Chapter 90: The PLA Occupies France?
"Dream World International announced that it has acquired a 36% stake in French software company Yubi Software, officially becoming Yubi's largest shareholder. If the acquisition is successful, Dream World Games will become the world's second-largest game company after EA!"
Unlike the lamentations from the French media, the Chinese media were more enthusiastic, as if they could already see the world's second-largest game company rising up in mainland China, a place that had never had any outstanding game companies.
Despite the external turmoil, Su Yi and the entire top management of Dream International paid little attention, remaining remarkably tight-lipped even when interviewed by reporters. Currently, there's no indication of French government intervention, but vigilance is still necessary. Furthermore, as the largest IT company in China, Dream International's management had engaged in lobbying with the Chinese government before this acquisition. Therefore, this acquisition is destined to attract the attention of both governments. Maintaining French government neutrality depends on how quickly Dream International can resolve this issue.
Even if the French government does not intend to intervene in this acquisition, it will be on the premise that it will not have too much impact on the French people and society. If the acquisition drags on for too long, the possibility of the government intervening to stabilize public sentiment cannot be ruled out.
Therefore, Su Yi and Liu Jun's requirement for Chen Yi's acquisition team was to complete the acquisition target as soon as possible—to ensure at least a 60% controlling stake, so as to facilitate the next step of integrating the Dream Game Company.
Faced with the banknotes waving in the hands of China Dream International, many of Yubi's small shareholders finally wavered.
Between August 12th and 14th, Dream International's acquisition team reached acquisition agreements with Credit Lyonnais (holding approximately 5.42% of Yubi's shares), Caisse des Depocirctset Consignations (holding approximately 5.77% of Yubi's shares), and Societe Generale Asset Management (holding approximately 4.64% of Yubi's shares). They acquired nearly 16% of Yubi's shares from these three financial companies at an average price 18% higher than the market price. Combined with the 9% of shares Yubi acquired from existing shareholders and minority shareholders, by August 15th, Dream International had successfully acquired 61% of Yubi's shares, officially announcing its control of the company. The next step is to apply for a board meeting to reorganize the company.
After a fruitless struggle, the French Guillemot family, threatened by a potential capital injection and forced shareholding increase from DreamGames, had to face reality and announce the sale of its 26% stake in Yubi to DreamGames for $150 million. This increased DreamGames' stake in Yubi to 87%, and after the next round of capital injection, it will exceed 90%, making it the absolute controller of Yubi Software.
This acquisition cost DreamWorks International approximately $750 million, resulting in control of Yubisoft, Europe's second-largest game developer. After integrating with DreamWorks' existing resources, they will become the world's second-largest game developer. This acquisition benefits not only DreamWorks, but also Lechang Networks, which becomes more competitive due to the increased resources. Furthermore, the group's subsidiary, Sicheng Software, will acquire Yubisoft's non-game businesses, enhancing its software development capabilities.
Regarding Dream International's acquisition, one foreign media outlet reported: "Dream International has succeeded again. With their aggressive approach, they have finally snatched the lucrative prize of Yubi Software. It must be said that with the support of its online gaming business, Dream International's profitability is astonishing. I wonder who their next target will be after they've finished this feast?"
"breeze?"
"Yes, Master, it's me."
"Aren't you going to participate in the WCG China Qualifiers soon?" Ji Feng's sudden call to Su Yi surprised him. They hadn't been in touch much lately, not because Su Yi was particularly busy, but because Ji Feng and the others were working frantically towards their goal of winning the WCG championship, leaving them with very little free time.
"Yes, our competition is the day after tomorrow. We're busy training right now, but of course, we need to relax too. Oh, right, Master, I almost forgot about something important. My sister called and said she's flying to Yanjing the day after tomorrow. I have a competition that day, and Sister Rong is competing with me too, so she can't get away. We don't want to trouble Uncle and the others. Master, are you free that day?"
"You mean you want me to pick up your sister Ji that day, right? No problem. By the way, why did sister Ji suddenly come to Yanjing?" Hearing Ji Feng's words, Su Yi couldn't help but think of that ever-changing woman, Ji Yanran. He hadn't heard that she was coming to Yanjing.
"Master, didn't I tell you? Really? Maybe I've just been too busy lately. My sister graduated from university this year and got accepted into your school's master's program, so she's coming over early. Ugh, what a headache! She's definitely coming to keep an eye on me, to keep my freedom..." Listening to Ji Feng's complaints, Su Yi laughed heartlessly. Little did he know, Ji Yanran was coming to Yanjing to pursue her master's degree.
It's no wonder Ji Feng is so frustrated. If she knew he'd barely been to school lately, she'd probably go crazy. But then again, despite being busy with training, Ji Feng hasn't neglected his Wu Da Xin Fa (Martial Arts Manual) practice. His mental abilities are now far superior to the average person; if it's just about getting a diploma, even cramming before the exams would be easy. However, the most important thing is to learn something. Perhaps he should try something outside of the team. She should discuss this with him sometime.
Anjing has a dormitory at the Dream Technology Park, where she shares a room with another girl. Su Yi originally wanted her to move in with him, but Anjing didn't want her roommate to know she was staying out all night, so she refused. Su Yi was quite annoyed by this; it seemed she wouldn't be able to think about it until the semester started.
However, once the idea took hold, it wasn't easy to take it back. Su Yi couldn't help but wonder if he should find a bigger house and build a love nest with An Jing. To be honest, Su Yi really liked his current room in Mengyuan Apartment, but while the space was comfortable for one person, it would feel a bit small for two. Therefore, Su Yi started thinking about finding another place.
It's hard to believe that China's richest man would live in a place like this. Su Yi hadn't thought much about it before, but since he wanted to live with An Jing, he figured he should look for a better place. He didn't plan to tell An Jing about it yet, intending to surprise her later.
