Reng instinctively shrank back, watching his own face loom larger before him, a strange feeling welling up inside him. He turned his face away, muttering softly, "Who told you to meddle in other people's business..."
"Tsk, you're not grateful for this?" Yu Yuetong reached out and pinched Qin Reng's chin, forcing him to turn his face. "If I hadn't arrived in time, you would have been devoured alive by them today."
Qin Reng shook off her hand, furious and embarrassed: "It's all because of this damn body! If I were still inside my own body..."
"If you were still inside your own body, you probably would have already started hitting people, right?" Yu Yuetong sneered. "Do you think Qin Yu doesn't know your temper? He's just waiting for you to lose control."
Qin Reng was taken aback, then his expression suddenly dawned on him.
“So,” Yu Yuetong straightened up and looked down at him, “you’d better behave yourself and not cause any more trouble until we switch back.”
"You!" Qin Reng suddenly stood up, but stumbled because he wasn't used to high heels. Yu Yuetong quickly caught him, and their bodies pressed together instantly.
The air suddenly became thick. Qin Reng could clearly feel the temperature of his own body, and that familiar yet strange sensation made him stiffen.
