Magical Journey: The Other Shore Blooms on the Other Shore
Chapter 61 Before the Snow Melts (Part 2)
Many years ago, a very tragic fall occurred on a cliff near the kingdom.
The sisters, Ailige and her sister, waited anxiously in a mountain cabin for their parents to return from hunting, only to find their parents' bodies. The officials told them that their parents had accidentally fallen off a cliff while hunting, and their bodies were eventually retrieved by a passing merchant.
In an effort to provide humanitarian assistance, local officials brought Elijah and her sister Milina to live within the kingdom. They provided the sisters with basic living necessities and a house free of charge.
Everything was wonderful.
It should be so.
But one night, some merchants who coveted the animal horns set their sights on the horns on the foreheads of the sisters, Elige and Milina, and thus launched an invasion.
On the night of that fierce battle.
The once happy house was turned into a mess, and Milina was stabbed countless times by the daggers of those vicious merchants while trying to protect her sister from harm.
Since then, Alice has been constantly subjected to malice from those around her.
She hated this kingdom—she hated hypocrisy, she hated life, she hated existence.
If it weren't for the fact that her younger sister needed her care, she would have died long ago, since there was no point in living anyway.
Today, she finally left the kingdom that had hurt her, carrying her younger sister on her back.
She returned to the small house where she had lived with her parents and sister when she was a child. Although most of the household items in the house were broken and dilapidated, they were still usable. From now on, she and her sister would live in this carefree place.
"Do you prefer a bow and arrow or a sword?" Qin asked. "Next, I'll teach you how to hunt."
"Bow and arrow, my father was a master archer."
"Okay," Qin said, "Wait for me a moment."
Before long, a very crude bow was finished, made from just some collected branches.
Then, he used his sword to kill a hibernating bear that he had just brought home and extracted its tendons to use as rope.
"I want to switch to swordsmanship, is that okay?" Alice had just witnessed how Qin killed a bear and brought it back.
"As you wish." Qin tossed the bow and arrows aside, then tossed over a polished wooden sword. "You're not in good health, so I'll teach you more practical swordsmanship."
(The hibernating bear: Arminus!)
"master."
"No need for that address. Watch my movements carefully."
Ordinary children shouldn't practice swordsmanship, especially those with developmental delays, but Elise is an orc, naturally much stronger than ordinary people, so it's okay for her to master some sword techniques.
If you really don't have the talent, it's not too late to switch to archery.
Ultimately, the goal is to ensure she can survive here alone. In this resource-rich mountain area, a good life is within reach for anyone with the ability.
……
"Miss Elena, a few days ago, officials from this kingdom sent you a letter." A specialist from the Magic Integration Association rushed over and handed a letter to Elena, who had just stepped out of the research lab.
After weeks of intense struggle, Elena finally couldn't take it anymore and decided to go for a walk.
After all, their research had run dry, and the entire magic project had hit a bottleneck. Continuing to push through it wouldn't yield any progress anytime soon. Perhaps getting some fresh air would spark some inspiration.
Moreover, she was a little worried about Qin.
After all, that guy is a real handful. Even with the broom watching over him, it seems he'll only pay lip service.
Inside the research lab, unless specifically authorized, there were rules against disturbing the people inside unless it was for an urgent matter. Therefore, Elena didn't see the letter until she emerged from quarantine.
This regulation is, of course, for safety reasons. Many magical experiments require extreme concentration, and being distracted by external factors could lead to disaster.
Although the local officials explained the details of the commission to Qin, they still felt Qin was unreliable, so they sent a letter to Elena. Elena is only seeing it now.
The letter recounted the kingdom's request and the truth of the whole affair.
Many years ago, a caravan of merchants from out of town selling animal horns spotted a pair of orc couple out hunting. They immediately coveted the beautiful horns and began their hunt against them.
After a fierce battle between the two sides.
Because it was too dark and the terrain in the deep mountains was very complex, the group did not pay attention to the path they were on and then lost their footing and tumbled down the cliff to the bottom.
Some of the merchants who stayed behind to hunt later discovered the bodies of their companions and the orc couple, and brought them back to the local kingdom's government office to explain the situation.
Of course, they concealed their wicked desire for the beast's horn.
But now the beast horns have become mixed with blood corpses and can't be sold. So they simply handed them over to the local officials, and at least they could get some insurance money for their companion's death.
Later, local officials brought in the two daughters of the deceased orcs and settled them within the territory.
The officials at the time were unaware that the very merchants were responsible for the children's tragic fate. Their actions inadvertently fueled the merchants' greed.
One night, they attacked Alice's residence.
When local officials arrived.
What you see is Milina, lying lifeless in a pool of blood after protecting her sister.
And there was Alice, who was holding her younger sister tightly and not saying a word. The surrounding merchants had all been subdued by the officials. However, after that, Alice seemed to have become a different person.
No matter what good intentions others showed, she would fiercely resist—all she heard was the malice of others.
She would use insects to buy things, but would slap away the gold coins that others kindly gave her, mistaking them for something terrifying (insects).
And she always seemed to believe that her sister Milina was still alive.
In short, she suffered severe psychological trauma. Because of her existence, although the inhabitants of the kingdom sympathized with the little girl, her unusual and strange behavior had disrupted the normal lives of the locals.
It's hard for anyone to accept that a girl used bedbugs as currency to pay.
It's also hard for anyone to tolerate her occasional hysterical screams.
Therefore, local officials pleaded with the witch to intervene and properly expel her from the country.
In fact, the local kingdom had asked the Magic Integration Association to handle the matter, but none of the members of the Magic Integration Association were willing to play the villain. So, the local officials sought Elena's help on a whim.
Elena calmly finished reading the letter.
Then he burned the letter.
A different kind of emotion flickered in his eyes.
She strode back to the hotel she had booked, only to find the room empty.
Where's the zither?
She then looked at the note Qin had left on the table.
"Find me at the back of the kingdom, be quiet—Qin."
Although he has an awkward personality, he is sometimes kinder than I am. According to him, it's just to prove that he still has value in living.
Elena sighed and shook her head, put away the note, summoned a broom, and headed towards the back mountain of the kingdom.
