A passing traveler through the heavens
Chapter 74 Police Story 3
After seeing Captain Shi and Yang Jianhua off, Ji Lin's gaze fell on Aji, who was standing to the side, and he asked softly.
"How's things going with Lian Sheng lately? Have you encountered any tricky situations?"
Ah-Ji smiled slightly and replied in a relaxed tone, "It's nothing serious, Brother Lin. The gang is gradually getting back on track, but..." Ah-Ji paused for a moment, and the smile on his face faded a bit.
Seeing this, Ji Lin frowned slightly and asked, "But what?"
Ah-Jie took a deep breath and continued, "Although I have eliminated all the gambling, prostitution, and drug businesses, those guys who used to work with Wo Luen Shing are not willing to let go of this lucrative business."
“They have recently colluded with other triads in an attempt to seize some of the Wo Luen Shing’s territory.”
Ji Lin's eyes turned cold, and he asked in a deep voice, "Have you found out exactly who these people are?"
Ah-Ji nodded and replied, "After some investigation, we've discovered that besides Wang Bao from that number gang who's eyeing our territory, there's also a drug dealer who used to work with Wo Luen Shing."
"This guy's nickname is 'The Dealer,' and his real name is Lin Kun. His drug trafficking methods are extremely cunning and sophisticated, to the point that I tried everything but couldn't find out what he really looks like."
Ji Lin picked up the teacup on the table, took a sip of hot tea, and muttered to himself, "Wang Bao and Lin Kun, they're quite interesting..."
Not long after Captain Shi and Section Chief Yang left, they stood in a corner not far from Ji Lin's villa, talking in hushed tones.
Captain Shi flicked his cigarette ash, took a deep drag, and asked, "Section Chief Yang, what's your opinion on this Ji Lin?"
Section Chief Yang frowned slightly, pondered for a moment, and then replied, "In my opinion, he is quite different from the Hong Kong police officers I have encountered before."
"Moreover, judging from our conversation with him just now, this person shares some of our beliefs."
Captain Shi nodded in agreement: "Yes, your thoughts are exactly the same as mine! So I think we should report the situation about him to our superiors as soon as possible." Yang Jianhua completely agreed.
Meanwhile, in Ji Lin's office at O-Division, Chen Jiaju was standing ramrod straight.
Ji Lin looked at Chen Jiaju with a serious expression and slowly began to speak.
"Ka-Kui, I have an extremely dangerous task for you to complete. Of course, if you think the risk is too great and you are unwilling to take on this task, that's perfectly fine too."
Upon hearing this, Chen Jiaju smiled confidently and replied without hesitation, "Brother Lin, just say what you want to say. I've always enjoyed the danger!"
Hearing Chen Jiaju's words, Ji Lin nodded in satisfaction and praised with a smile, "Haha, good lad! I knew you hadn't misjudged me."
After saying that, Ji Lin reached out and picked up a thick document from the desk, solemnly handed it to Chen Jiaju, and gave him instructions.
"This document contains detailed information about this mission. I require you to memorize all of this information within two days, without any errors. Understand?"
Chen Jiaju took the documents with both hands, gave a standard police salute, and loudly replied, "Yes, Sir! Mission accomplished!"
Two days later, Ji Lin personally drove Chen Jiaju to the place where Section Chief Yang and his group were staying on Hong Kong Island.
The car came to a smooth stop in front of what looked like an ordinary residential building.
Ji Lin got out of the car first and led Chen Jiaju into the somewhat old building. When they stepped into the room, Section Chief Yang, who was busy at work, immediately put down the documents in his hand and got up to greet the two.
"Section Chief Yang, this is Chen Jiaju, our most valiant police officer from the O-Division!" Ji Lin introduced enthusiastically.
Yang Jianhua looked Chen Jiaju up and down, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes.
Since meeting Ji Lin at his luxurious villa that day, Yang Jianhua and his team have been working tirelessly to relay all information about Ji Lin back to their superiors.
Not only that, they also did their best to collect information on the people around Ji Lin, the situation of his subordinates, and the information about his female friends.
Its sole purpose is to gain a comprehensive and in-depth understanding and analysis of Ji Lin.
After a few brief pleasantries, Yang Jianhua began to carefully instruct Chen Jiaju on the precautions and key points of this mission, while Ji Lin, standing to the side, listened quietly, occasionally interjecting a word or two to add explanations.
After explaining everything, Ji Lin patted Chen Jiaju on the shoulder, expressing his encouragement and trust.
He then turned and left, but Ji Lin did not return directly to the police station. Instead, he drove to the police academy in Wong Chuk Hang.
Upon arriving at the police academy, Ji Lin first strolled around the campus, keenly observing the students coming and going.
He had three important purposes for this trip: first, he hoped to discover some promising talents here; second, whether it was Wang Bao or Lin Kun, if he could plant an undercover agent among them, it might be easy to wipe them out; and third, he wanted to see if he could run into some familiar characters from the storyline.
As soon as Ji Lin entered the campus, he went straight to the principal's office. After gently knocking on the door, a calm voice came from inside: "Come in."
Ji Lin entered the room, greeted the principal with a smile, and briefly explained his purpose.
The principal warmly received him and expressed his full support for Ji Lin's requests. Before long, a detailed list of students was presented to Ji Lin.
He took a closer look, and the list was utterly astonishing! It was filled with impressive names: Ma Jun, Hua Sheng, Chen Yongren, Ali... a veritable all-star lineup.
Ji Lin was secretly amazed, and even had the urge to bring them all under his command, but he quickly realized that this was just wishful thinking, since the principal would not easily let go of so many outstanding talents.
After careful consideration, Ji Lin finally named Ma Jun and Ali.
These two are the main characters in Wang Bao and Lin Kun's storyline, and they are definitely the best candidates to complete this mission. If they were to take on the bosses in their respective storylines, it would be much easier and more efficient.
After receiving the principal's approval, Ji Lin sat quietly in the principal's office waiting for Ma Jun and Ali to arrive.
Time ticked by, and finally, a soft footstep sounded outside the door. Then, the door opened, and two tall, imposing figures walked in.
Ji Lin looked up and saw that Ma Jun had a resolute face and sharp eyes; while Ali appeared calm and reserved, with no hidden talents.
Ji Lin smiled slightly, skipped the so-called ability test, directly announced his name, and bluntly told them that there was an important task for them to carry out.
Ma Jun and Ali exchanged a glance, understanding each other perfectly.
They were well aware that an officer's sudden visit to the police academy to select personnel was most likely for undercover work. After a brief moment of thought, they nodded, indicating their willingness to accept this arduous task.
After Ji Lin organized and properly stored their files, he found the principal and asked him to find any reason to expel the two people from the police academy.
Afterwards, Ji Lin sat leisurely in his car parked at the school gate, patiently waiting for them to appear.
Not long after, the two men, looking as dejected as wilted eggplants, slowly walked out of the police academy gate.
Seeing this, Ji Lin smiled slightly and comforted him, "Hey! Don't look so gloomy! As long as you successfully complete this mission, I guarantee that everyone will be promoted to inspector!"
The two, who had been looking dejected, suddenly brightened up and their faces lit up with joy after hearing Ji Lin's impassioned promise.
Indeed, one of the most crucial skills for a qualified leader is to be good at painting a rosy picture of the future for their subordinates—the so-called "pie in the sky."
Following that, Ji Lin explained the specific arrangements for the mission to the two of them in detail.
He instructed Ma Jun to infiltrate Wang Bao's territory as an undercover agent; at the same time, he ordered Ali to do everything possible to infiltrate the massive drug trafficking group controlled by Lin Kun.
After giving his instructions, Ji Lin casually drove to two different intersections and dropped Ma Jun and Ali off at their respective locations.
As the two were about to get out of the car, Ji Lin took out two thick stacks of banknotes from his pocket and handed each of them 50,000 yuan in cash as initial funds needed for the mission.
Finally, he earnestly advised the two that if they encountered any emergencies or needed support or assistance, they should contact him immediately…
