Figure Skating: Waltz on Ice

Chen packed his things, said goodbye to Hao Shuxue and Mei Jing, and headed for the door.

Grandpa was already waiting at the door. Du Liangchen happily ran towards Grandpa, pulling his suitcase.

"Grandpa, why aren't you waiting in the car? It's very cold outside. Let's get in the car quickly." Du Liangchen smiled, his eyes sparkling as if they held stars.

Grandpa Du looked at his little grandson so happy and smiled, saying, "I know what time you get out of class. I saw you as soon as you got off the bus. You're not cold. Are you tired today? Your grandma is making chicken soup for you at home. Drink more when you get back to nourish yourself."

"I understand, Grandpa," Du Liangchen obediently replied.

"Now that you're on the path of a professional athlete, you can't afford to be unhealthy. You need to eat more, otherwise the high-intensity training will wear you out." Grandpa earnestly advised his grandson so that he would eat more.

Du Liangchen readily agreed: "Grandpa is right. I'm working hard for the championship, and I can't let my health stop me. I'm going to drink two big bowls of chicken soup today, okay, Grandpa?"

"Good, good, that's right. Your uncle's appetite increased dramatically after he joined the provincial team." Grandpa said with a beaming smile.

The grandfather and grandson chatted and laughed as they headed home.

"Grandma, Grandpa and I are back!" Du Liangchen shouted as he pushed open the door.

Grandma came out of the kitchen and saw the grandfather and grandson changing their shoes at the door: "You're back~ How was your first day of training? Are you tired?"

Grandma took the suitcase from Grandpa.

"It's alright, but the professional ones are different. The schedule is packed, and there are even dance classes..." Du Liangchen excitedly recounted what happened in the team today.

Grandma was delighted to hear this and said, "Oh? You've made friends and met two teammates. Get along well with them, okay?"

"Okay." Du Liangchen nodded in agreement.

"Your teacher has already sent over today's lessons and exercises." Grandpa and Du Liangchen sat down side by side on the sofa.

"I understand. I'll go check it out after I finish eating." Du Liangchen leaned back on the sofa, closed his eyes, and rested.

After receiving the invitation from the provincial team, Du Liangchen asked for leave from school. He would study at home and go to school when it was time for the exam.

"The chicken soup is ready, you two come and eat." Grandma came out of the kitchen carrying bowls and chopsticks.

"Grandma's here, I'll go get the dishes." Du Liangchen said as he ran into the kitchen.

My older brothers don't eat with us after school; they don't get out until after 8 p.m. The high school entrance exam is in six months, so the school has arranged for them to have evening self-study sessions.

"Come on, drink more chicken soup. Your constitution is weak, and now you have to do high-intensity training. If this goes on for too long, you'll break down." Grandma saw that Du Liangchen had finished his bowl of soup and ladled out another bowl for him.

Du Liangchen obediently finished his drink, and after a few more bites of rice, he couldn't eat anymore. His grandmother noticed his discomfort and told him not to eat anymore, otherwise he would overeat before he even finished eating.

Du Liangchen put down his chopsticks and said, "Then I'm going to class."

"Go ahead, circle any questions you don't understand and Grandma will explain them to you in a bit."

Grandma waved her hand.

Du Liangchen turned on his computer and found the video his teacher had sent...

After returning home and having dinner, Du Liangchen studied today's lessons. He's currently in third grade, and the teacher has already sent over today's lessons and exercises. After eating, Du Liangchen went to his room to study.
