The phone was on speakerphone, and I subconsciously looked at Jiang Yuwei. Her beautiful face was calm, and her dark eyes glanced at me with an intriguing look.

I gave an awkward laugh. I knew that Jiang Yuwei and I had a bad relationship in the past, but I didn't expect that even the teacher knew about it. Just how bad must our relationship have been?

Just as I was about to speak, Jiang Yuwei took my phone. She briefly mentioned my amnesia and asked Teacher Qin for the address, saying that she would arrange for someone to pick up Teacher Qin and come over to talk to me in detail. Then she hung up the phone.

I leaned forward and asked, "Um...did Teacher Qin say anything else?"

"He didn't say anything. You can talk when he arrives."

Jiang Yuwei handed my phone back, grabbed my hand, and pulled me to sit down next to her. Her tone was flat but tinged with displeasure, "You're a piece of trash? Looks like you've cursed me quite a bit before."

I said with a forced smile, "That's all in the past. Besides, maybe you really were quite the target of criticism back then."

She tightened her grip on my hand slightly, but didn't object. She just stared at me intently, then looked up and kissed my cheek before starting to kiss me passionately.

In my limited understanding, I thought that when dating a calm and aloof woman like Jiang Yuwei, I would be the clingy one.

I never imagined that she was just calm and indifferent on the surface, seemingly detached from worldly desires, but in reality she was as wild as a runaway horse, domineering and forceful, kissing me whenever she wanted, without caring whether I wanted to or not.

If she hadn't been injured, I probably would have been pinned down on the bed and raped by her countless times.

How did she manage without me, given how much she desires?

In the afternoon, Secretary Li invited experts over, and they took turns examining me. I felt very confident.

Back in the small fishing village, Jiang Yuwei said that these experts were very capable and would definitely help me with my amnesia.

After undergoing numerous examinations and blood tests, the experts concluded that while I had a chance of regaining my memory, the opportunity was slim, and since the injury was in my brain, it was difficult to treat and they did not recommend any treatment, advising me to take it as it comes.

I pursed my lips, my face full of disappointment.

After Secretary Li saw the experts off, Jiang Yuwei put her arm around my waist and said in a deep voice, "Amnesia can't be rushed. If this group of experts isn't up to par, we'll find another one, okay?"

I had no choice but to listen to her.

The next day, Jiang Yuwei was discharged from the hospital. Her wounds had healed a lot and had mostly scabbed over. However, she still couldn't do any stretching or exert herself because she had lost too much blood and needed to be properly nourished.

The doctor instructed me to take good care of her and have her check-up once a month.

I did as instructed and went home with Jiang Yuwei.

The huge villa was surrounded by many flowers, which bloomed beautifully and smelled wonderful in spring.

There was a patch of roses, all kinds of roses, and I exclaimed with delight, "How beautiful!"

Jiang Yuwei, dressed in a black dress, smiled faintly, "You like it?"

I nodded emphatically, staring intently at the garden. "It's so well-maintained, it's like a cozy home."

Whether it was me managing it before the divorce or Jiang Yuwei managing it, it all reflects a sense of warmth, showing that they are people who live life with care. I don't know how it got to such an unmanageable state.

She looked down at my face, her gaze so deep it seemed to drown me. “You’re back. Now our home is a home, and it’s warm and cozy.”

I turned to look at her, smiled, and said, "You're so good with words. Let's go."

She took my hand and led me into the villa.

Several maids lined up outside the door to greet us. Wu Ma was so touched by my return that she burst into tears and busied herself preparing a lot of food for us.

I wanted to eat extra spicy food, and Wu Ma readily agreed, but Jiang Yuwei stopped me.

I defended myself, saying, "My stomach is fine now, it's okay to eat a little."

I felt nauseous because the food in the small fishing village was a bit greasy, but I haven't felt nauseous since.

No sooner had I finished speaking than the maid brought out a steamed fish. The aroma of the fish was irresistible, and I immediately felt my stomach churning. I rushed to the bathroom and vomited uncontrollably.

Jiang Yuwei pursed her lips, her eyes full of heartache. "I told you your stomach wasn't good, but you're still stubborn. You can eat whatever you want when you're better, okay?"

I was feeling much better in the hospital, only occasionally feeling nauseous. I nodded uncomfortably, "Okay."

Standing outside, Aunt Wu asked, puzzled, "Sir, what's wrong?"

Jiang Yuwei answered for me, "Sir has a sensitive stomach, so please make something light for him to eat."

Aunt Wu readily agreed.

Jiang Yuwei tried to help me up, but I was afraid that her wounds would reopen, so I tried to stop her. However, I couldn't persuade her otherwise, and she helped me back to my room.

I felt nauseous and immediately lost my appetite. Jiang Yuwei brought over some fragrant ribs and beef, but I still didn't want to eat them.

Jiang Yuwei fed me, "Teacher Qin will be coming tonight. If you don't eat, I'm afraid you won't have the energy to get up and chat with him."

Is Teacher Qin arriving today?

"Ah."

Judging by the time, it should be almost time to go back to China. I ate with a frown, barely managing to swallow half a bowl, because I really couldn't eat anymore.

I felt sleepy and drowsy after eating, and my head was dizzy and aching. But I didn't dare tell Jiang Yuwei this, for fear that she would have to see a doctor again, since they always spend a long time looking at patients but can't find anything wrong.

Jiang Yuwei helped me draw the curtains, and I lay down to sleep while she went to handle her work.

Her accidental injury has caused a backlog of work, with key projects in the company awaiting her approval and guidance.

The company is operating relatively normally, but Manager Zhang reported some unusual news today: "President Jiang, the engineering projects that the Lin family acquired have already started and are quite successful. They're also working on overseas projects following our model, although the profits are only average, but at least they're imitating us. We've just lost the projects like this. You might not care about Mr. Jiang's side, but are you really going to let it go like this?"

Other people in charge of the project echoed their dissatisfaction.

Healthy competition is perfectly acceptable, and you should accept defeat. However, malicious competition is simply a slap in the face, and it's too cowardly to just swallow your pride.

Jiang Yuwei asked, "What other moves has the Lin family made lately?"

Manager Zhang said, "The Lin family recently partnered with an entertainment company and seems to be preparing a new drama with a large investment. They probably want to promote someone and make money. President Jiang, how about we promote a popular star to surpass the Lin family?"

Jiang Yuwei leaned back in her chair, looking languid: "Going all out like this might not even be enough to defeat the competition. It's too slow to take effect and won't affect their ability to make money. The Lin family took two projects from Huaxiao, so we'll just make them pay back double later. There's no need to go head-to-head with them."

"Please contact Lin Chuyue and ask her out for a meal."

Manager Zhang agreed.

No one spoke again. Jiang Yuwei's style had changed recently. She was no longer flamboyant, always left room for her competitors, and her only goal was to make money. She would avoid those who stood in her way and not confront them directly. Even with the Lin family, she only asked for the money back. No one could figure out what she was thinking.

Besides, why would the Lin family obediently return the money? Isn't that a bit too naive?

After the meeting, Secretary Li called Jiang Yuwei and sent her a document.

After reading it, Jiang Yuwei raised an eyebrow and narrowed her dark eyes.

"Is that her entertainment company? She poached a lot of resources from Bai Xi's company and even collaborated with the Lin family on film projects?"

Secretary Li said earnestly, "Yes, President Jiang, and the registered address of this company is in the same city as the overseas address that the police found back then."

“I suspect that the person who hired someone to kill the old man back then was really her—Gu Mengmeng.”
