Figure Skating: Waltz on Ice

Chapter 144 Someone really was eavesdropping.

Mei Jing spoke calmly, but her voice carried a hint of anxiety: "I have to go now, I need to go back."

Du Liangchen said okay and then hung up the phone.

Mei Jing put away her phone and looked at the strange man in front of her wearing a hat and mask. "You're listening to me. You're a paparazzi, aren't you? Hand over what you just photographed and recorded."

The man looked fierce and said defiantly, "I don't understand what you're saying, and this is a public place. What makes you think I'm taking pictures of you without your consent? What evidence do you have? Do you believe I'll call the police?"

Mei Jing was amused by his self-righteous attitude. "Fine, call the police. That's exactly what I was thinking." With that, she took out her phone and dialed the police.

When the man saw that Mei Jing had actually called the police, he turned to run away, but Mei Jing, who was prepared, tripped him and he fell to the ground with a thud, attracting the attention of others.

"Hello, I need to call the police. Someone is following me... Yes, on the ice rink under the stadium."

Upon hearing Mei Jing's words, the man became extremely nervous and shouted, "I really didn't take a picture of you! You're suffering from paranoia!"

Hearing the sounds coming from this direction, and seeing a crowd gathered, Fu Nanchu wondered, "That's the direction Xiao Jing is in. Could it be... something happened?"

He couldn't sit still and went forward to check, only to see Mei Jing arguing with a man whose face was completely obscured by his clothes. He tried to push his way forward, saying, "Excuse me, excuse me..."

Approaching Mei Jing, he asked with concern, "What's wrong? What happened?"

Mei Jing: "This person not only secretly filmed me but also eavesdropped on my phone calls. I have already called the police."

Mei Jing didn't lower her voice intentionally, so the people around her who were pointing and whispering heard it. Originally, they were criticizing Mei Jing for tripping someone, but now they all turned their anger towards the paparazzi.

The man had just tried to use people's sympathy for the weak to get away, but not only did he fail, he also couldn't escape anymore, as his path was blocked.

Soon, the stadium security guards came over to inquire about the situation. The man made a false accusation, and Mei Jing explained the reason, saying that she had already called the police.

To avoid disturbing others, the security guards took Mei Jing and the paparazzi to the office.

What Mei Jing didn't know was that while he was arguing with the paparazzi, some people took pictures of him and posted them online for attention, with the headline "Athlete catches paparazzi, suspected of calling the police."

The police arrived quickly, and Mei Jing and the man went to the police station.

After questioning and evidence collection, a large number of secretly filmed videos and audio recordings were found on the man's phone.

The evidence was irrefutable, and no amount of sophistry from the man could change it. Mei Jing was furious, but a wave of fear washed over him after hearing the recording. If he hadn't listened to Du Liangchen and checked his surroundings, that recording would have plunged him into utter ruin.

When the police asked Mei Jing if he wanted to pursue the matter further, he answered without hesitation that he would. After completing the necessary paperwork, Mei Jing left the police station, while the man remained in custody.

Fu Nanchu waited for him by the flower bed in front of the police station. Her expression softened slightly when she saw him come out.

Mei Jing took Fu Nanchu back to his mother's house and told her that he was going back to his team in a couple of days and needed her help with the lawsuit.

When Mei Jing's mother heard the whole story, she was furious and accused him of not calling her or his father, her words filled with concern that Mei Jing might be hurt.
