Quick Transmigration: Forbidden to Covet Beautiful NPCs

Chapter 84 The Hypocritical and Greedy Childhood Sweetheart 22

Shen Yu looked at him without saying a word, and Wu Tongxue asked, "Why aren't you saying anything? Can't you speak?"

"Not urgent."

Wu Tongxue looked away, sensing that his gaze was strange.

After finishing his chicken porridge, Shen Yu was about to go to his study to handle official business when he paused before leaving. "Could Xiaoxue come and help me?"

"can."

Wu Tongxue entered the study, which was neat and clean, with various books neatly arranged and a few folded papers casually placed on the large desk.

A map of the entire Da Xuan was hanging on the wall, and Wu Tongxue's mind went blank for a moment when she passed by.

Shen Yu had already sat down behind his desk, pulled out a book, and started reading it by himself.

Looking further ahead, Wu Tongxue discovered a hidden door that wasn't fully closed.

"!"

He took a small step back, contemplating whether he should go outside.

Is this the place he should be?

Shen Yu sat behind his desk, casually flipping through the neatly arranged folded documents on the table, and then placing them to either side after reading them.

He looked up at the bewildered Wu Tongxue, his demeanor as usual, and said, "Xiaoxue, come here."

Wu Tongxue walked over slowly, and more than once she wanted to leave, but she stopped when she saw the bandages showing on his wrist.

When he arrived at the desk, he was called to the side, and Shen Yu wrapped his arm around his wrist and pulled him to her side.

A calligraphy brush was handed to him. "I don't trust anyone else. Can Xiaoxue help me?"

Wu Tongxue: "!"

This is too much trust in him; Wu Tongxue doesn't want to accept it.

Shen Yu stood up and switched places with him. Wu Tongxue was thus confusedly pressed down to sit behind the desk, holding a calligraphy brush in her hand.

Wu Tongxue never imagined that he would encounter a memorial to the throne in his lifetime.

"It's alright, just write it as I say."

Shen Yu slowly ground the ink with one hand, standing to his side and behind him, his shadow almost completely covering the person in front of him.

Confining people to one's own territory evokes a strange and indescribable sense of satisfaction.

The study door was tightly closed, with only a few rays of indoor light shining through the window, casting indistinct shadows on the figures.

The candlelight flickered, the wick crackled, and the atmosphere was tranquil.

Wu Tongxue imitated Shen Yu's handwriting and wrote down the reply word for word according to his dictation.

Most of the messages were greetings, and the replies were very brief. There were also some trivial matters, for which Shen Yu offered some advice.

There weren't many memorials, and it only took a little over half an hour to process them all.

Wu Tongxue slumped in the chair, his head tilted back, and the half-open hidden door naturally came into his view.

She nudged Shen Yu and whispered, "What's in there?"

Observing Shen Yu's expression, Wu Tongxue was ready to change the subject at any time.

"Want to go take a look?" Shen Yu asked nonchalantly, even inviting him inside.

Wu Tongxue hesitated, "...Can I go see it?"

I hope there aren't any secrets hidden inside.

Unable to contain his curiosity, he became restless and eager to explore the darkroom.

"There's nothing inside, let's go." Shen Yu took the lead and walked towards the hidden door. When he reached the door, he turned to wait for Wu Tongxue.

Wu Tongxue followed him inside and entered a narrow passageway.

The sides are inlaid with luminous pearls, which spread a light with a cool tone, so that people are not completely blind.

Suddenly, she bumped into a button on the road. With a click, Wu Tongxue turned around and froze.

The door is closed.

Shen Yu also heard the noise, but remained calm and said, "It's nothing." He continued walking forward.

Seeing how calm he was, Wu Tongxue regained her composure before she could even feel afraid. Shen Yu was the master of the dark room, so he wouldn't be trapped.

He caught up with Shen Yu's slowed pace.

At the end of the corridor was a rectangular dark room with a small window at the top, and no other light source.

Without the luminous pearl, the room was pitch black. With her excellent night vision, Wu Tongxue could see a stone bed in the center, on which was a futon-like object.

There were several closed boxes in the corner, but they weren't locked.

On the other side was a low bookshelf, less than a person's height, with books arranged haphazardly and looking somewhat messy.

Shen Yu lit the candlestick on the bookshelf with a tinderbox, and the candle emitted a halo of light, revealing his figure.

Perhaps due to the environment, Shen Yu's expression appeared rather cold, and his aura was eerie and sinister.

Wu Tongxue walked around in circles. "What's in there?"

It wasn't a dungeon, nor did it resemble a study; it was just strange and unusual.

The bright and clear voice touched Shen Yu's indifferent nerves, and his expression began to soften. "This is a quiet room. I come in and stay for a while when I'm feeling troubled."

Wu Tongxue listened carefully; it was indeed very quiet inside, but it was too dark.

Shen Yu handed him a candlestick, indicating that he was free to look around.

Wu Tongxue wandered around casually, the gloomy environment not arousing much interest in him, his curiosity had already been satisfied.

"Xiaoxue, can you stay here with me for a while?" Shen Yu deliberately lowered her voice, looking somewhat pitiful.

Shen Yu rarely showed this attitude. Wu Tongxue turned the candlestick around and said, "Then I'll turn it around again."

Wu Tongxue squatted down to look at the books on the bookshelf, the boxes on both sides... even a stone in the corner, holding a candlestick.

The books on the bookshelf were mostly Taoist and Buddhist scriptures. He would flip through a couple of pages and then quickly put them back, keeping them far away.

The box wasn't locked. He turned around and glanced at Shen Yu, who was meditating on the stone bed with her eyes closed.

Perhaps he's practicing martial arts?

He squatted in front of the box for a while, studying the patterns and wood, before slowly moving on to another spot.

Holding the candlestick, I wandered around, but didn't encounter any small animals. Instead, I kicked pebbles from one corner to an even more secluded spot.

Then, bored, I stood at a distance and counted how many books were on each shelf.

The spring air was a bit cool, but not cold; Wu Tongxue found the temperature very comfortable.

The stone bed was spotless. Wu Tongxue found standing tiring, so she simply sat down in a corner of the stone bed, where she could see Shen Yu with just a turn of her head.

He simply sat cross-legged on the stone table, propping his chin up with one hand as he looked at Shen Yu.

Upon closer inspection... it's actually quite beautiful.

Not knowing how long Shen Yu would stay, Wu Tongxue estimated the time in her mind, thinking that she would have to remind him if it got too late.

He was lost in thought, unaware that the eyelashes of the person he was looking at trembled.

A moment later, Shen Yu opened his eyes, his gaze dark and brooding.

"Are not you afraid?"

I was alone with him in a dark, enclosed space.

Wu Tongxue snapped out of her daze, not understanding his question, and looked at him suspiciously, "Are you afraid of the dark?"

The candlestick had just gone out by accident, but since he had excellent night vision, he simply didn't relight it.

Afraid of the dark?

Shen Yu shook her head.

Wu Tongxue handed the candlestick to him. He hadn't brought a tinderbox himself. "Don't worry about me. I used to go out at night all the time, so I'm not afraid of the dark."

He urged him again, "Light the candle."

"Are you feeling better? It's getting late. The doctor said you need to rest more."

With mixed feelings, Shen Yu took out a tinderbox and lit the candlestick. The dim candlelight was not glaring.

He glanced at the box out of the corner of his eye; there were no signs that it had been opened. His expression remained unchanged, but a sense of regret crept in.

Wu Tongxue caught that gaze.

Curiosity was piqued once again.
