Figure Skating: Waltz on Ice

Mei Jing looked at the busy signal on her phone and murmured softly, "When...?"

"Hello, Dad, it's me..."

"Dudududu..."

Mei Jing stared blankly at his phone after hanging up. Lan Xin reached out and took his cold hand. "It's okay, Mom's here. Don't be afraid! Just like you said, once you make a choice, you always have to face the difficulties that come with it, right?"

"I don't regret it, but I didn't expect him to find out about it so suddenly, and I was a little at a loss for what to do."

Mei Jing gripped his phone tightly. His father's stern roar hadn't frightened him; instead, his first thought was relief that he hadn't brought Du Liangchen back, fearing he might be scared.

Lan Xin's tearful and worried expression did not disappear because of his words. She rubbed his damp and cold hands and comforted him, "That's good. Calm down and think about how to talk to your dad later."

He restarted the car, and the interior fell silent. The weather outside was fine, and the sunlight shone through the car window onto Mei Jing, but it couldn't warm his sinking heart.

After verifying their identities, the car drove into the compound. Lan Xin walked in front, while Mei Jing followed behind, pulling her suitcase.

"Hey! Xiao Jing's back! Congratulations on another gold medal, hahaha~" Grandpa Lu, who was watering flowers in the neighboring yard, spoke loudly to Mei Jing after seeing him.

Mei Jing smiled and said, "Hello, Grandpa Lu, have you eaten?"

Grandpa Lu: "What time is it? Why are you eating? Can you stay a couple more days this time?"

Mei Jing: "Ah, I have a week off."

Seeing the two chatting endlessly, Lan Xin smiled and said, "Uncle Lu, his dad is still waiting for him at home. Let's go in first."

Grandpa Lu: "Alright, go back now. Your father is such a busy man, you two must have not seen each other for a long time."

As soon as the two entered, they saw Mei Han sitting in a day chair with a serious expression.

He was imposing and resolute, with strong features, like a sculpture. His brows revealed a firmness and determination, and his eyes were deep, as if they could see through everything, which made people feel a sense of awe.

Mei Jing stopped being nervous when she saw him, put down her suitcase, and walked up to him. "Dad, I'm back..."

Before Mei Jing could finish speaking, she was slapped by Mei Han, her face turning to the side.

Lan Xin stepped forward, pushed Mei Han aside, and shielded Mei Jing behind her, angrily questioning, "What are you doing, Lao Han!"

"What am I supposed to do?!" Mei Han pointed at herself, then pointed at Mei Jing, who was being protected by Lan Xin, and roared, "Ask him, ask your good son, ask him what he's trying to do!"

"But you can't hit him! He's 19, he's an adult!"

Lan Xin tenderly lifted Mei Jing's head, which was being blown by the wind. In just a few breaths, Mei Jing's face swelled up, showing how much force Mei Han had used in that slap.

“Look at the damage you did to him. You don’t want this son, but I do! Well, we’re divorced anyway, so you can find someone else to have a child with.”

"What nonsense are you spouting? When did I say I didn't want him anymore? Don't try to be unreasonable!"

"Fine, now everyone thinks I'm being unreasonable? Go find whoever isn't being unreasonable."

Lan Xin released Mei Jing, her eyes reddening with anger and heartache. She pointed at Mei Han and threatened, "Let me tell you, Mei Han, I only have one son. He can like whoever he wants. If you drive him to his death, I'll make you pay with your life!"
