Haiyue led Shiyan into a fairly clean and tidy alley. The two passed a tavern, a noodle shop, and a general store along the way before stopping in front of a teahouse called Weiyun.

A tent was set up at the entrance of the teahouse, and inside several tables were people eating dried fruit, drinking tea, and chatting. Haiyue ushered Shi Yan into the teahouse before stepping inside himself.

The teahouse wasn't very big, but the owner had set up a stage where a rapper was currently telling a story in a vivid and engaging way.

Shi Yan glanced at it briefly before looking away.

"What kind of tea would you two gentlemen like? Please come in and have a seat."

A waiter dressed in a gray-white cloth coat with a square scarf tied around his head immediately came up to greet Shi Yan and Hai Yue.

Shi Yan did not respond.

Haiyue then asked for a private room.

The waiter smiled and led the two men upstairs to a private room.

It was called a private room, but it was actually just a small cubicle by the window with seating for only two people. Fortunately, the tables and chairs inside were designed quite nicely, and the decorations were rather elegant, so Shi Yan was quite satisfied.

Shi Yan ordered a pot of herbal tea and two plates of fruit and pastries, then sent the waiter away.

When Shi Yan arrived on the second floor, she had already noticed the layout of the private rooms upstairs and only felt at ease after confirming their privacy and safety.

A short while later, when we went to serve tea, the waiter who had gone to serve snacks and fruits returned, placed everything on the table, and left with the words, "Just call me if you need anything," before leaving. He even thoughtfully closed the door behind him.

Seeing this, Shi Yan walked to the door and opened it, deliberately leaving a crack so that people could see what was happening outside, before returning to her seat.

Shi Yan poured a cup of tea for Hai Yue first, and then poured some tea into her own teacup.

"I brought you some money for your daily needs this time."

As he spoke, he took off the purse from his waist, placed it on the table, and pushed it in front of Haiyue.

"Keep these safe. They should be enough for you for a while."

"Last time was rather rushed, and you hadn't settled in yet, so there were some things I couldn't explain to you in detail. That's why we arranged to meet today. You should still remember what I said to you all that day."

“My purchase of you was entirely a precautionary move. I need to have my own strength to deal with situations that I cannot handle on my own, and you are undoubtedly my trump card.”

"Although your contracts are in my hands, I will not interfere with your lives except when necessary. Of course, the prerequisite for you to enjoy most of your freedom is that you must become very strong. I will not waste my time on useless people. The day you complete your mission will be the day you gain true freedom. I will return your contracts to you. That day will not be long."

"Until then, you must obey me absolutely."

"Do you understand what I'm saying?"

Looking at Shi Yan's hazy face hidden by the white sand, Hai Yue nodded emphatically.

"Rest assured, Haiyue will be absolutely obedient to you. I swear on my life that I will always be loyal to you and will never betray you."

"As for the five of them, you can rest assured. The people on our side only follow one master in their lifetime, and once they recognize their master, they will be loyal to him with their lives."

“These days I have followed your orders without a single day of slack. I found a master who knows martial arts to teach us martial arts at our lodgings every day. They are very diligent and have made significant progress.”

"I believe that it won't be long before we become the invincible warriors you need."

Shi Yan looked at Hai Yue's resolute expression through the white veil and couldn't help but feel a little shaken.

“I never expected you to sacrifice your lives; I only hope that you will do your best when I need you.”

"Everyone's life is valuable and should be cherished. If you really have to save your own life, then worry about the rest."

"What I say might be true for me."

Shi Yan lifted one side of her white veil to look at Hai Yue, who was hesitant and silent.

When Hai Yue met Shi Yan's bright, affectionate eyes and her beautiful, full-moon-like face, he was speechless and could only nod blankly.

Shi Yan was satisfied when she saw him nod and put down the white veil.

"It wasn't easy for me to come out like this. If there's anything I need to say in the future, I'll have Xiaodie come to see you. Xiaodie is someone I trust, and you met her last time. To make things easier in the future, I'll go back and design some secret codes and communication symbols that only we understand. I'll have Xiaodie tell you once they're finalized."

"I was followed when I went out today. Do you have any ideas on how to stall the person without revealing my whereabouts?"

Shi Yan asked this question partly to test Hai Yue's adaptability.

Hai Yue was unaware of Shi Yan's thoughts. He only heard that she was being followed and needed to escape safely. Worried about her safety, he lowered his head and fell into deep thought.

"Wait here for me a moment before you leave. I'll go back to my lodgings and call Arjan and Ak. The three of us will work together to entangle him, take his things, and then lure him away so you can leave. Do you think this method is feasible?"

Shi Yan didn't give him a definite answer, but just looked at him and said.

"That man is not simple. You'll suffer if you mess with him."

Haiyue frowned slightly upon hearing this.

“You don’t need to worry about that. We’ll take his things and run. Arjan and Ak are excellent footworkers, quick and agile. Besides, they’re Kunlun slaves, so that man won’t be too suspicious of their identities. He might just think they’re just trying to make a living by stealing some valuables.”

"Even if they are caught by that man, you don't need to worry. They are both quite alert, and besides, they don't understand Chinese, so that man has no way to communicate with Arang and Ak. Given time, if there are no suspicious points, they will be released on their own."

"In short, you can rest assured."

“These days, besides practicing martial arts, I also make time to teach them some of your Han Chinese military strategies and tactics.”

Haiyue's voice suddenly lowered as he spoke, as if he were a little embarrassed.

Shi Yan was somewhat surprised.

"Haiyue, so you not only understand Mandarin, but you also recognize our writing system. Are you really just an ordinary person from the South China Sea?"

“Your appearance and knowledge are different from theirs.”

Shi Yan did indeed become curious about Hai Yue's background.

Hai Yue stared blankly at Shi Yan, as if he suddenly remembered something terrible, and a sense of sadness and self-loathing enveloped him.

Shi Yan keenly sensed the changes in Hai Yue.

"It's all in the past. If it was unpleasant, don't dwell on it. You're a new person now, and you're so young. You have so much good time ahead of you. There's no need to be sad about the past. You can look forward."

"Look ahead..."

Yes, he has been reborn. His seemingly bleak life has taken a turn for the better. The woman before him has given him a chance to start over, and he should look forward. It was indeed tragic that he almost lost his family and was sold off cheaply by his own brother and sister-in-law, but he doesn't need to give up on himself because of his unscrupulous relatives.

"Yes, I've taken your words to heart."

"Besides, we are all strong and capable, and we can find some work to earn a living. How can we let you take care of our needs? We are already very grateful that you bought us and gave us a stable life. We really can't accept anything more."

Although Shi Yan was touched, she also understood the harsh reality of the world. Besides, they were in an employer-employee relationship, and they should be able to make clear things up.
