Return to before death

Chapter 29: The Timeline Changed Again

Sheng Xuanhao glared at Yan Ran with eyes blazing with fury, as if he wanted to devour her. However, a nurse was approaching, and he couldn't let his father know he had been there. So he coldly said, "I'll come again tomorrow. You'd better watch yourself," and left.

The nurse rushed over and found the woman pale and barely breathing. She was about to call the doctor when the woman stopped her.

"No, it's no use now." Her eyes were now calm, and her right hand, which had emerged from under the blanket, had a deep cut on her wrist, from which blood flowed slowly.

Large, bright red stains on the white bed.

Yan Ran finally understood the reason for her strange calm attitude and pale face.

When she arrived, the woman had already attempted suicide by cutting her wrists. Yan Ran had no way to save her unless she immediately called for a doctor... but she didn't know that, so the woman was destined to die.

Five minutes were up, and Yan Ran disappeared.

……

"You bastard!"

Almost the instant Yan Ran felt the solid ground beneath her feet, she grabbed Sheng Xuanling by the collar and roared.

The woman's dying expression was still deeply etched in her mind.

She clearly has the ability to save women! She can!

If Sheng Xuanling had simply told her that the woman had committed suicide, or to be more specific, that she could have saved her life if she had just called a doctor as soon as she arrived there.

But what did Sheng Xuanling do?

That woman died for him, but he just made up a seemingly tragic love story to deceive himself. His real purpose was simply to get the address the woman gave Yan Ran.

The disc that Sheng Xuanhao came to question was probably located around that spot.

He didn't care at all whether the woman could survive.

What a cold-blooded, selfish bastard!

Yan Ran was filled with anger, but Sheng Xuanling, who was looking at her, only had icy coldness in his eyes.

"Aren't you going to check the consequences of this timeline first?" he said indifferently, as if he hadn't done anything.

Yan Ran angrily threw his collar off.

As with every time before, she suddenly felt dizzy, as the timeline was gradually covered up, slowly revealing the terrifying fangs of reality.

The woman still died.

Needless to say.

However, Tangtang's time of death was shifted from 4 pm on June 15th to 4:30 am on the 17th.

How could this be? What happened?

Yan Ran's attention was already focused on her daughter, but Sheng Xuanling suddenly asked, "Where's the CD?"

"You!" Her anger was reignited.

The man glanced at her casually.

"That woman did such a thing for you... Don't you feel even a little bit guilty? She's dead, and all you care about is where the CD is. Do you even have a heart?!" Yan Ran roared.

"No."

“Even if I said yes, you wouldn’t believe me. She’s already dead, what more do I need to care about? Isn’t a grand funeral enough?”

Every word Sheng Xuanling uttered sent chills down Yan Ran's spine.

Cold-blooded, ruthless, and selfish.

Yan Ran couldn't believe that she actually trusted such a person, who could hardly be called human.

"You're such a bastard."

"This isn't the first time you've insulted me like this. I don't think it's true from a purely cultured perspective." Sheng Xuanling's face once again wore his signature mask: a cold smile, gloomy eyes, and his usual indifferent yet mocking words.

Yan Ran suddenly lost the energy to argue.

What's the point of her competing with someone like that? He doesn't care at all; life, emotions, nothing is more important than family fortune and profit. She's just blind; everyone she trusts is a scoundrel. She's been deceived once again.

Yan Ran sighed.

"The basement level of the church at the intersection of Celine Road and Fourth Avenue."

"Isn't this exactly what you wanted?"

Sheng Xuanling nodded.

"If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving. I hope there will be no further contact between us, and that we'll be even." After saying this, Yan Ran turned and left.

Sheng Xuanling suddenly felt that if he let her go like this, he would never be able to have Yan Ran again, but in the end he withdrew his outstretched hand and took out his phone from his pocket.

"Go to the basement of the church at the intersection of Celine Road and Fourth Avenue and retrieve the CD."

After Yan Ran rushed out of the small building, she realized that the place was actually near the downtown area.

It was an area behind the residential area not far from the central square. In her memory, it had been bought by a private individual a long time ago, so it had remained vacant and undeveloped.

Unexpectedly, the property owner was Sheng Xuanling.

Yan Ran lowered her eyes and silently walked through the alley to the central square.

She trusted Sheng Xuanling so much, but he was just another liar.

Yan Ran casually found a coffee shop, sat in the lobby, and stopped thinking about these things. She had made up her mind to draw a line between herself and the past.

We will never see each other again.

Leaving the main family was also on the agenda.

Of course, the first thing to do is to find a job that can support you.

Yan Ran smiled bitterly. She had been so foolish to give up her promising career for love and become a housewife for so many years. What had she gained in return?

Nothing at all!

She shouldn't have become disconnected from society, and she certainly shouldn't have entrusted her happiness to a man.

Whether you are male or female, you can only rely on yourself.

Only one's own abilities, status, and money can guarantee a stable life. Love is never the entirety of life; it is a diversion. Children should not fill a woman's entire life either.

People should live for themselves.

Mentioning her child, Yan Ran thought of Tangtang again, and felt a dull pain in her heart. She loved her daughter so much, but in order to save Zong Zhengqing, she indirectly caused Tangtang's death.

She wants to save Tangtang.

Moreover, this incident gave Yan Ran an idea. Although she didn't know why, her intervention in the past delayed Tangtang's death. In other words, as long as she kept going back in time to influence events that might be related to Tangtang's death, Tangtang might be able to come back to life.

This is just a hypothetical scenario, but it's her last resort.

Yan Ran suppressed the turmoil in her heart, took out her phone from her pocket, and dialed a number.

She was calling her old friend Yu Xiao. They hadn't been in touch for a while after Tangtang's incident.

"Hey, Xiaoxiao, do you have a moment now?"

After Yan Ran finished speaking, she heard a man and a woman laughing softly on the other end of the phone, along with a few words of bickering. Yu Xiao then replied, "Yes, yes... Ji Shuhai, stop messing around!"

She vaguely heard Ji Shuhai say, "Let's get down to business." Then Yu Xiao pushed him away without any mercy.

"Xiao Ran, what's up? Do you want to come out and play?"

Yan Ran hesitated for a moment before speaking, "I... I want to move out of the Zong family. Can I stay at your place for now?"
