Sober and beautiful, my husband and son begged for my forgiveness on their knees.

Chapter 1: She didn't want her husband or son anymore.

"Let's sign the agreement."

Ning Yao opened her eyes and saw Lu Jingmo with a displeased expression, pushing a document in front of her.

The man said coldly, "Anyway, you won't need it. You can give your spot to Yanyan for this exchange program in England."

Ning Yao lowered her eyes, staring at the familiar black and white words in front of her, and only realized after half a second that she had really been reborn.

Lu Jingmo didn't notice her unusual behavior, only displeased with her silence. "This exchange program will take you to England for six months. Mingjin is still young and needs constant care. What will happen to the child if you leave?"

Ning Yao reacted upon hearing Lu Mingjin's name.

Lu Mingjin, her and Lu Jingmo's child, is just six years old this year.

Her gaze fell on Lu Jingmo's face, and her words were cold and sarcastic: "Isn't he your child too?"

Lu Jingmo frowned. "What do you mean by that?"

Ning Yao said calmly, "The literal meaning."

Lu Jingmo clearly didn't understand her words. His expression was displeased. "Ning Yao, we've been married for seven years. You don't need to use Ming Jin to threaten me. You weren't like this before."

The implication was that only if she remained as submissive as before would she be the Mrs. Lu he wanted.

"Lu Jingmo." Ning Yao closed her eyes, and when she looked at Lu Jingmo again, all emotions had faded from her eyes, leaving only a coldness: "Let's get a divorce."

When Ning Yao said those words, she felt completely relaxed.

Like the shackles that had always bound him, they vanished without a trace.

Lu Jingmo's voice betrayed his displeasure: "Stop fooling around."

"You think I'm joking?" Ning Yao asked back, then laughed. "I've never been this serious before."

Lu Jingmo's expression darkened further. He said coldly, "Playing hard to get won't work on me. I've already made up my mind. Don't try to be difficult anymore."

He got up, picked up the coat from the rack, and said, "I have something to do tonight, so I won't be coming back."

After saying that, he left without looking back.

Ning Yao chuckled. Back in her room, she took out her phone to consult a lawyer, but a pop-up notification suddenly appeared—

It was posted on Ning Yan's WeChat Moments.

"I never imagined that even at my age, someone would still be willing to fulfill my whimsical little requests. The night view from the Ferris wheel was truly beautiful. A special thank you to my two princes, one big and one small!"

The accompanying photos are a nine-grid layout. Ning Yan, with her exquisite makeup, sits in a Ferris wheel, with one arm around Lu Mingjin and the other around Lu Jingmo, smiling sweetly and adorably at the camera.

She even added a self-evaluation, tagging Ning Yao: "Sister, I'm borrowing your precious son and husband for a bit. I'll return them to you later, don't be angry."

Ning Yao stared at the photo for a long time before closing her eyes, suppressing the indescribable bitterness in her heart.

It wasn't because of Lu Jingmo, but because of Lu Mingjin.

She still remembered that at Lu Mingjin's fifth birthday party, she watched him blow out the candles and asked him with a smile what he wished for, saying that Mommy could make it come true for him.

Without thinking, Lu Mingjin blurted out, "I hope Aunt Ningyan can be my mother."

Ning Yao found it hard to describe the feeling at that moment; her heart felt like it had been struck by lightning, and her hands and feet were numb.

She suffered a difficult childbirth and severe bleeding when she gave birth to Lu Mingjin. It almost cost her her life to give birth to him; he was a lump of flesh that was cut off her body alive.

Even so, Lu Mingjin kept thinking about his father. In his eyes, his father was working hard every day for the family. Even though Ning Yao was the one who cooked for him, played with him, and took care of him every day, it was still Ning Yao who did all the cooking and playing.

In her previous life, after she was locked up in a mental hospital, Lu Mingjin came to visit her.

Through the thick protective glass, Lu Mingjin's childish face couldn't hide her anger and disappointment: "How could you use such methods to harm my aunt? How could I have such a vicious mother! If you don't apologize to my aunt, I'll have Dad lock you up for life!"

Ning Yao opened her mouth to explain, but when she met her son's hateful gaze, she couldn't utter a single word.

The framing that Lu Mingjin mentioned was actually orchestrated by Ning Yan herself. She hired a few thugs, deliberately staged a scene, and then pinned the blame on Ning Yan in the end.

It was actually a very clumsy plan; a closer look would reveal the truth.

But no one investigated. No matter how she explained, there was only one-sided accusation and scolding, calling her jealous, inherently vicious, and saying that they should never have brought her back in the first place.

Finally, Ning Yan spoke softly, "I don't blame my sister. She must have been under too much pressure these past few years and developed mental problems, which is why she did such a thing. Why don't we send her to a mental hospital for a checkup?"

With just a casual remark, her fate was sealed.

At that moment, the vibration of her phone pulled Ning Yao back to reality. Looking down, she saw a message from her lawyer.

"You and your husband have a six-year-old child. Legally, children are considered to have the ability to make their own choices. If you are fighting for custody, the child's wishes will be very important. So I suggest you talk to the child first."

Ning Yao pursed her lips, a chill running through her eyes, and slowly typed out her reply—

"No, I don't want custody."

Even a dog knows to be grateful, but she hasn't received the respect she deserves after all these years of devotion to them.

She doesn't want either Lu Mingjin or Lu Jingmo!
