Chapter 29 Blood Alliance
“We have arrived, Avarosa tribe.”
Even in Tedamir, far to the east, people had heard of Avarosa.
This tribe has recently risen to prominence and gained a great reputation.
Their leader, Ashe, inherited the will of Avarossa, one of the three Ice Sisters from ten thousand years ago, attracting many people to join her. Currently, the tribe has grown to over a hundred people.
"Will they accept us?" Luger looked at the thriving new tribe and felt a strong sense of loss compared to the decline of his own tribe.
"I'll go talk to them first, you all wait here."
Tryndamere tidied his appearance slightly to make himself look less disheveled, then slung his longsword behind his back to prevent any potential conflict, and slowly walked towards the village.
At the village entrance, a short, chest-length beard-wearing fireman noticed Tryndamere approaching the village.
He was immediately struck by Tryndamere's strength and approached him warily, asking, "Who are you? What brings you to the Avarosan tribe?"
Meanwhile, while the fire-starter and Tryndamere were talking, a dark figure slipped into the village and nimbly leaped onto the roof of a house.
"The show is about to begin." Atto completely concealed his presence. "You can't see me, you can't see me."
Tryndamere began with his prepared remarks: "My tribe suffered a devastating calamity, and now less than ten people have survived. We hope to join the Avarosan tribe and are willing to dedicate our strength to the tribe."
Lu Hu frowned: "So you want to join us, but this is not something I can decide. It must be decided by Zhan Mu."
"I'll go and inform the War Mother, and have your men wait at the village entrance. You're very lucky; the War Mother has just returned from her hunt."
After finishing speaking, the furnace keeper entered the village and headed straight for the largest house in the center of the tribe. Tryndamere also followed the instructions, calling on the other survivors to bring three large carts of meat to the village entrance.
Just then, five people walked out of the village, followed by many villagers who were watching.
Of the five, four were the strongest young men in the tribe, but slightly weaker than Tryndamere.
In stark contrast to the strong young man was the woman in the middle who looked somewhat frail.
The woman had exquisite features, her long white hair was neatly combed on both sides, she wore a blue hooded cloak, and carried a longbow that was as transparent as crystal and exuded a chilling aura.
She looked at Tryndamere with a scrutinizing gaze, while Tryndamere was scrutinizing her in return.
"Just because I glanced at you in the crowd..." Ato clicked his tongue in the shadows, excited that he was about to witness a good show.
Tryndamere stepped forward, and in his tribal tradition, he placed his right fist against his chest, bowed slightly, and greeted the woman: "Greetings, Your Majesty, Mother of War. We are..."
"Kurk has already told me. You want to join the Avarosa tribe?" the woman said in an ethereal voice. Kurk was the same bearded fire-breastman from before.
“Yes, we are willing to fight for Avarosan. This food is a token of our sincerity, and we are willing to share it with the people of Avarosan,” Tryndamere said, pointing to the three carts of wild boar meat behind him.
"So much food! Smoked into jerky, it's enough for the tribe to eat for a month! This will be very helpful in getting through the winter!" exclaimed one of the villagers watching.
The four burly men did not express their opinions. This was not the first time someone had joined in; it was always the decision made by Zhan Mu.
Zhan's mother was kind-hearted and never refused anyone who asked, so she would usually agree.
But this time, the War Mother's gaze remained fixed on the leading barbarian, not even glancing at the food behind him.
Tryndamere felt very uncomfortable.
Zhan's mother had been watching him ever since he arrived at the village entrance. He tried to explain the situation to her but received no response, which made him feel very uncertain.
Is she going to refuse our offer to join the tribe?
The atmosphere fell into silence for a while.
Suddenly, Ashe, the Mother of War, seemed to have made up her mind and walked up to Tryndamere, so close that they could hear each other breathing.
She looked up at Tryndamere, who was much taller than her, and said calmly, "If you want to join the Avarosan tribe, you must agree to one condition."
"What are the conditions?" At such close range, Tryndamere's heart raced, but he didn't look away from Ashe's gaze.
Ashe said, word by word, "Be my blood sworn brother."
boom!
It suddenly exploded in Tryndamere's mind.
Recalling what he knew about the blood oath, he felt somewhat lost.
In Freljord, women are at the heart of a tribe, and the vast majority of tribal leaders are women.
She can form families with multiple men, and the male partners of a female leader are called blood allies.
Like Ashe's mother, Glenna, who had as many as five blood oaths.
For female leaders, the blood oath is both a tool for bearing offspring and a means of protecting the tribe.
As for how much genuine feeling they have for the Blood Oath, it varies from person to person.
"Hehehe...hehehe..." Ato, hiding on the roof, couldn't help but laugh. "Shining on couples is such a wonderful thing!"
While Tryndamere was still in a daze, the four young tribesmen who came out with Ashe all stared wide-eyed, their faces filled with disbelief.
"No, War Mother, you have never accepted me as your blood ally, so why choose this barbarian you have just met?"
"What makes him so outstanding? Trust me, War Mother, let me be your blood ally, and our tribe will become even stronger!"
"I can't understand, Mother of War. You know my heart; I will protect Avarosa with my life, and protect you!"
Ashe turned around, her expression cold, and said, "It's not up to you to decide who I choose as my bloodline!"
"I promise you." Tryndamere's firm and powerful voice came from beside me.
Ashe turned around again, only to find that Tryndamere wasn't looking at her, but at his people.
Tryndamere was initially hesitant. Once he became a blood ally of the chief, he would lose many things, such as freedom and dignity, and he would not be allowed to do anything to betray the chief and the tribe, otherwise he would be subject to the most severe punishment.
However, looking at the expectant eyes of his people, he knew he had to make a choice.
Ashe said gently, "Then welcome, new subjects of Avarosan."
“I cannot accept this, War Mother.” A young man stepped forward and drew his broadsword. “I still cannot understand what right this barbarian has to become your blood ally!”
"Step back!" Ashe shouted. "Are you going to disobey my orders?"
“It’s alright.” Tryndamere placed his broad hand on Ashe’s shoulder, pulled her behind him, and his eyes turned sharp. “They want the qualifications, and I’ll prove them to everyone.”
"All four of you, come at me together."
