Chapter 54 Xie Li

After confirming that Xie Li's foot hadn't caused any further problems, Su Yi politely declined her offer to treat him to dinner again. He returned to his apartment, ate something casually, and then drove to the Century Building.

He had just gotten out of the car when he saw Mo Yuqing leading Mo Jin'er out. When Mo Yuqing saw Su Yi, a slight awkwardness flashed across her face, but it was easily concealed and barely noticeable. She seemed to remember something, her eyes lighting up. After greeting Su Yi, little Jin'er, who still remembered her brother Su Yi who had been affectionately kissing the beautiful older sister, was also very fond of Mo Jin'er's adorable appearance.

Mo Yuqing suddenly asked, "Xiao Yi, is there anything going on later?"

Su Yi looked at Mo Yuqing, and for some reason, he kept thinking of her charming and feminine side when she was at home. Trying to shake off the thought, Su Yi replied, "Nothing much, just going to the company to check on things. Is there anything I can do for you, Sister Mo?"

"Xiao Yi, can you do me a favor? I'm going to meet a client later, and it's inconvenient for me to bring Jin'er with me. Everyone at my company has left work. Could you stay with her for me? I'll be back soon."

Su Yi wasn't in a hurry, and he liked Jin'er very much, so he readily agreed, saying, "Okay, no problem, Jin'er, let your brother play with you, okay?" He squatted down and smiled at Jin'er.

Jin'er nodded her little head and said earnestly, "Jin'er will wait for Mom to come back with Brother Xiaoyi."

Seeing this, Mo Yuqing gave Su Yi a grateful look and hurriedly drove away. Su Yi said softly to Jin'er, "Where would you like to go, Jin'er?"

Jin'er's cute little head looked thoughtful as she said in her childish voice, "Jin'er wants to go to KFC to eat egg tarts."

"Okay, Jin'er, accompany your brother to the company first, and then I'll take you to KFC for egg tarts, okay?"

Seeing Jin'er happily agree, Su Yi took her little hand and took the elevator to his company. Because the paid subscription plan had already begun, the company was quite busy, especially the customer service department, which had to handle many customer inquiries and applications. In response, the company had previously recruited a new batch of customer service staff and intensively trained them, finally enabling them to meet customer needs.

There's a saying that goes, "Never underestimate a woman's gossip." Even in this atmosphere, seeing Su Yi walk into the company with an extremely cute girl, you could hear the female employees chatting amongst themselves during their breaks.

"What a cute girl! Could she be Chairman Su's daughter?"

"No way, Chairman Su is so young, how can he have such a big daughter? But this girl is so cute, like a porcelain doll."

"Could it be Mr. Liu's daughter?"

"Mr. Liu has a son, okay?"

"Oh... how do you know so much about President Liu? You must have ulterior motives."

"No, that's not it. I heard that last month Mr. Liu had his secretary busy buying birthday gifts for his son. But the girl that Chairman Su is with looks so familiar, like I've seen her in the building before."

Hearing the murmurs behind him, Su Yi broke out in a cold sweat; gossip really was everywhere. He led Mo Jin'er into his office and called in his secretary. Su Yi rarely came to the company and hadn't planned on having a secretary. But Liu Jun had later found him one specifically to coordinate things, making many matters easier to handle. The secretary assigned to him was named Ai Moli, a very pretty girl.

After Ai Moli entered, she politely asked, "Chairman Su, is there anything I can do for you?"

"Notify the purchasing department to procure five more servers. I need them; use the same model as what we're currently using. This needs to be done as soon as possible; I'd like to see these servers by tomorrow afternoon. That's all. Oh, and could you please pour me a cup of tea and a glass of orange juice? Thank you."

"Okay, Chairman Su. By the way, there are a few documents on the table that you need to review." After saying that, Ai Moli left the office.

"Jin'er, wait a moment, I'll take you to KFC after I've looked at these." Su Yi said to Mo Jin'er. Ai Moli had already brought in the tea and orange juice. She put the tea on Su Yi's table and then handed the orange juice to Jin'er.

Su Yi quickly scanned the documents, finishing them in no time. Seeing Jin'er still looking at him expectantly, he smiled and asked, "Jin'er, are you hungry?"

"Hmm, Jin'er is hungry, Brother Xiaoyi, can we go to KFC?" Mo Jin'er asked Su Yi with her big, bright eyes.

"Alright, brother will take Jin'er to KFC now," Su Yi said after packing his things.

Holding Mo Jin'er's hand, Su Yi walked out of the Century Building, opened the car door, let her get in, and then drove to the nearest KFC.

When they arrived at KFC, it was quite crowded, mostly with young people and parents with children. Jin'er went straight to the children's area to play, while Su Yi waited in line to buy something, watching Mo Jin'er play inside. Suddenly, Mo Jin'er put on her shoes and ran over, took Su Yi's hand, pointed to the table opposite, and said, "Brother Yi, Jin'er wants that toy too."

Seeing her gazing longingly at the toy in the child's hand, Su Yi said softly, "Okay, brother will buy you that toy too. Jin'er, go and play happily."

Upon hearing that Su Yi had agreed, Mo Jin'er happily ran off to play again.

When it was Su Yi's turn, he asked the waiter and learned that buying a children's meal would get him a free toy. So he bought a children's meal and a box of egg tarts, Jin'er's favorite. He himself had already eaten and wasn't hungry, and didn't particularly like the food here, so he only ordered chicken wings and popcorn chicken. After getting everything, Su Yi found an empty seat and called Mo Jin'er over to eat. It seemed Jin'er was also hungry, as she hurried over, but remembered to wash her hands. Su Yi helped her wash her hands, and when they returned, she immediately picked up the free toy, admiring it, and leaned in to kiss Su Yi's cheek. This made Su Yi very happy.

It seems that Mo Jin'er has a good upbringing; she eats with the manners of a little lady.

"Does Jin'er really like KFC?" Su Yi asked with a smile, looking at her adorable appearance.

"Yes, but Mom doesn't let Jin'er eat too much. She says that if she eats too much, she'll become a chubby girl. Jin'er doesn't want to become a chubby girl. There's a chubby girl in our class, and none of the other kids like to play with her. Jin'er likes to come here, though, because there are lots of other kids to play with."

Hearing Jin'er's childish words, Su Yi found it amusing and couldn't help but ask, "Jin'er has many friends to play with at school, right?"

“Jin’er doesn’t like them. They say Jin’er doesn’t have a father.” Little Jin’er said this with a sadness on her face that was beyond her years. She said dejectedly, “Jin’er asked her mother why she doesn’t have a father, but every time her mother heard Jin’er ask, she would hug Jin’er very sadly. Jin’er was also very sad, so she stopped asking her mother.”

Seeing Jin'er's sad appearance, Su Yi felt a pang of heartache and sat down beside her, gently hugging her and stroking her hair tenderly, saying softly, "Jin'er, don't be sad. Jin'er still has her brother. Brother will protect you."

Jin'er raised her head and looked at Su Yi with innocent eyes, asking, "Really? Then, brother, would you like to be Jin'er's father? Jin'er really wants to have a father, but Jin'er doesn't dare to tell her mother."

Hearing her outrageous words, Su Yi didn't laugh. He gently said to Jin'er, "Jin'er, your brother will treat you well like a father, but your brother can't be your father." Seeing the disappointment in her eyes, Su Yi quickly said, "Then how about your brother be Jin'er's godfather?" As soon as he said it, he regretted it a little. He hadn't let Sister Mo know yet. Was it too abrupt of him to say this? But seeing the satisfied smile on Jin'er's face, he knew he should do it.

Still a child at heart, Jin'er perked up again upon hearing Su Yi's words, earnestly extending her finger and saying, "Let's pinky swear, you can't go back on your word, okay?"

Su Yi extended his little finger and hooked it with hers, saying together, "Pinky promise, for a hundred years, no changing..." Then he stamped it with his thumb, earnestly making this childish promise.

Su Yi said with a smile, "Then Jin'er will be my goddaughter from now on. She can't call me brother anymore, she has to call me dad."

"Daddy." Jin's childish voice called out the name earnestly. At that moment, Su Yi suddenly felt a strange connection between them, as if they were flesh and blood. He hugged the girl, kissed her rosy little face, and said, "Good girl Jin'er, let's eat. Weren't you hungry just now?"

"Mmm, Jin'er wants Daddy to feed her," Mo Jin'er said sweetly in Su Yi's arms. Su Yi picked up an egg tart and fed it to her, feeling extremely satisfied as he watched her excited and radiant face. Before he knew it, Jin'er had finished everything. She patted her little tummy and said, "Jin'er is so full, where's Daddy?"

“Daddy’s full too.” Su Yi picked her up affectionately. Just then, Su Yi’s phone rang. It was Mo Yuqing calling. She said she had finished her work and asked where Su Yi and the others were. Su Yi told her their location and then said to Mo Jin’er, “Jin’er, Mommy is coming soon. Let’s go out and wait for her.”

“Yes, Daddy.” Mo Jin’er looked at Su Yi expectantly and said, “I want to ride a horse too.” Su Yi didn’t react for a moment, but he followed Mo Jin’er’s gaze and saw a man letting his child ride on his shoulders. The child was excitedly shouting “Giddy up…”, and Mo Jin’er looked at the boy with envy in her eyes.
