After the Wallfacer hearing, Lin Xuan followed the tracking device she had left on Cheng Xin and found the location of PIA.

PIA, or Planetary Defense Council Strategic Intelligence Agency, is a subordinate department of PDC.

This department is still under the leadership of Thomas Wade, whose main responsibility is to collect intelligence on the Trisolarans.

"It should be right here."

Looking at the information provided by the positioning device, Lin Xuan easily bypassed several guards and swaggered into the intelligence bureau's interior.

Upon entering the intelligence bureau, Lin Xuan sensed the busyness of the people around her. Some PIA agents were even too busy to eat, carrying a Mexican chicken wrap and eating as they walked.

According to the information from the positioning device, Cheng Xin should still be inside the PIA building, but Lin Xuan is not here to see her this time; he wants to see Wade.

"Let me guess, you're not here to see Cheng Xin, are you?"

As Lin Xuan was strolling around the PIA building, a man's voice came from behind him.

A smile appeared on Lin Xuan's face as he turned to look at the man standing behind him.

He was a man who sent chills down Lin Xuan's spine with just one glance.

With his typical British features but an American name, Thomas Wade, a former CIA member, always gives off an inexplicable sense of unease.

Lin Xuan attributed her discomfort to his "interrogating a criminal" gaze.

"I've thought of many ways to find you quickly, but in the end I still think this method is the most effective. Clever hunters often appear as prey. Rather than me looking for you, I'd rather you come to me."

Lin Xuan smiled kindly. This was his first meeting with Wade, but he already understood why the Trisolarans called this guy a devil.

"Well, I'm quite relieved. At least your infiltration was successful. If my guards had discovered your infiltration, they would likely have shot you dead. I can't bear the responsibility if a Wallfacer died so easily in the PIA building."

As he spoke, Wade pointed to the elevator next to him.

"It looks like you've come to see me. Why don't you come to my office and we can talk?"

"Right on my mind."

Lin Xuan followed Weide up the elevator to an office hidden in a corner on the 5th floor of the building.

Upon entering Wade's office, Lin Xuan was startled by the mountain of documents piled on his desk.

"It's nothing, just some information left over from the Guzheng Project that I haven't had time to categorize yet."

Wade sat expressionlessly at his desk, then took two water glasses from the transparent cabinet behind him.

Tea or coffee?

"A coffee shop is fine with me."

Wade nodded slightly and poured a glass of Americano for both Lin Xuan and himself.

“I originally thought you would come to me six months in advance. When you installed the tracking system on Cheng Xin, I was watching all of this happen from the window.”

A mocking smile appeared on Wade's face. The implication of his words was that everything you did happened under my watchful eye.

"I'm sorry, as an intelligence officer, I shouldn't have revealed so much information to you. It was my dereliction of duty, but I have indeed been looking forward to your arrival for a long time."

Lin Xuan nodded slightly.

"I can see that you even prepared tea for me, but you may have misunderstood. Not all Chinese people like to drink tea."

Upon hearing this, Wade shook his head slightly.

"You mean this? You've really misunderstood me. There's a Chinese deputy director in PIA. He gave me this tea, but I don't really like it, so I've kept it until now."

"Alright, enough with the pleasantries. I've come to see you today for other matters."

Lin Xuan interrupted Wade's incessant chatter, took out a design drawing from her backpack, and tossed it onto the table.

"Do you know what this is?"

Wade glanced at it and quickly gave his answer.

"Where did you get a design model for a radiation thruster?"

"That's not important, but you have to do me a favor."

A strange smile appeared on Lin Xuan's face.

"I want this thing. It should be on PDC Chairwoman Ryoko Kamisato's desk in a few days. But you'll have to figure out who gave it to you."

Upon hearing this, Wade was taken aback.

Shock value from Vader +5.

He didn't ask Lin Xuan why she did this, because such a question was superfluous. If Lin Xuan really wanted him to know, she would have told him directly. Since she wouldn't tell him, he was too lazy to ask.

"What's the benefit?"

Lin Xuan laughed. Wade was truly the first person to dare ask a Wallfacer for benefits.

He didn't rush to state his conditions, but instead met Wade's gaze.

"what do you want?"

Lin Xuan was very curious about what someone like Wade would want.

In the original work, Wade's only pleasure seems to be torturing Cheng Xin, making her make mistakes again and again, and watching her expression go from hope to despair.

Weld slowly extended three fingers.

"I'm not sure how to answer your question because I have no idea what you can give me. So I'll just mention three things, and you can decide what to give."

"First, I am an intelligence officer, and intercepting intelligence about the Trisolaran world is extremely important to me."

"Second, as you know, I am a Machiavellian, but not everyone will support some of my practices. If you're willing, as a Wallfacer, help me once in a critical moment."

"Third, I heard you have a medicine that can extend people's lifespan. Give me one, so I can save more time to do what I need to do."

Wade gave Lin Xuan three options, and Lin Xuan immediately ruled out the second one.

Knowing Wade as he did, he knew that if he actually agreed, the guy might cause some trouble.

As for the remaining two options, Lin Xuan felt that the former was more reliable. After all, if Wade lived too long, there would be too many things he could do, and she would have to keep an eye on him all the time, so she didn't dare to hibernate.

"Here's some information for you; it might be helpful for your future career path."

Lin Xuan was deep in thought. Wade thought she was organizing useful information in her mind, but in reality, Lin Xuan was considering what kind of information to give Wade.

Because she knew so much, Lin Xuan was afraid that Wade would deduce something extraordinary based on what she said, so the information he gave had to follow two conditions.

First, even if Wade knows, it shouldn't affect him. Second, it should ideally be something that happens soon, so that Wade can only verify the authenticity of the information provided by Lin Xuan, but cannot make any changes.

"There is."

Lin Xuan suddenly thought of something.

"Zhizi is busy with other things lately, so the blockade on certain technologies may be tactically reduced. You can send someone to investigate, and if you find any clues, please send me a report."
