A group of people dressed up as Conan characters, and I guaranteed the Black Team's advancement
5. People who shouldn't be there
A memorial service for Akira Sakamaki is being held at the Beika Hotel. Many celebrities from the political, financial, and entertainment worlds have gathered in the event.
Akemi Miyano, dressed in a black gown, followed behind Chris Vineyard, who was now working as the famous actress's assistant. Akemi was also just realizing that this television star was actually a member of the organization.
The memorial service officially began at six o'clock. Miyano Akemi glanced at her watch; there was still half an hour to go. Her task this time was simple: just keep an eye on Tsurugi Shigeyuki.
The memorial service seemed to follow the original script exactly, except that two people who were not originally present showed up at the registration area outside the venue.
"Ran, go in." After signing in, Eri received two handkerchiefs of different colors from the staff. Ran quickly hung up the phone and followed her in.
Eri Kisaki was a college classmate and friend of the director's son, which is why she attended the memorial service.
In Professor Agasa's car, Conan turned on the glasses tracker. The red dot on it indicated the location of Gin's car. The distance they were tracking was neither too far nor too close; it was just the right distance so that the other party wouldn't notice.
Conan put on his headphones, hoping to hear something through the tracker, but the listening device was clearly not powerful enough; he could only hear the sound of a car engine.
"Damn it, I still can't hear you." Conan sighed and took off one earphone, looking at the icon on his glasses. "Are they heading towards Beika in this direction?"
Professor Agasa's beetle eventually followed Gin's Porsche to the Beika City Hotel, where the car stopped some distance away. Conan looked out the window and saw Jiang Jin getting out of the Porsche.
"Beihu City Hotel, what are they doing here?" Conan pondered for a moment, then noticed that almost everyone entering the hotel was wearing a black suit with a white flower pinned to their chest. "Is this... someone's funeral?"
Conan immediately picked up his phone to check the news online. After scrolling through a few pages, he noticed a news item about the passing of renowned director Akira Sakamaki. The following information stated that a memorial service for Akira Sakamaki would be held at the Beika City Hotel.
"It seems like a lot of people will be attending this memorial service. So who exactly are they targeting?" Conan flipped through the news articles about the memorial service, which listed several people who would be attending. "Swallowing Truth? That name..."
Conan swiped up and saw the same name in a news report that suspected a certain politician of corruption and bribery.
"This person is attending the memorial service too?" Conan glanced at the photo of the politician named Shigeo Tonoguchi a few more times, then pulled out Inspector Megure's phone. "Forget it, whoever it is, let's notify the police first. If the police are there, it won't be so easy for them to do what they want."
Ran followed closely behind Eri. While her mother was talking to someone else, Ran caught a glimpse of a familiar figure.
"That's... Ms. Hirota?" Ran remembered that Masami Hirota, who worked at the bank, had left after the 1 billion yen robbery. "What is she doing here?"
From Ran's perspective, Hirota Masami followed a man towards the corner with a slightly nervous expression; she was a little worried. Turning her head, she saw that Eri's conversation wasn't going to end anytime soon, so she said she had run into a friend and wanted to say hello. Eri nodded at her without thinking much of it.
Akemi Miyano simply swallowed her words, as the police had already taken notice of her suspected bribery. After speaking with her assistant in the restroom, they left one after the other.
"!" Miyano Akemi hadn't expected to run into Ran either. Startled, she hadn't even reacted when Ran was knocked unconscious from behind. "You..."
Pisco caught Xiaolan and said coldly, "What a newbie, being followed by a little girl."
Akemi Miyano looked at Ran, her heart pounding with anxiety: "She's probably just worried about me..."
“It will be exposed. Go back and keep an eye on the swallowing opening. I'll take care of her.” Pisco interrupted Miyano Akemi.
Akemi Miyano clenched her fist slightly. As an outer member, she was like an ant in front of the codenamed members. She could only obey their orders and turn to leave.
At 6:20, Jiang Jin, dressed in a black trench coat, entered the memorial service. With a quick glance, her dark red eyes spotted Tun Kou Shigeyuki, who was surrounded by reporters, and Miyano Akemi, who was wearing a black dress nearby.
Their eyes met briefly before they looked away. Jiang Jin picked up the champagne from the waiter's tray and walked into a corner of the memorial service.
Chris Vineyard, who was chatting with someone, glanced at Jiang Jin out of the corner of her eye. The silver-haired young man seemed to be a newcomer whose presence had suddenly become more prominent recently.
Conan followed the crowd into the memorial service, where he saw many celebrities and naturally noticed Tun Kou Chongyan, who was surrounded by reporters.
"Wait, that's... Masami Hirota!" Conan turned around and saw the familiar woman in a black dress. "Could it be that the organization's target is this politician?"
At that moment, the door to the memorial hall was pushed open, and Conan saw Inspector Megure arriving with his men.
Just then, all the lights at the memorial service were turned off, and the large screen began playing works by Akira Sakamaki that had not yet been broadcast.
"Damn it, it's too easy to do something in this situation." Conan immediately tensed up. Everyone gathered in front of the projector, and he began to search for the hidden words in the darkness.
In the darkness, Jiang moved silently through the crowd. His target was not the taciturn man, but the photographer who might have captured Pisco's murder.
"Click!" A flash of light went off.
"Haha, even with a flash, this negative probably wouldn't be clear," the host said with a laugh to the photographer.
Everyone laughed good-naturedly, and the photographer scratched his head, not taking it seriously. The slideshow continued, and the photographer moved from his original position to try and take a different shot.
Completely unaware that someone was following him, Jiang Jin slid a sharp dagger out of his sleeve and, in the darkness, with the sound of a silenced gunshot, plunged the dagger into his lung from behind. The rushing blood blocked his throat, preventing him from making a sound of struggle.
Jiang Jin twirled the knife around in the wound and quickly pulled it out. He then half-supported the photographer and placed him in a chair. Wearing a black half-gloved hand, he took the film from the camera.
"Crack—" A sound like breaking glass rang out, all the lights were turned on, and everyone was shocked to find that the crystal chandelier had fallen to the ground, with a person lying underneath, and blood everywhere.
Conan removed the handkerchief that had fallen on his head before he turned on the light, then looked at the person trapped under the light. His heart suddenly tightened, because he knew the culprit was someone from that organization. It was even very likely the silver-haired young man who had chased him earlier.
However, we still need to see the evidence.
"Excuse me, everyone." Inspector Megure and several other officers pushed through the crowd. "Inspector Megure? Did you get here so quickly?"
Inspector Megure was also somewhat surprised to see Eri Kisaki: "It's you, Eri. You're here too? We came here after receiving news that someone was going to commit a crime at the memorial service."
“I see. Mr. Sakamaki’s son is my friend, which is why I brought Ran with me.” Speaking of Ran, Eri looked around, her expression revealing a hint of worry. “However, it seems that the child met some friends before the memorial service started and hasn’t shown up yet.”
Conan, hiding behind the table, felt his heart pounding as he overheard Eri's words. Ran was there too... Could it be...?
Jiang Jin stood on the outskirts of the crowd and was surprised to see Eri, since he remembered that Ran was not in the original storyline.
Things get interesting.
“Such a large chandelier, if it were murder, it would mean someone tampered with it, lured the person under it in the dark, and then did the murder,” the female writer said. “But that chandelier clearly didn’t have such a device, which should prove it wasn’t murder at all, right?”
"That just means that guy really got his comeuppance, otherwise why would it have hit him of all people?" another investor said while eating a bowl of fried rice. "Ugh! Ptooey!"
The man spat something out of his mouth: "What's this? Where's the chef?"
Conan quietly picked up the object from under the table with a handkerchief: "This is... a part from that chandelier. How did it end up in there?"
He looked at the handkerchief and the parts, and a clue already formed in his mind. Conan ran to the door and left the hall under the pretext of going to the restroom.
“If we keep these people here, there might be a riot.” Inspector Megure knew that most of the people here were not easy to offend. “Let them go for now; there are registrations at the sign-in area at the entrance anyway.”
When Conan returned, he saw everyone coming out of the memorial hall, and among them he saw Eri Kisaki looking anxious.
"Where did Xiaolan go?" Eri asked on her phone, but no one answered.
"Aunt Eri!" Conan ran over, "What happened to Ran-neechan?"
Eri Kisaki was quite surprised to see Conan, but she didn't have time to worry about how he ended up there. She answered in a slightly anxious but calm tone, "I can't get in touch with Ran. She said she was going to see a friend before the memorial service."
"Friends?" Conan wondered who Ran might know at this memorial service. He suddenly saw Akemi Miyano walking out of the hall. Conan's eyes met hers, and then he said to Eri, "I know who it is, Aunt Eri, please wait a moment."
Conan chased after Akemi Miyano until they reached a secluded spot, which is why he didn't see Jiang Jin leaving behind him.
Jiang Jin sent the news of the mission's success to Gin, and now he was going to meet with Pisco.
The meeting place is the old site of the Beika City Hotel, which can be reached from the new hotel through a connecting door.
"Huh? Where's Gin?" Pisco frowned when he saw Jiang Jin. "And who are you, kid?"
Jiang Jin, hands in his pockets, replied, "Duyago. The boss said to have Senior Pisk leave as soon as possible, and just hand over the things to me."
"Since when can any newcomer, regardless of level, come and work with me?" Pisco sneered, and Jiang Jin took out a negative from his pocket and waved it. "Since when did a veteran like Senior Pisco have to make us newcomers clean up his messes for such a simple task?"
Pisco's face darkened: "What do you mean?"
“At the memorial service, a photographer captured you making a move. Luckily, I found the person and took care of him.” Jiang Jin said, taking out a lighter. “Senior, you should thank me, otherwise the boss wouldn’t be sitting in the car now, but would be here to kill you.”
Pisco's expression turned grim, then pale, before he finally handed a hard drive to Jiang Jin: "This is what the higher-ups want."
Jiang Jin took the hard drive and lit the film: "Senior Pisco, you should leave soon, lest you be unable to leave later."
Pisco turned to leave, but Jiang Jin remembered something and suddenly called out to him, "Wait, I forgot to ask Senior Pisco something. Have you seen this little girl?"
"What?" Pisco turned his head and saw a photo on Jiang Jin's phone. The person in the photo was Xiao Lan. "You know her too?"
Jiang Jin raised an eyebrow: "Also?"
“She had her eye on that peripheral member, and I happened to see it and took him away,” Piske replied.
Jiang Jin put away his phone: "Where is he?"
“Dead,” Piscoe replied impatiently. “Drag him to the wine cellar and kill him. What exactly do you want to do?”
Jiang Jin didn't believe Pisco could kill Xiaolan; she was the female lead: "Where's the wine cellar? I'll go check... is she really dead?"
Ten minutes ago, Conan called out to Akemi Miyano.
"Miss Hirota, you saw Ran-neechan, right?" Although Conan asked the question, his tone was very certain. "Ran-neechan couldn't possibly know anyone else here except you."
Akemi Miyano lowered her eyes and then answered, "She was taken away."
"Taken away? By whom? Was it that young man with silver hair?!" Conan asked hurriedly.
Akemi Miyano shook her head: "You mean Duago? No, it's not him. It's another one of my accomplices. I don't know where she was taken. I'm sorry, I can't save her."
Conan clenched his fist, turned and ran away. After a few steps, he turned back and asked in a very serious tone, "Ms. Hirota, who... exactly are you people?"
"You're one of those people you should stay far away from."
Conan gritted his teeth; finding Ran was more important than anything else right now. He avoided the crowd and called Ran using Shinichi Kudo's number.
"Beep—" Conan anxiously looked at his phone, "Shin...Shinichi..."
Conan was overjoyed and immediately used Shinichi Kudo's voice to call out, "Ran! Where are you now!"
"I..." Ran's voice trembled slightly, as if she were very scared, "Shinichi, I feel like I've become a little strange. I... I've turned into a little child."
