A group of people dressed up as Conan characters, and I guaranteed the Black Team's advancement
36. Full Moon Hunt (The End)
Time goes back half an hour.
A murder had just occurred on the cruise ship. Disguised as Medusa, Yukiko Kudo made her way to the fourth deck without any hindrance. Perhaps the ship's owner had no intention of stopping anyone, which is why Yukiko Kudo was able to reach the fourth deck so easily.
The fourth-floor corridor also has many rooms, with exquisite carpets covering the floors and dim lighting. Kudo Yukiko walked down the corridor, and because of the carpets, her footsteps were not noticeable.
She came here to find an old friend, an old friend who should have been dead.
Walking along the corridor to its end, there was a small terrace. Yukiko Kudo saw a familiar figure standing by the terrace railing.
"Sharon, it's been a long time."
The person on the terrace paused, turned to the side, revealing a beautiful face. She didn't seem surprised by Yukiko Kudo's appearance, and even raised her wine glass to her.
"Long time no see, Yukiko." Vermouth stood there, her blue eyes quietly watching her.
Yukiko Kudo took a few steps forward and said to her, "I was really shocked when I heard about your identity. You left us so suddenly. Although I went to your funeral, I didn't have a chance to say goodbye properly. I never imagined that you had just changed your identity."
She paused, then asked, "How have you been these past few years?"
Vermouth chuckled softly, took a sip of her drink, and gazed at the moon over the sea, saying, "Whether it was good or bad... we've made it through. I thought you'd be afraid of me. After all, someone like me, in a sense, is kind of a monster, isn't he?"
“Sharon…” Kudo Yukiko’s eyes revealed a hint of heartache. After all, Sharon was one of her few good friends back then.
If you count them, they were fellow disciples, having both studied under Kuroba Doichi and worked together in the entertainment industry. They had a very good relationship back then, and she really liked Sharon.
"Don't look at me like that, Yukiko. You should know that my target at this party isn't just that little FBI girl, but also your son, Shinichi Kudo." Vermouth closed her eyes briefly, then opened them again, her gaze turning icy. "Your friend Sharon is dead."
Yukiko Kudo's eyes reddened slightly: "Sharon, do we really have to do this?"
Vermouth placed her glass on the balcony railing and walked towards Yukiko Kudo until she stood before her. She reached out and touched Yukiko's face, gazing at her silently.
"Did you come here today because you heard I was here, or because I'm going to kill your son?" Vermouth's hand slowly slid down from Yukiko Kudo's face. "Did you come for me? Or for your son?"
Yukiko Kudo opened her mouth, as if to say something.
Vermouth suddenly grabbed her neck, without using force, but it made Yukiko Kudo gasp for breath.
"Never mind, I'm not really that interested in the answer anyway."
Vermouth sighed, released Kudo Yukiko, and turned to look at the sea: "For the sake of our past relationship, you'd better leave as soon as possible. Once this is over, everyone on the ship can safely return to shore, including you."
“But Shinichi is still here. You want to kill him. As a mother, I can’t just do nothing,” Yukiko Kudo said.
"What can you do? Do you know how to use a gun, or how to fight?" Vermouth scoffed, taking a slender women's cigarette from her ashtray and putting it in her mouth. "You used to be a beautiful movie star, always like an innocent and optimistic young girl. Even after marriage, you're still the same, which is fine. Leave here; these things are none of your business."
Yukiko Kudo, of course, refused to leave: "Sharon, I'm begging you. I even said I wanted you to be my son's godmother..."
Vermouth took a drag of her cigarette, the smoke billowing from her mouth and shrouding her beautiful face like a mysterious veil, obscuring her thoughts.
"Let me tell you the truth, even if I don't lay a hand on him, the person who wants to kill your son is still on this ship. If I don't act, someone else will. Even if you beg me, it won't make a difference. I've never been someone who can make choices."
Yukiko Kudo pursed her lips, took Vermouth's hand, and said, "Who said Sharon? You have a choice. I know you must have your reasons for being in this organization. But that organization turned Shinichi into that, and turned you into that too. That shows how dangerous they are. Why can't we join forces and fight them together?"
"Yukiko, isn't Yusaku Kudo being a little too naive in protecting you? If I really have to leave, then death is the only fate awaiting me." Vermouth looked at Yukiko Kudo, her expression somewhat sorrowful. "Yukiko, I actually envy you. I'm also glad I once had a friend like you. But now the Sharon you knew is dead. From now on, please go and mourn the dead Sharon forever. Pretend you never saw me today. From now on, we can only be enemies."
"Sharon!"
"I told you to leave, didn't you understand?" Vermouth's expression suddenly changed, and she raised the gun in her hand, pointing the muzzle at Yukiko Kudo. "Don't make me lose my patience."
Meanwhile, Jodie had already separated from Shuichi Akai and made her way to the fourth floor. As planned, she left her room to investigate the fourth floor, while Shuichi Akai lay in ambush there waiting for the organization's members.
They all agreed that Vermouth wouldn't do it herself, and that she couldn't possibly be alone on the ship.
Judy gripped her gun and moved with utmost care, cautiously observing the activity in the corridor. The layout here was similar to the second and third floors. She randomly picked a door, gently pressed the doorknob, and found the door locked.
She vaguely heard voices at the end of the corridor, so she crouched down and slowly moved towards the end of the corridor, leaning against the wall. Fortunately, there was a wall on either side of the terrace where she could hide.
"My patience is limited, Yukiko."
Judy heard a woman's voice. Holding a gun, she steadied her breathing and saw Yukiko Kudo appear in her line of sight. The woman was visibly startled upon seeing her, but quickly recovered, turning her head back as if to look at her directly.
It was like giving Vermouth one last look.
As Vermouth watched Yukiko Kudo's departing figure, she suddenly called out to her, "Wait."
Yukiko stopped in her tracks, her body stiffening.
“I have something I want to give you,” Vermouth said, walking towards her. Yukiko Kudo turned her head. “What is it?”
Vermouth glanced behind her with her beautiful eyes, and when she walked up to Yukiko Kudo, she suddenly grabbed her and said, "You little kitten who's been hiding, come out."
From Judy's angle, she could naturally see that Yukiko Kudo had been taken hostage. She knew that she had been discovered, so she came out from behind the wall.
“Vermouth, it’s been twenty years, and I’ve finally caught you.” Judy pointed the gun at Vermouth and said, she would never forget that this woman killed her father twenty years ago.
Vermouth restrained Yukiko Kudo, shielding her in front of her, and said with a smirk, "It's too early to talk about arresting me now, isn't it? As for you, since you dared to come, you must have been prepared to stay here."
“No matter what, that’s between the two of us. Let her go,” Judy said, holding up her gun.
“Sure, then put the gun down.” Vermouth raised her chin, her hand covering Yukiko Kudo’s face to prevent her from making a sound. Jodie raised her hand and slowly squatted down to place the gun on the ground. Vermouth narrowed her eyes and continued, “Step back.”
Judy stood up and stepped back, while Vermouth, holding Yukiko Kudo hostage, walked forward.
Just as they were about to reach the gun, Vermouth shoved Yukiko Kudo, and Jodie suddenly bent down and rolled to get closer to the gun on the ground.
"boom--"
A gunshot rang out, and the bullet from Vermouth's gun grazed Yukiko Kudo's arm and struck Jodie's. Jodie winced in pain and shoved Yukiko away, shouting, "Run!"
Vermouth fired another shot, hitting the ground and stopping Judy's movements. Judy barely dodged it by bracing herself with one hand on the ground, and then tried to grab Vermouth's hand holding the gun.
The two began to fight in the corridor, but Judy, with her injured arm, was no match for Vermouth and was thrown heavily to the ground. Vermouth then pointed the gun at her heart.
"It's time to finish."
Two gunshots rang out, one after the other.
Vermouth looked at the burning bloodstains on the back of her hand and turned to look at the person who had fired the shot. Kudo Yukiko held the gun that had just been kicked away; her hand trembled slightly. After all, she had never fired a gun before, especially not against a former friend.
As for Vermouth's shot, it missed and hit Jodie's shoulder because she was dodging the bullet.
Despite her pain, Judy quickly got up while Vermouth was distracted and grabbed Yukiko Kudo: "Run!"
The corridor was too narrow to completely dodge Vermouth's bullets: "Quick, check if there are any unlocked rooms!" Judy said to Yukiko Kudo while firing back with her gun.
Although Yukiko Kudo was frightened, she remained calm despite the chaos. She pushed hard against each door until she found one that wasn't locked. She immediately turned to Judy and shouted, "This door isn't locked! Come here quickly!"
With that, Yukiko opened the door, ran inside, and stood guard at the entrance. However, Judy had already been shot multiple times. She barely made it to the door and shoved Yukiko inside, then struggled to close the door from the outside.
"What are you doing? Come in right now!" Yukiko tried to pull the door open, but she couldn't budge it no matter what she did.
Judy stood guard outside the door, watching Vermouth approach step by step, and said, "Her target is me. You stay inside and lock the door, and... uh... I've already..."
Her abdomen and legs were soaked in blood.
Vermouth walked over to Judy, looking at her coldly, and said, "I told you, you can't escape this time."
Then a gunshot rang out.
Yukiko Kudo, who was behind the door, immediately covered her mouth. Then she heard Vermouth outside the door say to her, "Yukiko, you'd better stay in your room and not run around or bother me. I can guarantee you'll get back to shore safely."
Just as Yukiko Kudo raised her hand to open the door, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her neck, her vision went black, and she fainted.
The reason the door to this room was open was not because it was unlocked, but because someone had pried it open and was hiding inside.
Kawano Kiri scratched her head as she looked at Kudo Yukiko lying on the ground. She hadn't expected Vermouth here to be so powerful, actually managing to kill Jodie. Would it be inappropriate for her to go out now?
I'm now separated from her by just one door, which puts me in a somewhat awkward position.
"Oh my, Miss Chris is quick, isn't she? Looks like she's already taken care of it?" When Jiang Jin and Furuya Rei arrived at the fourth floor, they saw Jodie, who had been killed, leaning against the door, and Vermouth, who had a cold expression.
Vermouth turned her gaze away from the door and said, "It's resolved. How about your side?"
“Just a high school detective.” Jiang Jin walked towards Judy’s body, bent down to examine it carefully, and Vermouth raised an eyebrow slightly. “You’re quite cautious.”
After confirming that the person truly had no pulse, Jiang Jin clapped his hands, stood up, and said, "There's nothing we can do; the FBI agents are just too resilient."
"Now that everything is done, how do we leave?" Furuya Rei asked.
“I’ve already notified Vodka to launch the lifeboats.” Jiang Jin glanced at the room door, knowing that Kawano Ki was behind it, so he cleared his throat and said, “The FBI has also contacted the Metropolitan Police Department. Fortunately, just in case, they planted bombs on the ship beforehand, and they’ll detonate them once we board. Although the bombs aren’t many, they’re enough to cause chaos. The police are in a hurry to rescue people and won’t be able to deal with us.”
Kawano Ki, peering through the doorway, heard Jiang Jin's words clearly. After confirming that the three people outside had left, she opened the door a crack to observe the outside before starting to set up the scene.
After Shuichi Akai was shaken off by Rei Furuya, he first discovered that Conan had shrunk after being shot. Then he immediately contacted James to ask the Metropolitan Police Department to come and provide support. When he and Conan arrived at the fourth floor, they saw Jodie, who had been shot and died, Yukiko Kudo, who was unconscious, and Kiyoshi Kawano, who was injured.
Before they could ask any more questions, Shuichi Akai and Conan had just woken up Aya Kawano and Yukiko Kudo when an explosion suddenly occurred on the ship, causing the entire vessel to shake violently.
"They probably planted a bomb on the ship," Shuichi Akai said, lifting Jodie's body. "Kawano, how are you?"
Kawano Ki, clutching the gunshot wound she had inflicted, said, "I'm alright. I'm sorry I was too late; I couldn't... save Judy."
Yukiko Kudo, who was being supported by Conan, glanced at Kawano Ki after hearing her words, but said nothing, continuing to keep her gaze fixed on Conan in silence.
“It’s not your fault. Let’s figure out how to get out of here first. I’ve already contacted the Metropolitan Police Department, and their reinforcements should be here soon,” said Hideaki Akai.
On the sea, in a lifeboat, Jiang Jin watched the cruise ship blazing in the distance. Vodka was rowing, while Bourbon had already contacted the organization via satellite phone, and the waiting ship would be there soon.
“This time, we should be even, right?” Vermouth said to Jiang Jin from inside the lifeboat.
Jiang Jin turned to her and gave her a mysterious smile—"Miss Chris, of course we can call it even. But you might come back to me for cooperation again later."
