Chapter 483 The Supernatural Scales of the Serpent

"Bring the ledger and USB drive to the manor on the night of the full moon, or she'll end up like his mother." The man's voice, processed, sounded like sandpaper scraping against glass—deep, grating. At the end of the video, the camera panned outside—towards the main building of the manor.

With twelve hours until the full moon, Xu Zirui and his team set up equipment in Master Chen's warehouse.

“This is a signal jammer. Electronic devices within a 500-meter radius will be interfered with.” Jiang Xin handed a palm-sized device to Xu Zirui. “Master Chen said that the manor’s cellar has three levels, and there are snakes on each level.”

Li Gang was inspecting the gun, and the special police officers had all changed into protective suits: "The forensic doctor said that the venom of the hybrid snake can dissolve muscle, and if it gets on you, you're done for."

Xu Zirui touched the scalpel in his pocket—his mentor's name was engraved on the handle. Three years ago, his mentor used this very scalpel to cut open his own palm on the operating table, writing the character "snake" in blood.

"How is Young Master Liu?" he suddenly asked.

“He’s still unconscious, but the nurses say he keeps shouting at night, ‘Remember the cellar code is Ya Ya’s birthday.’” Li Gang pulled up the manor’s floor plan. “We checked, Liu Ya’s birthday is June 0618th, which matches a number on a certain page of the ledger.”

The warehouse door was pushed open, and Mr. Chen walked in, a cigarette dangling from his lips, carrying a tin box in his hand: "This is snake repellent powder left by my grandfather. Back in the day, we relied on it to hunt in the Black Pine Forest."

Xu Zirui opened the box, and a sulfurous smell wafted out, mixed with some scales—exactly the same as the one in the forensic room.

"These snake scales..."

“I picked it up near the manor last year.” Old Chen tapped his cigarette ash. “At the time, I thought it was just ordinary snake scales, but now it seems that Liu Jinya has been raising these monstrous things for a long time.”

The clock struck six, and the sky began to glow red, like a snake's tongue licking the heavens.

Chapter 486 Snake Repellent Powder

The iron gates of the private estate were even more rusty, creaking and groaning when pushed, much like the sound of a snake flicking its tongue.

Xu Zirui and his team split into three groups: Li Gang led the special police team to storm the main entrance, Jiang Xin provided support from the back door, and Xu Zirui took Liu Ya's painting and went through the secret passage into the cellar.

The secret passage smelled fishy and foul. Xu Zirui sprinkled some snake repellent powder, which made the ground sizzle and emit white smoke.

"Will this powder work on hybrid snakes?" Jiang Xin asked, her voice crackling with electrical noise.

"I don't know, but it works every time with a regular snake." Xu Zirui walked forward, feeling along the wall. There were scratch marks on the wall, as if something was crawling on it.

They walked until they reached the end, where there was a combination lock. Xu Zirui entered 0618, and the lock clicked open.

He pushed hard, and countless green eyes lit up behind the door.

"Watch out!" Xu Zirui sprinkled another handful of snake repellent powder, and a shrill hiss came from the smoke. "There are small snakes here, don't get bitten."

He moved forward close to the wall, the picture frame in his hand occasionally hitting the bricks and stones with a "clattering" sound, startling the snakes.

Suddenly, he felt the back of the picture frame vibrating. He touched it and pulled out a miniature camera hidden behind the painting—installed by Li Gang, pointing directly at the iron gate in front.

The iron gate was wrapped with chains, and something was stuck in the keyhole. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a clump of hair covered in scales.

Xu Zirui used a scalpel to remove the hair from the keyhole. A piece of paper was wrapped around it, and a string of numbers was carved with his fingernail: 2319.

“This is Su Qing’s hair,” Xu Zirui said to the camera. “There are hair follicles at the roots, so we can extract DNA.”

Xu Zirui entered the password, and the iron gate creaked open, releasing a strong smell of formaldehyde.

The second cellar was much larger than the first. In the middle was a large glass jar containing a woman named Su Qing, except that her lower body had turned into a snake's tail.
