Figure Skating: Waltz on Ice

Du Liangchen heard his name called and stood on the second step.

Next up was Mei Jing, and Du Liangchen and everyone else applauded and congratulated him.

On the way back, Du Liangchen looked at the medal and fell into deep thought.

Seeing that Du Liangchen wasn't speaking, Du Langxing asked, "What's wrong?"

"It's nothing. I just remembered my first competition. I thought I was dreaming. I was in a daze when I received the award, and I didn't realize it was real until I got back to the hotel. I was just half asleep."

Du Langxing burst into laughter when he heard him recount his embarrassing story.

“I know, there’s still a video of you receiving your first award at home. I can’t believe it’s been four or five years.”

Du Liangchen nodded in agreement: "Yes, time really flies."

Back at the hotel, he shared the good news with his family. Although he wasn't the first to return, it was a tremendous encouragement for the injured player who had just come back.

After a day of joy, Du Liangchen resumed training the next day.

The season went by like this, with Du Liangchen's performance fluctuating. Due to the pressure of the games and the travel, Du Liangchen suffered asthma attacks many times.

It was painful, but he had to persevere. Through his efforts, he won one championship and one fifth place in the two Grand Prix stages. He then won the championship in the Grand Prix Final.

They finished fourth at the World Championships, missing out on a medal.

Du Liangchen lost a lot of weight over the season, and even though he paid close attention to his nutrition, he still became thinner and thinner.

He also grew two centimeters taller.

Du Liangchen, who has now emerged from the competition, is preparing for promotion to the next group and the college entrance examination.

Du Liangchen skipped grades repeatedly and was about to take the college entrance examination at the age of 15.

He was torn between studying at a university in China or abroad. Du Langxing told him that it would be difficult to study at a university abroad if he was under eighteen.

So he stopped agonizing over it and considered choosing Harbin Institute of Technology, which was closer to home. But it was a university vulnerable to nuclear attack, and very powerful.

Du Liangchen's father attended this school.

With a goal in mind, all that was left was to work hard. Du Liangchen returned to school, and Du Langxing stayed by his side the whole time.

During the day, I go to school to study, and at night I go to the ice rink to train for several hours.

After turning 15, Du Liangchen took the promotion test, jumped a quadruple jump, and successfully moved up to the adult group.

His tasks will only become more and more demanding from now on.

The college entrance examination arrived in the blink of an eye.

Grandma Du got up early to make breakfast for Du Liangchen, and then the whole family took him to the examination hall.

The journey went smoothly, and seeing Du Liangchen enter the examination room without incident, I felt half relieved.

After the morning exams ended, I picked Du Liangchen up and took him home. We ate dinner and read for a while.

While Du Liangchen's life was much easier, his family members couldn't relax at all.

Two days later, after the exams ended, no one got up early to cook breakfast. Du Liangchen, who saw all this early in the morning, smiled to himself.

Then I went out for a morning exercise by myself, and when I came back I brought back a big bag of breakfast, and then I woke them up.

After the college entrance examination, Mei Jing and Du Liangchen talked on the phone to find out how he did.

The two people's relationship is not as close as it used to be, but after all, they have been together for many years, so it is impossible for them not to keep in touch.

The next season will be the quadrennial Olympic year, and Du Liangchen went abroad with his uncle after finishing the college entrance examination.

Although I don't know if I can get a medal in the Olympics, opportunities are for those who are prepared, and it's never wrong to train harder.

The atmosphere in the club grew increasingly oppressive, and smiles disappeared from the faces of the players from various countries.
