Figure Skating: Waltz on Ice

Chapter 34 Going Home

Du Liangchen and Du Langyu chatted for a few minutes when they heard someone calling Du Langyu on the other end of the phone, so they quickly hung up.

Du Liangchen's excitement transformed into immense motivation—the drive to win the championship. This feeling was wonderful, like a drug addict who had successfully overcome addiction seeing drugs again.

Back at the hotel, Grandpa Du's phone kept ringing. Aunt, uncle, maternal grandmother... all inquired about Du Liangchen's competition results. When they heard that he had won a certain award, they were all very happy and kept praising Du Liangchen for his excellence.

Du Liangchen listened while fidgeting, feeling both happy and embarrassed.

Grandpa and Grandma Du took Du Liangchen out for dinner when their phone rang again.

"Hello."

"..."

"Ah, yes, yes, I am Du Liangchen's parent."

"..."

"Really? Okay, okay, we'll report for duty within seven days."

Du Liangchen felt extremely hungry and kept eating as soon as the food was served, ignoring everything around him.

Grandpa Du kept laughing after hanging up the phone. Although he had been laughing ever since the competition ended, he was a little excited this time.

"Hahaha... Little Chen~"

Du Liangchen chewed the food in his mouth and hummed in agreement.

"Ok?"

"Do you know who just made the call?" Grandpa Du asked, keeping everyone in suspense.

Du Liangchen kept talking, then shook his head.

"It's the training team; they want you to report for duty within a week."

Du Liangchen opened his eyes wide in surprise, looking at Grandpa Du with disbelief.

He asked uncertainly, "Really?!"

Grandpa Du said with certainty, "Really."

When Grandma Du heard the news, she smiled and congratulated Du Liangchen.

"Oh my god, I can finally make it into the training team! This is amazing, waaaaah~"

Du Liangchen burst into tears of excitement. This was the day he had been waiting for all this time; he had finally caught up with Mei Jing and Hao Shuxue.

Everyone wants to be the champion, but if I don't win, I'll keep trying next time and it won't hurt my confidence.

However, falling behind teammates with similar skills and training together can lead to self-doubt and a loss of confidence.

That evening, the three packed their luggage. They had originally planned to stay another day before returning home, but due to the training camp, they changed their plans and decided to go home the next day to settle their other two children before heading to the capital.

Grandma Du also called her aunt in the capital to tell her that Du Liangchen was coming to visit her and asked her to help prepare everything.

It was another day of the whole family mobilizing. We set off for the station early in the morning, bought breakfast on the way, and ate it on the bus.

At the station, Grandpa Du looked after the luggage, while Grandma Du watched over Du Liangchen, because of the near-disaster they had encountered last time. This time, Grandma Du held Du Liangchen's hand the whole time, not letting him out of her sight for even a second.

After several hours of travel, the three finally arrived at their destination.

I took a taxi home.

Brother Du and Brother Du Er were watching TV at home when they were quite surprised to see the three of them return.

"Grandpa, Grandma, Xiaochen, you're back so soon! We thought you wouldn't be back until tomorrow at the earliest," Du Erge said happily to the three of them.

Brother Du also said, "Yes, you guys rushed back right after the competition, right? How did Xiao Chen do?"

When Du Erge heard what Du Dage said, he glared at him, implying that since the three of them had returned so quickly, Xiao Chen's grades must not have been very good, and he didn't even feel like playing. Why did you have to bring that up?
