Magical Journey: The Other Shore Blooms on the Other Shore
Chapter 70 Elena and the Haunted House
"Miss, would you be interested in experiencing our haunted house rides?" As Elena was looking around on the street, a man in a suit stopped her.
Haunted house?
Is it one of those scary little houses for fun? — Who does this thing even scare? I really don't know if people who like to ride these kinds of amusement park rides are just too bored.
"If you walk through our haunted house without screaming at all, we can give you a voucher for the bakery we partner with." The staff member seemed to notice Elena's hesitation, and his professionalism made him immediately understand what he should say.
(I know you're wondering why a bakery would collaborate with a haunted house. Well, it's a local specialty, don't take it too seriously.)
What a coincidence! I'm currently very free and really want to eat bread.
cough cough.
"As long as you don't scream, it'll be fine, right?" Elena smiled.
"Yes, but since you are a witch, we require that you not cast a silence spell on yourself beforehand, and you cannot use any magic after entering, otherwise we will consider you to be cheating. Just get through our haunted house without screaming at all," the staff member patiently explained.
Oh dear—your little scheme was seen through.
But I'm a witch, why would I be afraid of ghosts? Ghosts are afraid of me, that's what's going on—hmm.
"You and your male friend can participate together, but he also can't scream, otherwise it will be considered a failure," the staff member continued.
His exceptional professionalism led him to refer to Qin as a male friend, not a boyfriend; the former is always appropriate, while the latter can cause trouble in some situations.
Don't ask how I know.
Asking questions is a form of experience.
"Together?" Elena asked tentatively.
"How childish," Qin said. "Are you a three-year-old?"
That's a very harsh way to put it.
I just want a bread voucher.
Qin knew exactly what Elena was thinking: "I'll keep you company while you're bored for a while."
Cut—sharp tongue but soft heart.
Seeing that Elena and Qin had agreed, the staff breathed a sigh of relief: "Please come with me, ladies. I guarantee you will have an unforgettable experience."
Then, guided by the staff, they arrived at a small castle.
"Welcome to Screaming Castle."
As if responding to the staff's instructions, the gate of the small castle slowly opened, like a monster slowly opening its mouth. Inside, it was pitch black and empty, and you couldn't see anything inside at all.
Is this a haunted house?
Anyway, it's all props and real people inside, there aren't any real ghosts, so what's there to be afraid of? Besides, I've even encountered real ghosts before.
Elena cheered herself up and took a big step forward. Speaking of which... where's Qin? Is he too scared to go in? Elena looked around and found that Qin had already arrived at the castle gate.
"Hey—wait for me—" Elena hurried inside.
Once the two had fully entered the castle, the gate behind them slowly closed, instantly swallowing up all the light and plunging the surroundings into darkness.
Because she was forbidden from using magic, Elena could not use lighting magic to brighten her surroundings.
But now it's pitch black. Here, let alone not recognizing family members, people have long since lost the ability to distinguish between humans and animals.
Which way should I go?
Are you walking blindly?
Just as Elena was wondering, a faint, eerie green flame suddenly ignited in some places in the sky, and these flames turned the original indistinguishable human from animal to the point of being completely unrecognizable.
This can be described as an epic upgrade.
At least, I can see the road now.
Seriously, what if someone falls over such a dim light?
"Qin, go first and lead the way," Elena said.
"What, you seem scared?" Qin replied.
"Huh? Are you kidding me? How could I be afraid? I only chose to cover your retreat for the safety of you, you reckless guy. Look how considerate I am, and you think I'm afraid? I am the Gray Witch, Elaina, do you understand? What do I have to be afraid of?"
You speak so fast.
"Never mind that, hurry up and lead the way."
At Elena's insistence, Qin had no choice but to walk ahead.
In Elena's field of vision, the surrounding visibility was extremely low, and sometimes she would easily slip and fall if she wasn't careful. If she were allowed to use reconnaissance magic, things would be different, but unfortunately, for the sake of bread, this right had been banned by the organizers.
Therefore, she could only follow closely behind Qin.
But in Qin's view, walking in this place is not much different from strolling down the street.
His eyes were certainly different; they had a clear view of the entire castle's interior, without a trace of magic. The organizers would never have imagined there was such a wall hanging.
"Wow—" A person dressed as a zombie suddenly popped up from the ground. He got close to Qin's face, attempting to intimidate him in the most primal way.
Anyone caught off guard would instinctively yell and reflexively punch him, causing him to have many nosebleeds. But now he takes good precautions and has already bought life insurance.
But for Qin, this was not at all unexpected.
Can you imagine the feeling of someone who was squatting on the toilet suddenly standing up and yelling at you? Your first thought would be that they forgot their toilet paper and are asking to borrow some.
Qin, holding the chin of the man who was trying to frighten her, said, "Brother, remember to brush your teeth, you have bad breath."
"Waaaaah—" I've had countless nosebleeds and suffered a lot of physical damage, but this is the first time I've experienced such shameless mental abuse.
The zombie fled in a panic.
Before Elena could react...
Wow, that scream made my heart race a little. Not scared, just excited! Give me more, otherwise I can't truly showcase this witch's abilities.
After Zombie Bro was defeated, Ghost Sister made her move.
In the distance, a projection suddenly appeared, revealing a female ghost bleeding from all seven orifices who slowly emerged and then vanished. Instantly, Qin felt as if something was strangling her.
There was clearly nothing in front of me.
But just looking at this, it feels like being strangled by a female ghost.
It's probably some kind of tactile magic, like condensing the air in front of you into a hand shape and then strangling yourself.
Being suddenly strangled in the dark is terrifying. You might subconsciously feel like there are ghosts around and start attacking the person strangling you.
When you can't hit someone no matter how you attack, and the feeling of being strangled persists, fear naturally arises.
Perfect plan.
But I met someone who wasn't perfect.
Qin walked on as if nothing had happened. Seeing that Qin was unmoved, the female ghost rushed out from the shadows and threatened Qin.
But in Qin's eyes, the actress with heavy makeup who looked like a ghost swayed out and suddenly opened her mouth and screamed at her as if she had been drinking fake alcohol. It wasn't scary, but it was quite embarrassing.
"Need me to recommend toothpaste? You can team up with that zombie guy to buy some."
Waaaaah—what a failure! He actually broke my defenses first. The female ghost was severely wounded and defeated.
Subsequently, all sorts of demons and monsters ascended the curtain, attempting to meet this mysterious being.
"Brother, um, your mask isn't on properly, let me help you put it on. Yes, that should do it."
"Ma'am, you dropped your glasses. Oh, they're not yours, are they yours, auntie?"
"What do you mean I'm so calm? Shouldn't you know the answer to this better?"
A major failure!
When Qin came out of the haunted house, there were quite a few screams, but they were all from the staff.
Elena was carried along like that.
Wow—that makes me feel so safe. But right now, that doesn't matter.
Hehe, my bread.
"Miss Witch, as agreed, I will give you a voucher." The staff member said sheepishly, his gaze towards Qin filled with fear.
"Mmm." Elena happily prepared to accept her lunch voucher.
"But could you please settle the payment for the haunted house first?" the staff member said.
"Huh?" Elena froze.
"I don't think I ever mentioned it was a free trial, did I, Miss Witch?" the staff member said with a smile.
Elena swore that her experience in the haunted house wasn't as terrifying as that one sentence. That big liar…
