We bear people have power

Chapter 60 Bodhisattva's Dharma Decree

Master Liaoyi couldn't sleep well tonight, not only because he was too tired from performing rituals during the day, but also because he was restless and uneasy. Thinking that coming to this small village was probably not a good choice, he decided to deal with the monster tomorrow and leave as soon as possible.

But as the saying goes, it's better to be safe than sorry. What Master Liaoyi feared most came to pass.

Guan Bo fell directly from the sky, smashing through the roof of the thatched hut and landing in front of Master Yi.

"Immeasurable Buddha." Master Liaoyi only managed to utter this one sentence before Guan Bo grabbed him like a chick.

"Human life is at stake; we can only ask the master for help."

"What...what exactly is this..." Before Master Liaoyi could finish speaking, Guan Bo grabbed his calf and turned him upside down.

With a shake, it shattered and scattered all over the floor.

There were silver coins and banknotes, divination sticks, cinnabar boxes, wolf howling pens... Guan Bo was quite impressed. It was amazing that someone could hide so many things on their person without affecting their activities.

After shaking for a long time, Master Liaoyi was almost shaken to pieces, but Guan Bo still couldn't find a single thing that could be considered a treasure.

"Master, how poor are you?" Guan Bo asked helplessly.

Master Liaoyi had tears in his eyes, as if he had many unspeakable grievances, and he looked very pitiful.

“Sigh, I didn’t really want to take your secret technique, but now that lives are at stake, I have no choice. Please write down the Five Thunder Orthodox Method you know, Master, I need it to save lives. But I won’t take it for free, I also have a Buddhist technique to exchange with you,” Guan Bo said.

Master Liaoyi was initially unwilling when he heard that Guan Bo wanted his Five Thunder Orthodox Method.

These days, let alone cultivation methods, even carpenters carefully select their apprentices, testing their character and integrity before passing on their knowledge. Moreover, the Five Thunder Orthodox Method is the highest, closely guarded secret of Taoism. Although Master Liaoyi possesses an incomplete version, it is still extremely valuable.

But when he heard Guan Bo say that he would exchange it for Buddhist techniques, Master Liaoyi had a change of heart.

These days, what independent cultivators fear most isn't the lack of cultivation resources. Spiritual energy, magical treasures, and rare natural materials—these things can always be found.

But this technique is the most despair-inducing.

Without the true teachings, one wastes time and years, and even as life draws to a close, there is no hope of becoming an immortal.

Master Liaoyi knew that Guan Bo's Buddhist teachings were profound, so the methods he transmitted were naturally not commonplace. Compared to the incomplete Five Thunder Dharma texts that could not lead to enlightenment, they were certainly better.

For a rogue cultivator, there's no need to consider the distinction between Buddhism and Taoism. Anyway, he hasn't mastered the Five Thunder Orthodox Method, so he can always start over.

Therefore, Master Liaoyi did not refuse and took out a silk scroll from his most intimate clothing.

Guan Bo, without any hesitation, put away the silk scroll and then said to Master Liaoyi, "I am currently unavailable, but I can swear that once tonight's events are over, I will definitely pass on the Dharma to you. Are you willing to wait a moment?"

Master Liaoyi was naturally unwilling to let things drag on, but he had just witnessed Guan Bo's methods and had no way to resist. So he wisely said, "Of course I am willing, and I believe you would not lie to me."

Guan Bo cupped his hands in greeting and flew back with the incomplete Five Thunder Orthodox Method scroll in his hand.

However, he was cautious and memorized all the contents of the silk booklet first.

Although the tiny characters were densely packed, numbering two or three thousand, Guan Bo, having survived his tribulation, was considered to have sharp hearing and eyesight. While he wouldn't say he could remember everything he saw, memorizing it after reading it a few times wasn't a problem.

Upon returning to the village chief's thatched cottage, Guan Bo had already read through the contents of the silk scroll several times and had memorized it all.

“Seventh Master, this is a fragment of the Five Thunder Orthodox Method, which can be considered a treasure.” Guan Bo said to Black Impermanence.

"Five Thunderbolts Orthodox Method?"

Black Impermanence was taken aback; this was far more precious than the essence of earth or the demon core that allowed one to transform into a human.

When one cultivates to a high level, one reaches a state where words become law, commanding all things in heaven and earth to obey. Even from fragments, one can glean many useful insights.

With the three treasures complete, Guan Bo steadied himself. As long as he lost one match and let the Black and White Impermanence choose the treasures, everything would be fine.

Presumably, these two wouldn't deliberately make things difficult for themselves; otherwise, they wouldn't have needed to wager three rounds of fighting, and it would have been much more satisfying to just start fighting directly.

"Um, Seventh Master, Eighth Master, the treasure is ready. What do you want to bet on?" Guan Bo asked.

“Well, let’s do it the old way. In the past, when we made bets with others, we were betting on…” Black Impermanence was about to continue Guan Bo’s words, but the small notebook in his hand suddenly started flipping through the pages.

This little book is part of the Book of Life and Death, which can be used to check the life and death of mortals at any time. Although it does not have the effect of determining life and death with a single stroke of the pen, it is still a treasure.

At this moment, without any prompting, it started moving on its own, which greatly surprised both Black and White Impermanence.

The notebook was turned to one of its pages, and on it were written only two words: "Win!"

It shone with golden light, carrying the supreme majesty of Buddhism.

No signature was needed; the Black and White Impermanence knew who had written those two words. It was Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, who had made the great vow that he would not become a Buddha until hell was emptied.

The Black and White Impermanence exchanged a glance, sensing that something was amiss.

It was just a matter of taking away the soul of a mortal, how did it even alarm Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva?

Moreover, judging from the meaning of these two words, it's clear they're not allowed to go easy on them.

"My goodness, I wanted to avoid offending either side, but now I'm going to suffer no matter who wins or loses."

Black Impermanence frowned. Although it was the Bodhisattva's order, he felt somewhat sorry for Guan Bo.

Everyone had a tacit understanding, and things were going well for both of us, but then this happened, and we don't know what to do.

Bai Wuchang opened his mouth and uttered only one word: "Win!"

Knowing he couldn't refuse, Black Impermanence cupped his hands to Guan Bo and said, "Brother, I admit I was being unfair this time. You'd better watch out for these three duels; we won't hold back!"

Guan Bo was immediately stunned upon hearing this; why had the tone suddenly changed?

But judging from Black Impermanence's expression, he didn't seem to be joking.

A sharp pain shot through his lower back, as if he'd been hit by something. Guan Bo turned around and saw Xiong Shanjun grimacing at him.

Guan Bo was helpless; this was unconventional, and there was nothing he could do.

“Since we’re being unfair, then I won’t take advantage of you either. The first bet is this: I’ll stand still, and if you touch me, or if I move even half a step, then you win,” Black Impermanence said to Guan Bo.

"Just bumping into someone means you've won?" Guan Bo felt this was clearly a case of deliberately throwing the game.

“That’s right, come on.” Black Impermanence slammed his mourning staff on the ground and stood with his hands behind his back.
