Chapter 128 [Extra] Su Dai, the Hanahaki Disease, and This Land (1)
The "lonely rock" meme has been overused lately.
It's a long-awaited story about mushroom stewed chicken and the teacher's tip.
In short: lighthearted, featuring old-fashioned references, and unrelated to the main text.

Amuro Tooru stood outside the operating room.
Strictly speaking, this place didn't originally offer any substantial medical services. It was an organization's laboratory, and if Su Dai hadn't asked Amuro Tooru to bring him here before falling into a coma, he wouldn't even have known the laboratory existed.
He always habitually turned his head to look at that cold, hard metal door. The corridor was filled with the unique smell of disinfectant mixed with unknown chemical reagents, and through the heavy door, he could almost hear the faint hum of the precision instruments operating inside the laboratory.
Just now, when Sherry, the young codename member of the organization, saw Su Dai, the surprise and anxiety that flashed in her eyes seemed genuine. However, she quickly controlled these emotions and remained as calm as ever, methodically directing the other laboratory staff to push Su Dai through that door.
Amuro Tooru looked down at his hands, where the blood from Su Dai had congealed, turning an ominous dark red.
He vividly remembered rushing to the scene not long ago, surrounded by corpses lying haphazardly, roughly twenty or thirty in number. The snow was still falling then, not the light, soft flakes, but the sharp, piercing snowflakes that stung his face. The air still reeked of gunpowder and blood, a testament to the fierce battle that had just taken place.
Amuro Tooru bypassed the corpse and walked towards the light.
The streetlights cast a soft glow, and in the darkness, just a step away from the light, he heard the clear sound of a bullet being chambered.
He raised his hands to indicate that he meant no harm, then asked softly, "Su Dai, is that you?"
Amuro Tooru stared intently at the movement in the darkness. Although the sound of wind and snow masked many subtle noises, his keen senses allowed him to confirm that the sound of the gun being cocked had come from Su Dai.
“Bourbon…” The voice seemed to be whispering, yet also confirming something.
"It's me." Hearing the familiar voice, Amuro Tooru slowly approached. He saw Su Dai leaning weakly against a wrecked car, clutching a bloodstained pistol tightly in his hand. His head was lowered, and his expression was unreadable.
Amuro Tooru's heart tightened, and he quickly stepped forward. "Are you alright?"
"If you had arrived any later, my injuries would probably have healed by now." Although the other person's tone was much weaker than usual, the teasing remained unchanged.
"You still have the energy to mock me? Looks like you really aren't that badly off..."
Amuro Tooru stopped abruptly before he could finish speaking, because he had finally seen the injuries on Su Dai's body.
His left shoulder was clearly lacerated by a bullet, the wound so deep that bone was visible, and blood soaked through his black trench coat, leaving only a shadow; his right leg was also covered in wounds, seemingly cut by a sharp object, with muscle fibers turned outwards, and the wounds exposed to the air had begun to congeal into dark brown scabs; his left hand gripped the pistol tightly, his fingers turning white from the excessive force, while his right hand pressed against the bleeding wound on his left shoulder.
Su Dai struggled to lift her head, licked her chapped lips, and gave a hoarse laugh: "Have you seen enough?"
"You call this injury 'almost healed'?" Amuro Tooru frowned slightly, took out an emergency tourniquet and bandages from his pocket, and prepared to treat Su Dai's wound. "Don't talk, I'll bandage you right away."
Su Dai clutched his wound and barely managed to dodge his hand, but the movement seemed to aggravate the injury, causing him to gasp in pain. "Hiss—Bourbon, I honestly think that if you just ignore me, I'll recover faster."
"Su Dai." Amuro Tooru didn't realize that his tone carried a hint of anger. "This is not the time for jokes. If you don't want to live, just say so."
"Don't worry, I won't die before... " Su Dai seemed to whisper something, but his voice was so soft that Amuro Tooru couldn't hear him.
He then forced a helpless smile, maintaining his usual relaxed and composed demeanor. "Alright, Bourbon, but compared to your medical skills, I trust Sherry more... She should be in a nearby lab right now... cough cough cough..."
At this point, Su Dai suddenly coughed violently. His face was contorted in pain, and he turned his head away, covering his mouth with the hand he had been using to cover his wound.
In the dim light, Amuro Tooru seemed to see a few petals slip silently through his fingers.
However, this thought only flashed through his mind. Amuro Tooru quickly stepped forward to support Su Dai and asked, "Are you suffering internal injuries?"
Su Dai coughed incessantly, struggling to speak, "Cough cough... I guess so, a bullet was stopped by the bulletproof vest just now..." His eyes were somewhat unfocused. Su Dai tried to regulate his breathing, then withdrew his hand. There were no flower petals there, as if they were illusions, only blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.
"Stay calm, I'll take you to find Sherry right now."
Suppressing the inexplicable unease that welled up inside him, Amuro Tooru quickly helped Su Dai into the back seat of the car, letting him lean against it, and then drove to the laboratory that he had never known before.
On the way, he occasionally glanced at Su Dai's condition through the rearview mirror. He noticed that Su Dai's face was growing paler, but his spirits were still good. Finally, their eyes met, and Su Dai curled up into a smile. "Don't keep looking at me like that, like you're giving me a terminal checkup. It's disgusting."
Amuro Tooru's fleeting sympathy for Su Dai was quickly nipped in the bud. However, being the magnanimous man he was, Amuro Tooru decided not to hold a grudge against the injured man, turned his gaze away, and slammed on the gas pedal.
When they arrived at the laboratory Su Dai had mentioned, Su Dai had already quietly passed out—it was unclear whether it was due to excessive blood loss or motion sickness from Amuro Tooru's car ride.
……
Amuro Tooru turned his gaze back to the tightly closed metal door. But this time, it didn't take long for the door to open, and Sherry, dressed in a white lab coat, stepped out. Despite her tired expression, she still glanced back at Amuro Tooru with a calm expression.
"Sherry." Amuro Tooru greeted her. "Excuse me... how is Su Dai doing now?"
“Actually, his external injuries are not serious. His constitution is quite special, and his recovery speed is quite astonishing.” Shirley took off her gloves and said slowly, her tone calm.
"but?"
“But…” Sherry paused, took out a sample bag from the lab, and inside lay a nearly transparent amber-colored flower. Then, she looked up and gazed into Amuro Tooru’s eyes, “Do you know what this flower is?”
