Figure Skating: Waltz on Ice
Chapter 120 Family Trust
I mustered my spirits and went to the bathroom. I had just washed my face with cold water when I heard someone knocking on the door.
"Xiao Chen, your aunt is back!"
Upon hearing Grandma Du's words, Du Liangchen quickly looked in the mirror. Seeing that everyone in the mirror was fine except for his slightly red eyes, he breathed a sigh of relief and called out from the doorway, "Grandma, wait a minute, I'm changing my clothes."
To avoid being noticed, Du Liangchen quickly changed into a purple tracksuit and went out.
Du Liangchen is a very particular person when it comes to clothing. He doesn't like the clothes his grandparents buy for him, which causes a lot of disagreements, and he can't buy clothes for himself.
Because training and studying take up all his time, he asked to buy a set of clothes. This saves his grandparents a lot of trouble buying clothes, and he can just take them and wear them, which is very convenient.
Du Liangchen opened the door and saw his grandparents sitting on the sofa watching TV, but their eyes kept looking away, clearly not paying attention to what was being shown.
Not seeing Du Langyue, Du Liangchen glanced around the kitchen and, finding no one there, sat down and asked, "Grandma, didn't you just say Auntie was back? Where is she?"
After he came out, Grandma Du's eyes never left him. Seeing his slightly reddened eyes, she sighed softly, took his hand, pointed to the balcony, and said in a deliberately relaxed tone, "Your aunt is on the balcony making a phone call. She said she's treating us to a big meal later. I'm afraid you'll fall asleep inside."
"Was he asleep? Did your grandma wake him up?" Grandpa Du looked at Du Liangchen's eyes and turned to Grandma Du with a slightly reproachful tone. "I told you not to wake him. He's definitely sleeping. Look at his red, rabbit-like eyes. He must have been woken up before he was fully awake."
Grandma Du was immediately displeased upon hearing this. She turned to Grandpa Du with a fierce expression and said sourly, "How can you blame me? It's all because of your precious daughter. She felt sorry for you, an old man, cooking at home, and insisted on eating out!"
Grandpa Du: "It's not like she's not your daughter! She just thinks my cooking is bad. If she cares about you, it's because your leg is injured and she's worried you'll get tired from standing for too long!"
Du Liangchen, standing to the side, blinked in bewilderment, finding the elderly couple's bickering like children quite novel.
I don't know if it's because he's away from home most of the year, but I rarely see my grandparents bickering like this.
Grandma usually talks while Grandpa listens silently. I don't know what's wrong with Grandpa today, but he actually talked back.
Du Liangchen smiled and shook his head, thinking that he couldn't let them continue arguing. Just as he was about to speak, he saw the balcony door open and Du Langyue walked in.
After seeing their daughter return, the grandparents also fell silent. Du Langyue looked at the strange atmosphere among the three people in the room and asked, "What's going on?"
Grandpa Du: "It's alright, your mother and I are discussing what to eat later."
Grandma Du nodded: "Yes, your dad and I want to eat seafood."
This back-and-forth banter completely overheated Du Liangchen's CPU. He blinked in bewilderment, unable to believe that the two people who were arguing so fiercely just moments ago were now acting as if nothing had happened.
He would never have believed it if he hadn't seen it; those two were arguing.
Grandma Du secretly glanced at the stunned Du Liangchen, chuckled to herself, then turned the back of her head to Du Liangchen and winked at Grandpa Du.
Grandpa Du coughed lightly and gave her a look, signaling her to tone it down and not to hurt his adorable grandson.
In reality, the two were not actually angry or arguing; they were just putting on an act for Du Liangchen to attract his attention.
When Du Liangchen came out of the room, the elderly couple could tell that he was in a very bad mood and must have been hiding inside crying, otherwise his eyes wouldn't have been so red.
After all, the two elders had watched Du Liangchen grow up since he was a child, and they could tell at a glance whether he was woken up or secretly crying.
On the way, Du Langyue didn't talk to Du Liangchen about the internet, but said, "Your two older brothers are both doing internships and won't be able to come back this holiday. You'll be all alone, how boring! Why don't you go stay with your aunt for a few days?"
Du Liangchen said with a smile, "My aunt is so busy, she doesn't have time to spend with me. I'd better stay at home with my grandparents."
In contrast, while Du Liangchen's family of four happily set off for dinner, the atmosphere at Mei Jing's family was unusually tense.
Mei Jing's parents sat upright, their cold eyes looking at Mei Jing standing in front of them with a serious expression.
Mei Aohan was inspecting the military camp when his bodyguard suddenly handed him his phone. He saw a news article about Mei Jing, and when he clicked on it, he was shocked.
Then I called Mei Jing's mother, Zhao Xiyan, and told her that Mei Jing had an accident and asked her to come back.
After finishing her work, Mei Aohan rushed home without stopping.
Then came the scene of the three-way trial we see today.
Mei Aohan asked in a serious tone, "Speak, didn't you and Xiaochen go on a trip? How did you end up in the police station?"
He didn't ask if there was anything between the two of them because he believed his son was so serious because they had come to the police station, which worried him. He also worried that the high level of attention the incident received online might cause his two children to do something drastic.
Upon hearing his tone, Zhao Xiyan couldn't help but glare at him: "Don't be fooled by your father's attitude. Actually, your father and I are very worried about you. Son, we want to know what happened and find a way to resolve this matter."
Mei Jing had initially intended to remain silent due to her father's attitude, but upon hearing her mother's words and recalling her visit to Du Liangchen's house where Du Liangchen sat on the floor, seemingly on the verge of collapse, she became focused on resolving the matter. Therefore, she recounted everything that had transpired the previous night.
After realizing it was a misunderstanding, their expressions softened considerably.
Mei Aohan told Mei Jing not to worry about this matter, as he would contact the police to clarify the situation.
Meanwhile, Du Liangchen and his family had arrived at the restaurant. Du Langyue, seeing Du Liangchen looking preoccupied, tried her best to cheer him up.
At the dinner table, everyone chatted and laughed, and Du Liangchen's mood improved slightly.
After dinner, Du Langyue found Du Liangchen and told him not to let the online incident affect him. She had already reported it to the police and filed a lawsuit.
Du Liangchen hesitated for a moment, but finally told her what had happened.
Although Du Langyue had already heard it once, there were always omissions in other people's retellings. Hearing the complete version of what happened, she was still furious and cursed the woman who was knocking on her door in the middle of the night.
He watched as his usually decisive aunt went on a tirade for half an hour without repeating a single word, and he couldn't help but feel admiration.
Du Langyue calmed down after she had finished cursing. Remembering that her nephew was right beside her, she quickly tried to smooth things over, encouraging him to face the difficulties bravely and saying that she would always support him.
