Leisurely mountain village

Chapter 21 The storm is coming

"Alright." The group got busy, loading the tricycle. Xiaobai helped with the effort, and Ye Huan smiled. He pushed it to the two little girls, then picked up the tricycle and let his parents ride back first.

"Keep Jingjing and Xiaotangyuan at home and don't let them run around. Saihu, go back." Ye Huan said to his mother.

"got it."

"Sister-in-law, you've worked hard. Take this bamboo basket to the orchard on the back hill." Ye Huan handed Bai Jie a bamboo basket.

"Yes, of course. I'm going now. I'll come back and help you pick watermelons when I'm done." Bai Jie took the bamboo basket and hurried off to the orchard on the back hill.

Ye Huan took the remaining two baskets and walked towards the watermelon patch. He was quite good at picking watermelons now. He looked at this one, patted that one, and picked more than ten big watermelons in no time.

I stored a few in my spatial storage. Then a torrential rain came, and this melon patch was probably going to be destroyed, so I kept a few for myself to eat later.

The remaining two bamboo baskets couldn't hold all the watermelons, but luckily, they saw their dad riding his electric tricycle over again. The two of them packed the watermelons and went to the back mountain. Seeing the basket full of peaches, Ye Huan didn't know what to do; there were just too many ripe ones.

"No more picking, sister-in-law, this is too much." After loading a basket of peaches onto the tricycle, Lu Huan called to Bai Jie. He hadn't expected these peach trees to be so fruitful; he hadn't even watered them with much spiritual spring water. How could they bear so much fruit?

Just as they were about to leave, Ye Huan called out to them with a "Whoa!" "Dad, wait a minute, your old man is here."

"Oh." Ye Huan's father and Bai Jie hadn't met Xiao Bai's father yet, even though they knew Xiao Bai was a wolf.

A moment later, a tall wolf emerged from the dense jungle, dragging a wild deer. Ye Huanying went over and patted its big head, "Why are you here?"

The wolf turned around and howled. In the past, Ye Huan would have been completely baffled, but now that he had made great progress in beast taming, he roughly understood what it meant.

"You mean there will be torrential rain and flash floods?" Ye Huan asked, frowning.

He is not afraid of ordinary flash floods. His ancestors chose to settle here and took all these things into consideration. The flood discharge capacity is very strong, and the village is basically not flooded. The big river in the village and the waterway during flood season are prepared for flash floods.

The wolf howled.

"Oh, okay, don't run away anymore. It's dangerous in the mountains. Come back with me. Little White misses you too." Ye Huan patted his head, then told his dad to throw the wild deer into the car and go home.

The wolf didn't hesitate and followed Ye Huan home step by step, startling Ye Huan's mother. However, she was relieved to see that it obediently went to a shed in the yard and lay down.

Jingjing and Xiaotangyuan didn't dare to get too close, so they just watched Xiaobai play. Ye Huan also stared at them. Although he was quite at ease with Xiaobai's biological father, it was still best not to get too close to the children.

Dad went to deliver the vegetables, about two days' worth. There were a few extra watermelons and peaches. Ye Huan asked Dad to go and tell Manager Du that ten watermelons and a basket of peaches would be enough, and the watermelons would cost 15,000 yuan. The peaches could be considered a gift.

I don't know how long this rain will last, but if things spoil, at least I can minimize the losses.

There are still two watermelons left at home, and I have three in my own space, which is enough for me.

Ye Huan told the workers to pack up and go home after he returned, otherwise they wouldn't be able to leave if it started raining.

The housework is mostly done now. The bathroom and shower room have been renovated, there's one upstairs, one downstairs, and one more in the backyard.

The kitchen in the yard is almost finished. The earthen stove was already there, so we just renovated it. The outhouse is also almost done; all that's left is to paint it white.

The main task now is the gazebo in the yard. Because Ye Huan is using all anti-corrosion wood, progress is a bit slow. In their small town, many construction teams don't make many pure wooden gazebos like this.

But there's no rush. There's no point in rushing this. He's stopped growing vegetables in the front yard and dug a small fish pond in the corner, not for decoration, but just so that there will be live fish to keep for a few days and prevent them from dying.

Then, a few meters away is the outbuilding where Old Man Xiaobai lies. A cobblestone path from the living room to the gate divides the courtyard in two, and opposite is the pavilion, which occupies a considerable space on its own.

The house in the distance from the pavilion is the converted kitchen. The yard is only this big, and Ye Huan didn't expand it; it's enough for her needs.

When Ye Huan's father returned with the groceries, dinner began. A light drizzle started to fall, and the wind picked up, howling loudly. The leaves of the row of large trees outside the yard rustled loudly.

After quickly feeding Xiao Tangyuan and Jingjing, Lu Huan took Xiao Tangyuan home. Bai Jie also took Jingjing and said goodbye before going home. Their home wasn't far from Ye Huan's home, and it was next to his grandfather's house, so his grandfather went back with them.

Ye Huan brought Xiao Tangyuan back and, seeing that Grandpa had gone home, said, "It's probably going to be a heavy rainstorm. Grandpa can stay here."

"I told him, but he didn't want to. He has too much stuff at home, and he's worried about it," Mom said.

"Okay, I'll go take a look." Ye Huan quickly ate a bowl of rice, then led the wolf father and son towards his grandfather's house. The raindrops started to get bigger, and he became anxious.

"Grandpa, this rain is getting heavy. Why don't you stay at my place?" Ye Huan said as she entered the courtyard.

“These things aren’t safe,” Grandpa said. “Put them over there.” Ye Huan wrapped the bag of things that Grandpa had packed in a tarpaulin, then wrapped it in another tarpaulin, tied it up, carried it, locked the door, and led Grandpa and Saihu back home.

Although he was her own grandfather, Ye Huan didn't want to reveal the secret of her space. It wasn't that she was afraid of her grandfather, but she didn't want to burden the old man. The old man had spent his whole life running around in the mountains and was quite superstitious, so she was afraid he would overthink things.

"I'll leave your things upstairs," Grandpa said as he watched Ye Huan put the things in his downstairs room.

Ye Huan nodded, carried the large bag upstairs, and then threw it directly into her spatial storage. There was no safer place than this.

After checking the house, Ye Huan was chatting with his grandfather in the living room when a torrential downpour began outside, accompanied by lightning and thunder. Ye Huan estimated the storm to be around level seven or eight.

"They're here." Ye Huan said, watching the raindrops, as big as beans, pounding in the yard.

"This rain is serious." Grandpa narrowed his eyes. What hasn't he experienced in his life? Otherwise, where do you think he got his tiger bones and tiger penis?

"Grandpa, have you encountered anything special while running in the mountains all these years?" Ye Huan had nothing better to do, so she kept her grandfather company.

"Speaking of which, there really is one. Deep in the back mountain, there is a pool of water. That's where I encountered that tiger. But what's strange isn't the pool itself, but that after I finished dealing with the tiger, I vaguely saw a long, elongated creature flash across the pool. At the time, I thought it was just tired from killing the tiger and didn't pay much attention. But the more I thought about it, the more suspicious it seemed. I went back there a few more times, but I never saw it again."
