First, take down the Sword Demon, then save Runeterra.
Chapter 55 I Want to Eat Meat
Immortal Fortress, in a dimly lit room.
"Hmm? There's a magical fluctuation."
A figure shrouded in a black robe came to the window and looked in a certain direction.
"It's that greatsword I enchanted... That little brat Riven actually activated the power of the runes? Who is she fighting? When did the Immortal Fortress acquire a powerful figure I don't know about?"
……
Riven knelt on one knee, panting heavily. The rune greatsword lay beside her; she didn't even have the strength to lift it.
She had no magical talent; the rune greatsword achieved rune liberation by drawing upon her physical strength through a special conversion method.
The energy wave attack had exhausted Riven's stamina, and she wouldn't use it lightly until the very end.
"She lost, the swordswoman lost, the Valkyrie lost..." Laza stared in disbelief at the scene, as did everyone else.
Riven will lose; they can't even imagine that scenario.
Now they've seen it with their own eyes.
Atto sheathed the magic sword, walked to Riven's side, and extended his right hand to her.
Riven did not refuse, and with a struggle, she pulled Atto's hand to her feet.
There was no frustration in her eyes, only optimism.
"You bastard..." Riven lightly punched Ator's armor, "I used all my strength, but why do I feel like you still have energy left?"
Atto didn't know how to explain, so he could only shake his head with a dry laugh.
"Swordsman Captain!" Laza and the others rushed over as soon as the battle was over.
"I'm fine, just a little exhausted," Riven waved to them.
"It's impossible for him to be unharmed! He must have broken some bones when he hit the wall!" Laza glared fiercely at Ato. "I told you he didn't know how to respect ladies, didn't I?"
Isn't it normal to get injured in battle? But I really didn't expect Riven to be so popular in her team... Ato thought to himself.
"Alright, Laza, I was the one who made him go all out," Riven said, patting her shoulder to comfort her. "Let's not talk about that. What did you learn from watching my fight with Harris?"
Laza immediately stammered, "How are we supposed to learn this... You're not normal humans anymore, we can't learn even if we wanted to..."
"Who said that? Even if two gods were fighting here, you should be able to discern some of the patterns and learn from it to enhance your strength!"
Laza smiled slyly: "Alright then, Swordsman, you teach me how to jump ten meters into the air first!"
"This..." Riven's words were stuck in her throat. She picked up the runic greatsword from the ground and dragged it towards the front yard.
"You guys continue practicing with Harris this morning!" Riven waved her hand with her back to the group. "I need to tell them that we can't recruit any new members here today..."
"No, Swordsman! We were wrong!" Laza's lips curled into a bitter smile. Sparring with Ato was less worthwhile than making up a story about what they gained to appease the Swordsman!
Practice makes perfect. Atto skillfully unsheathed the greatsword from his back, and without taking a break, lazily asked, "Who wants to go first?"
When Riven returned, she saw that Atto had already started his sparring duties for the day, so she simply sat down by the door with a faint smile on her face.
Atto certainly noticed Riven's change and was genuinely happy for her.
He changed his approach to sparring. If these people couldn't even last two moves against him, then the sparring would lose its purpose and become a one-sided, instant kill.
Since they value Riven so much, Ator doesn't mind teaching them more.
Hopefully, they can survive on the battlefield.
As noon approached, Riven, who had begun to recover, struggled to her feet and shouted to the others who were still rolling on the ground, "That's enough for the morning, everyone disperse!"
Ato slung his greatsword over his shoulder, walked to Riven's side, and asked with concern, "How about we go out and find a restaurant? Consider it my apology."
The shouting seemed to have exhausted Riven's remaining strength. She glanced at Atto, then lowered her head, draped her arm over Atto's shoulder, and whispered, "I want meat..."
Ato shook his head and chuckled: "Alright, plenty of meat. But this time I'll have to recommend some, as I'm not familiar with the capital."
He glanced at Riven's rune greatsword again: "You're too weak to carry it, let me hold it for you."
Without asking Riven's opinion, he took it and tied it to himself, forming an interlocking shape with the Darkin Blade.
“It’s really uncomfortable to be near this sword…” Aatrox complained, “but this is a rare opportunity, so I’ll bear with it for you.”
"Old man, you have no right to talk to me like that. You heartlessly left Anaka at Frostguard Fortress, what did I say to you?"
As they walked out of the recruitment office, many citizens living in the Immortal Fortress witnessed a strange scene.
A soldier in full armor, carrying two greatswords, exuded an imposing aura. He supported a swaying white-haired woman with his hands, who seemed on the verge of collapsing.
"Turn left ahead...yes...this is it...Fortnite..."
"This name..." Atto was speechless, but since it was a place Riven wanted to come to, he didn't say anything.
Upon entering the restaurant, Atto was briefly taken aback by its luxurious decor.
Unlike the solemn style of the Immortal Fortress, this place is decorated with colorful lights and artworks made of expensive metal on the walls and pillars.
Just as Ato was looking for a seat, a waiter came up to him.
"Dear Madam and Sir, you are very lucky. There is one last room left in Fortnite; all the others have been booked."
"Then please take us there."
Through Ato's observations along the way, he discovered that there was no main hall, only private rooms, which must have been a place frequently visited by nobles and merchants.
Upon reaching their seats in the room, Atto helped Riven sit down. Just as he was about to ask the waiter for the menu, he heard Riven lean on the table and say, "I want five lamb chops, ten steaks, two roast chickens, and a large glass of milk! Harris, just tell me what you want to eat!"
“I…” Ato gritted his teeth, “a steak, a specialty dessert, and a bottle of your strongest liquor!”
The waiter frantically took notes, then glanced at the two men's filthy appearance. "Have I run into starving ghosts?"
Ator unsheathed the two greatswords and set them aside. After confirming that the waiter had left the room, he looked at Riven's listless appearance and asked curiously, "I'm a soldier now, and I drink during the day. Aren't you going to stop me?"
“What’s the big deal? There are plenty of soldiers in the camp who secretly drink.” Riven waved her hand. “I’ve even hidden your strength from you, so drinking is just a small matter.”
Ato ordered a bottle of strong liquor because he felt his opportunity had arrived.
He and Riven hadn't known each other for very long; it was only their second day together, but Ato couldn't wait any longer.
He wanted to tell Riven his real name.
