Chapter 222 The Heartache That Cannot Be Hidden

Du Langxing switched places with Mei Jing to accommodate Du Liangchen.

After taking the medicine, Du Liangchen felt sleepy and leaned against his uncle, falling asleep in a daze.

The car stopped outside the venue, and Du Langxing woke him up, "Xiao Chen, Xiao Chen, wake up, we're here."

His cheeks were flushed from the fever, and he groaned softly. His eyes were tightly closed, and his long eyelashes fluttered slightly before he opened his wet eyes and stared at him blankly.

Du Langxing patted his leg. "Get off the bus. We've arrived."

"Oh, get off the bus!" Du Liangchen rubbed his still-slurred head.

Mei Jing watched him in the corridor, her heart aching for his dazed state, but she was powerless to help.

A large group of reporters and fans gathered at the entrance, snapping photos of them with their cameras and microphones.

Mei Jing walked ahead, worried, and kept looking back at Du Liangchen to see if he was keeping up.

After passing the inspection, Du Liangchen entered the venue smoothly. He was so confused that he almost fell. Mei Jing saw this and hurriedly reached out to help him, but there was some distance between them. Fortunately, he grabbed the wall next to him in time and avoided making a fool of himself.

Mei Jing walked to his side, put her hand on his neck, and the cold touch made Du Liangchen instinctively shrink his neck.

"Are you alright? Are you dizzy?" Mei Jing asked worriedly.

Du Langxing followed behind with the suitcase, pulled Mei Jingshou aside, glared at him to signal him to tone it down, and then asked Du Liangchen, "What's wrong? Are you alright?"

"It's okay, the shoelace came undone, I just stepped on it."

As he spoke, he kicked the foot whose shoelace was untied, and was about to squat down when Mei Jing beat him to it. Ignoring the cameras around them, she tied his shoelace and tightened the lace of the other shoe as well.

"Okay, now it's OK."

When Jiang Weijun saw this scene, a meaningful glint flashed in his eyes. He seemed to understand something as they suddenly changed dorm rooms, and his face instantly darkened.

It's no wonder he just noticed. These kids usually act very close, playfully teasing each other without any ulterior motives. Moreover, Du Liangchen and Mei Jing subconsciously avoid each other, and because they're evenly matched, they try to avoid appearing at the same races unless it's a Grand Prix Final. He never expected Mei Jing to develop feelings for Du Liangchen.

Jiang Weijun suddenly felt a headache coming on. He grabbed Mei Jing, who was standing there and wouldn't leave, and said, "We should go in. Don't forget that you have to play in the game today. Xiao Chen has Coach Du here, so we don't need you. Come with me!" Mei Jing was then reluctantly pulled away.

Jiang Weijun kept a close eye on Mei Jing's every move, and when he saw Mei Jing trying to get closer to Du Liangchen, he called out to stop him.

Fortunately, Du Liangchen's draw was relatively late, which gave him time to bring down his fever.

Under the worried gazes of the three, Du Liangchen took the stage and performed adequately without any major mistakes. He scored 92.63 in the short program, temporarily ranking fourth.

Mei Jing scored 99.25 points in the short program, temporarily ranking second.

When Du Liangchen got home that night, he had a fever again. This time, the fever caused him to have difficulty breathing and his asthma relapsed.

The atmosphere was very tense as they looked at Du Liangchen lying in bed receiving oxygen. They didn't know if Du Liangchen would be able to play in the match two days later.

Du Langxing and Mei Jing tried to persuade him to withdraw from the competition, but Du Liangchen was unwilling to give up halfway through, even if he didn't achieve any results.

Seeing how determined he was, I couldn't be too harsh, especially since he was still sick.
