Chapter 110 The Terrifying Doorbell

Du Liangchen turned pale with fright, and Mei Jing was also terrified. The two huddled on the bed, too afraid to open the door.

A minute later, the knocking on the door didn't stop.

Mei Jing frowned, her expression grave: "With all this knocking, didn't the hotel staff notice?"

Du Liangchen swallowed hard: "Yeah, this hotel is so unreliable. Mei Jing, let's call the front desk or the police."

Mei Jing noticed that Du Liangchen's hand was trembling as he held his phone, so she patted him on the back and reassured him, "It's okay, I'm here. Maybe we're overthinking it. This hotel has a high level of security. Maybe the doorbell is broken. I'll go check it out first, and if we're sure someone is knocking, we'll call again."

Du Liangchen said in a panic, "Well, that's fine, but I'll go with you. It's not safe for you to go alone."

Seeing that he was so scared that he could barely speak, yet still concerned about her safety, Mei Jing looked at him with burning eyes, her lips unconsciously curving upwards into a warm smile.

Du Liangchen waited for him to go to the door together to take a look, but he didn't get down. He thought he was scared too, so he looked up at him and saw him looking at him with a gentle and doting expression. For a moment, his heart skipped a beat and he was frightened by his complicated look.

She blinked, then frowned and said, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Mei Jing's eyes darted away, and she coughed lightly: "Cough, I didn't expect you to be such a scaredy-cat. I wonder who usually loves watching horror movies?"

Du Liangchen's eyes widened, like a little kitten with its fur standing on end. Mei Jing couldn't help but pat his head.

Du Liangchen instantly lost his temper, pulling down the hand that was messing with his head, and said angrily, "Mei Jing, how dare you laugh at me? Who are you calling a coward? I'm a level 10 horror movie enthusiast, would I be afraid of a little doorbell? Ha~ what a joke."

As he spoke, he released his arms from Mei Jing, threw off the covers, jumped out of bed, and slowly moved toward the door with the air of a "hero going forth never to return."

The doorbell has stopped ringing.

Du Liangchen felt safe and kept encouraging himself in his mind: "Come on, Du Liangchen, you can do it! To save face as a man, charge forward!"

The distance to the door wasn't far; even though Du Liangchen moved slowly, it only took him a minute to get there.

Du Liangchen swallowed hard, turned around, and saw Mei Jing staring at him with a look of amusement. He felt disappointed that he hadn't followed, and bared his teeth at him fiercely, wishing he could tear his face off.

I kept telling myself that there are no ghosts in this world, that it's all a lie, a lie.

Prepare yourself mentally, then peer through the peephole at the door.

"Bang~"

Du Liangchen took a step back, but his legs gave way and he fell to the ground with a thud.

"Xiao Chen—"

Mei Jing exclaimed in surprise, quickly got out of bed, forgetting even to put on her slippers, and ran to Du Liangchen's side in two quick strides.

I saw Du Liangchen staring wide-eyed, still shaken, with tears in his eyes and cold sweat on his forehead. I felt so sorry for him.

She hugged him tightly and whispered comfortingly, "Xiao Chen, it's alright, it's alright, I'm here, Mei Jing is here to protect you..."

Du Liangchen was so frightened that she forgot to scream. The terrifying scene she had just witnessed kept replaying in her mind, and tears welled up in her eyes.

He looked through the peephole and saw a long-haired woman with a distorted face at the doorway. The person outside blocked the light in the corridor, but some light still shone through, creating a terrifying and dark atmosphere that shone on the distorted face, making it look like a vengeful ghost.
